I was excited about experiencing a new thrift store and helping my daughter find a winter coat. So we traveled from South Jersey to experience a store we hadn't been to before. I looked it up and was happy to see they were open on Sundays. So we drove the 30+ minutes from South Jersey only to arrive at the location to find out that they are closed. It would've been helpful for them to list that on their Google page or their website. So it was essentially a wasted trip. Maybe one day in the future I'll be back again and can go inside and actually experience it to give it a good review. But warning don't go there unless you know for sure they are open again. read more

I have donated quality items approx. 5 times. RISE is a great charity. However, I have found that the staff makes people donating very unappreciated. They border on rude. Don't waste your time. This place is full of overpriced junk. Who on earth would pay $15 for a very used pair of sneakers or $60 for a used leather jacket??? Sure, it's leather, but it's used!!! If you are looking for old kitchen supplies and old glassware and want to spend lots of money on cheap, crummy items, this is your place! This is a hidden gem! I found this randomly one time and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great selection of items! There were heavily discounted items outside of the store (I believe that's for seasonal clearance) and an array of items inside. I've only been there once but when I went the store was clean and organized. There were great sales going on the day I went and managed to get many items at great prices! The only thing is that the store is small, but that is through no fault of the employees or management. I would love to see this place in a bigger location to fit more items! Overall, I would definitely return to this location and I highly recommend it. read more

Store hours :- Only open on WED to SAT Ambiance :- This is how I envision thrifting to be like. It feels as if I am digging in someone's home, very intimate and cosy enveloped by the musty smell of treasure buried by time. Full of promises. This thrift store organize as if a tired disheveled housewife was picking up after her kids. You got to dig a little but there isn't far to go STAR 1 - Owners are super Friendly STAR 2 - If you love to treasure hunt this is the place. I saw a lot of coloured glass lamps, couple of gold watches and if you have a penchant for granny bags like me this is the place for you. NOT a place to get clothes. STAR 3 - Easy on your wallet. For $20 I got 1 medium suitcase ($6) 2 pairs of earrings ($2 per pair) 5 books ($1) 2 pins ($2 each) 3 handbags STAR 4 - Join the membership for free. For every $10 you spend you get a stamp on a card. 10 stamps entitles you to $10 store credit. read more

It is so unfortunate this local thrift store is clearly not out to make money for the community for which they support. Prices are ridiculous. A used crock pot 25.00, stained mugs 8.00.... etc. They are packed with merchandise but now realize it's because they don't have good turnover so many items sit. As we asked for a price on something that was not marked, it changed 3 times. Disappointing. read more

I absolutely love this store! Having moved to the area recently .. this is a little gem in Hightstown.! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Always good parking. I usually find some kind of treasure and it's very rare that I walk out of the store with nothing. If you put your name on the list they give you 10% off after you spend $100 I do believe. I've donated more than a dozen boxes of very usable clothing and household goods to Rise since my husband died two years ago. I'm simplifying my home of things I no longer use. I never donate junk and I never ask for a receipt. Besides another box of assorted items, I brought in a wall shelf made of chrome with 2 glass panels that I carefully taped to the shelf to keep them from breaking and show what a pretty and useful item it is. A young purple haired girl told me it was furniture and she wouldn't take it as a donation. The wall shelf measures about 24" by 20". I asked her to reconsider because my donations are more easily picked up by the Vets. She refused and told me to take it to the Rise furniture store. I will never donate to Rise again. I wanted my donations to support the local community but in the future will have one of the trucks come for a pick up. read more

I've been coming off and on to this place since it opened three years ago. I liked it very much in the beginning - LOTS of good stuff but lately you'd be lucky if you find something. The reviewer above is right - it IS musty (and dusty). No open windows for air circulation and the heating/cooling system breaks down often and there are tired (AKA bored) housewives working there. The place is not as good as it used to be price wise - doubled and in some cases tripled since the first year. It's overall prices are high compared to other charity stores in the area. Quality is down. Clothing may be clean but they accept anything now and several pieces I've seen are missing buttons, belts and have snags rips, irreverable stains - forget men's ties; women's purses have old ink and make=up stains inside. Housewares items have to be carefully checked for chips and cracks (in the beginning none were even allowed in a free been, let alone clearance). They used to have stickers on any appliance they sell that it was tested for function, but now you'd be lucky if they let you plug it in to check. It's not a neat or organized as good as it used to be and I hear morale is down since the original owner was "retired". They're always looking for volunteers as not many stick around long enough. FYI: While they have 1 handicapped parking stall the place is NOT wheelchair friendly and lots of stuff can't be reached (even if you're standing!). Some aisles are so narrow you have to move through sideways (doubt it meets safety code!). Near as I can figure, only baby clothes are a still worth coming for; but even there they created price tiers and any clothing for 4T and up are much higher. Sorry for the bad news but you should be aware. PS: if you need to use the bathroom they send you to the pizza place across the field. read more

Both on line and the sign outside the store says closes at 7pm on Saturdays. They were closed at 5:45pm. I saw other people post a similar review about them closing early. If that's the case, just change your time then, instead of having people drive out to you, assuming you're open another hour or so more. Very irritating read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because i have to. They wasted my time and gas to come here and not even be open because their ac was broken, when i walk in and see workers standing by racks of clothes merely talking and they tell me they're not open is obvious they don't care about their job. The spirit of thrift is lost here, trying too hard to be a "real" store. Ive been trying to go here off and on since its inception, but 9 times out of 10 i leave disappointed. Nothing is priced, they make it up as they go along. I've put many items back because they ask too much. I realize its a for a good cause and they need to make money, but the prices should be marked on everything not just the high markup "brand" clothes(ridiculous) and big items. The last time i passed on an item because of price, the cashier said "well how much do you have?", that's not the point! I'm not there to haggle, the prices should be the same for everyone! read more
