Although our group mainly traveled by bus, some of our group took the train back and forth to Florence. Theres 2 stops into montecatini terme and everyone said it was quite easy to do. Its also about 1 hour or so from Siena and 2 hours to the sea by car. The hotel itself was older but I thought quite lovely. My room had high ceilings and big shuttered windows that opened a la "a room with a view," and the bed was very comfortable. There's also a large scenic park next door that locals used and was great for exercising in the morning. Only not so great things were the showers which were pretty tiny. Some in our group didnt have wands in their showers. Also the included breakfast, while totally acceptable was not the extensive spread I've seen elsewhere in italy and Europe. Overall though, a great 4 night stay here! I wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a king bed with an upstairs loft with a single bed. The bathroom was a little small, but we made it work. However the room didn't have a chest of drawers so we had to pile everything into the closet which only had 5 hangers. The staff at Grand Hotel Vittoria is amazing. From check-in, to dining, to check-out everyone was so helpful and nice. We didn't take advantage of the on-site spa or outdoor pool & steam room. D did hit the health club, but he came back shortly and said the weight machine was broken. We did dine at the restaurant for one dinner, which was very good. And we had their breakfast buffet every morning but it was the same thing each day for the 7 mornings we were there. The bar/lounge is very nice. They had have grand piano and allowed D to entertain us most evenings. The bartenders were a lot of fun and kept our drinks supplied. I liked staying at the Grand Hotel Vittoria. It's proximity to Pisa, Florence, Sienna and other Tuscan cities is perfect - no more than 1 1/2 to 2 hours of a drive. And Montecantini Terme is a nice city with plenty of restaurants and night life.

Robert another front desk person was so helpful lining up a guide to explore outside the walls of Lucca and just an all around good guy to have as a resource for the six days we were in Lucca. The rate was reasonable, the location great with easy access to walk the wall and the breakfast buffet was delicious, Maria took very good care of us. If you are looking for a place to stay in Lucca, look no farther, stay here.

My family and I stayed at the San Luca Palace hotel for 5 nights. I can not recommend this hotel…read moreenough. The location is central to many beaches, Pisa, Florence etc to use as a home base. It is extremely reasonably priced and the rooms are clean and very spacious. The service is absolutely unbelievable and the staff goes over the top to accommodate. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you find yourself in the area. You will not be disappointed.

The highlight, however, was the food. They went out of their way to serve some of the best meals I have ever had in Italy as part of our half pension meal plan. The hotel has a dedicated beach, very nice in Italy during the season, and was frequented by people from all over Europe, most staying for a week or more. It was near the sidewalk that leads into Pietrasanta, one of the great art towns of the world.

If you call yourself "luxury" than service should be better, no mess should be in sight of hotel guests and furniture should be more comfortable. Have a good look around, train your staff and maybe take them out to a "luxury" hotel / restaurant to learn from others! We enjoyed the surrounding, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We took the train to most places and there is a train stop about 200 meters from the hotel entrance. Another huge up-side is the staff. From the front desk, to cleaning service, breakfast service, or the bar, they were all very professional and very nice and friendly. Overall we were satisfied with the place. Renee, who runs the bar and food and beverage was outstanding. He went out of his way to help in any way. He recommended restaurants, wineries, wines or whatever we asked. He was an amazing help and always seemed to be at the hotel. Not sure if he ever gets a day off. The 2 complaints I have are the bathroom and the included breakfast. The bathroom and shower are WAY smaller than shown on the website. It's actually the smallest shower I've ever been in. You can't wash without hitting the handle and either turning the water off, or making it freeze or burn you. It is not made for the average sized human. The other complaint is the included breakfast. Maybe this is because it's during covid, but there were literally only 1 or 2 hot options to choose from and they seemed to be the same every day. Otherwise sometimes there was some fruit or some bread, but not really what I was expecting or even close to anywhere else I've stayed all over Europe. Again, for the price and the experience with the staff, this place is great.

You get a card key which opens your room (and powers…read morethe lights, see below) --- but to get into the building you stop by the main desk, say you're going in, and they buzz you into the annex. Awkward but not problematic. Main group of rooms looked to use the standard European "leave the key at the desk" system. Climate control's a bit of a problem --- there's a cardkey slot to "turn on the room," which powers the lights and the AC. There's a dial that claims to control the AC, but ours didn't seem to do anything. Want to charge your phone? AC goes on low. Want to read in bed? AC goes on low. Not enough too really cool the place down (open the windows for that), but enough to use energy and make some noise. Don't let the breakfast crew scare you --- two guys in goofy T-shirts, but they can make cappuccino just fine.

Very clean. no complaints about that. Window overlooked a small yard. It was a quiet room and I slept well. The breakfast wasn't much. Some croissants and they will make you a cappuccino. There was some sliced meats and cereal. Normal stuff. nothing to knock your socks off. My friends stayed at the Paolina which was great. It was an actual one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, kitchen table, wine glasses, stove, fridge and a big bathroom. And a complimentary bottle of wine. There was even an extra room with a single bed in it. The price was the same for both places. 180 euros for two nights. The Paolina is also closer to the train station. My friends made the better choice.

We enjoyed the heated pool and our walks on the streets of Pietrasanta. We were able to drive and have day trips to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Carrara, Porto Venere, and Parma. Look forward to visiting again!
