Panna cotta for dessert was a nice finish It was a bit of a bummer to be charged extra for two small pours of olive oil to eat with our bread. But that is my only criticism of the meal

We weren't very hungry because we had salami, cheese and bread while wine tasting in Montepulciano this afternoon. We split the first course--handmade pasta with a pork cheek ragu lightly seasoned with fennel and dusted with pecorino. I was happy to learn that the traditional pasta of Orvieto is made without egg-- just flour and water. It was very satisfying. For the second course, DH had the braised pork ribs in a ginger sauce. The meat fell off the bones into the luscious sauce. The flavors were strong, yet balanced. I would definitely order it. I had the Chianina beef, thinly sliced and drizzled with olive oil, lemon and pepper. A very flavorful but light beef dish that is served cold. For dessert, DH had the deconstructed tiramisu. There were local wines that paired perfectly with our meal. Flavors paired with local mushrooms were rich & buttery, yet light. I'm a fan of a salad & the side mista salads did not disappoint. We sat in the back of the restaurant in an…read morearea that serves as a garden, but in winter it was entirely enclosed by glass and heated, with various guests taking turns turning the heat up or down for their respective comfort. Service was very friendly and attentive without being cloying. Reservations needed -- we had reserved the day before, and several would-be diners were turned away. The food menu was quite abbreviated but good -- the wine list was very long. The children had pasta with either red sauce (not on the menu) or oil and cheese. My spouse had roast lamb ribs, which came with french fry wedges the lamb was great). But the rest of the adults got a tad adventurous, having respectively duck breast, venison (advertised as "deer" on the English menu) and pigeon. My pigeon came in three separate parts -- breast, wings and filet tartare of something (I did not understand the explanation of what body part). Delicious (but note that it was hard to get the meat medium well - for this place, what most Americans would call rare came out as "medium." Nafisa asked for extra cooking for her duck breast and it came back right) It was late but we lingered for dessert: two of us had zuppa inglese and one creme brulee. Overall a good eating experience FWIW this was the most expensive meal we have had in Italy the past three weeks. But worth it!
