All the more exciting that it is new and not well known yet. But it will be on the map in no time! The food was excellent and the portions were huge! Even the drinks were big, but there was no compromise in quality. Top notch chefs and serving staff; the food was all very fresh and tasted notably well prepared. Everything had that "hand crafted" sort of feeling from the thought of the flavours and dishes to the decor and menus. This is the sort of place I would go back to again and again. The prices were very reasonable considering the portion size and luxurious dining experience! When you enter the Ramada Hotel, it is located through the lobby to the left. There is a bar there, but simply ask the waitress to be seated in the restaurant area. We chose to sit close to the kitchen in the back. Very nice decor with vintage style lighting and fun artwork on the walls. It is definitely an upper class sort of place. After a round of drinks, I opted for the starter of Baby Back Ribs. I read they are fresh pork ribs that are apple smoked in house. The meat tasted hearty, and it had a delicious glaze. I ended up sharing it as it was a very large portion as a starter. We all nibbled on a Grazing Board to share. The vegetarian 'Med" Board had a selection of cheese, olives, bread, etc. Nice way to sample Mediterranean flavours and put off the hungry feeling. For my main I ordered the Devonshire Braised Ox Cheek. This was one of the best Ox Cheek I have ever had! (it was my first ox cheek I've ever had) But after having it at this restaurant I wouldn't want to order it anywhere else as I now have very high standards. It was very succulent and soft, almost as if it melted in my mouth! The meat was on a bed of delicious horseradish mash ladled with red wine jus. It also came with a side of honey glazed carrots. I'm not normally a cooked carrots fan, but I had to make myself stop eating them as they were so good! This meal was massive and I offered to share some of it with my family. My Husband enjoyed a huge stuffed and grilled Rainbow Trout, and our parents got the Chicken and Pomegranate salad and Mixed Grill. Everyone was super happy with their decisions and there was more than enough food to satisfy us all. I was definitely full by the end, but I couldn't resist the desserts menu. Although they have an award winning cheese selection, I wanted something sweet, so I got the Apple & Blackberry crumble with cornish ice cream and single cream. It had a very rustic taste to it; not your typical crumble. This was a very nice way to end the evening. All in all, as I mentioned above, I highly recommend The Queens Road! Huge portions at a reasonable cost, and no one in our party had any quibbles about anything from the food to the service and decor. I think this place should enter their menu and chef into contests because they stand an excellent chance at taking home all the prizes. The quality and flavour are straight out of London Mayfair!

But that's not the case with Queen's Rd... our meal was very smooth and meticulous. Right from being greeted at the door to when we left, the staff were friendly and constantly checking up on us to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We had a big sharing platter between 4 people as a starter, and despite my Mother & Father insisting that they didn't want any, within minutes, they were digging right in! ha! The main was also exceptional, excellent flavours and great decoration - I honestly couldn't finish it all. Foolishly, I went for the dessert too... which was futile as it just made me feel overfull and silly for even attempting another dish (chocolate - my weakness) I thought it was a shame that we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, because they have a great product and location! But as with all new restaurants, these things take time to build up... maybe a little more marketing and promotion and they'l do just fine. My wife and I will definitely be back.

The ambiance is relaxed, so good for food with friends and can be quite intimate with candles on tables and low lights. I booked the restaurant via an app on my phone (dead easy and convenient). When we arrived there, our table was ready and we received a warm welcome. The food - it was the Christmas menu this time- was tasty and well presented. The wine was very nice too! I have to say that the waitress was very nice, honest and helpful. She even went back to the kitchen to check the exact content of a dish (she did tell us before but went to check and fedback to us, very thoughtful and accurate) Special commendation for this restaurant: they have bottles of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc, my fav champagne! I didn't have any but it's a good sign to me!!

However, they miss the most important: you go to a restaurant for the quality of the food. We had to wait 45 minutes for soggy fries, over-cooked burger was so dry we struggled cutting through it, nothing left of the blue cheese in it. My dish arrived with the pulled pork looking like strings of dried meat coming out of a packet, the dish was sitting there for a while as the coleslaw had already some skin on it. When you wait that long you expect freshly cooked food not reheated food.

The building looked quite big, but once inside, it is quite a small restaurant for about 20 covers, unless there was another floor. On entering the restaurant there is a small dining area with four tables, and then another leading up from there through to the back, with two tables, then the bar is situated in the third room in the back. It does give quite a cosy feel and it is quite intimate, and relaxing. We were shown into the middle room with the two tables. There's a really good bar menu of soup of the day, sandwiches with hand cut chips and salad, but also salads and full dishes, as well as the à la carte menu of starters, mains and desserts, or the steak menu of four kinds of steak with four kinds of sauces plus side orders, so plenty of choice to suit every taste. I went for the bar food of soup of the day which was a mint pea soup and the full dish of fish and chips with tartar sauce. The soup came with three pieces of warm ciabatta, my favourite! So that pleased me a great deal, as I am not a fan of pea soup, but I was happy to try it, as I really wanted some soup. The pea soup consisted of small chunks of cucumber, small pieces of string beans, peas and watercress, a very green dish and did not taste minty at all, looked good and tasted fine. It looked quite a big dish too until you realise the dish was really shallow, so was just really a bowl size soup in a shallow dish. The fish and chips was a very nicely presented dish on a wooden chopping board. The fish is half the size of what one gets from the chippy. Would have liked a bit more as it was very nice, as the beer batter was very crisp and thin. The little tub of tartar sauce was also good, with small diced pickled gherkins and parsley. It was served on a bed of potato wedges with salad and a little tub of mushy peas as well. My companion chose the 10oz steak from the a la carte menu with peppercorn sauce. This was actually a good size, well cooked with peppercorn sauce that also had a spice kick. I had a taste and it was very nice indeed. The bar served draft beers, and there is live music here on Saturday and Sunday nights. Sunday lunch looks good value at £16 for three courses too. Pity we are not local, but only here for the day. It looks like a fun evening can be had here with good food.

Staff are super friendly, they have a playground outside and a WHOLE PARKING LOT. Just glorious. Now, my one real critique is this, and it's for the owners so if you're not them you can skip the rest of this review: per your Tex Mex chicken with the Cajun seasoning; Cajun is NOT Tex Mex. Cajun is its own cuisine from Louisiana inspired by French cuisine and African American soul food. Tex Mex is Texas (think cowboy Chuck wagon type stuff) and Mexican, so not French or Soul Food inspired at all. Not even a little bit. Not even close. That's one heck of a fusion y'all lol
