This outdoor patio with the stunning view high above Lake Iseo on the island on Monte Isola is THE place for a long leisurely lunch over a bottle of wine. Call ahead for a reservation and they might give you a table on the outer edge of the patio with a unspoiled view. Big cantilevered umbrellas hang over the tables and there is always a breeze.
The waiters and menu are all good with the "English" so no worries there. My boyfriend and I had a first and second course each and shared a bottle of wine and a dessert. Our bill was about 75 Euros and it took two hours for lunch with every table full. all of the beautiful European people lingering and drinking and talking loudly. These things should be considered when planning to eat there but may not always be the case since we were there for Christo's Floating Piers.
Our Meal was a shrimp and fennel salad with a citrus dressing, a cold barley salad, a light pork dish and the local specialty, which is a lake sardine with polenta. I sampled several area restaurants version of the sardine/polenta dish but I think this place does it best of all.
The wine list is decent range of local wineries and some other regions with a good range of medium priced bottles at 15 euro. read more
