This pharmacy, like all pharmacies seemingly, sucks a big fat one. I've never been to a pharmacy that's not too busy, or overstaffed (pretty sure there's no such thing). There is something inherently flawed with the pharmacy business model where a doctor, who hogs the entire operating budget, counts out pills. As to be expected, they're perpetually short handed, forcing these same doctors to double as cashiers and deal with cranky customers who are pissed it took so long. Understandably, nobody wants to work at a pharmacy, except the pharmacist...maybe. Regulations need to change. No more pill Nannie's would mean easier access for all. Rant over. read more

Really appreciate the pharmacy services here. They helped me get medication at another pharmacy as they didn't stock a particular kind. Sometimes there is a little wait for a few minutes, but nothing like the hot mess that is Wallgreens on the north end. Staff is great and store is always clean. read more

Due to labor shortages they are understaffed but Atleast they open on a daily basis unlike the CVS in Bellevue. I feel horrible for the pharmacy workers and I appreciate how courteous they were despite working twice the number of hours. I was able to get my vaccine with no issues. I hate needles and it was over before I knew it was happening. It's also the most well maintained Rite Aid I have ever been into. They have a huge selection compared to other Rite Aid locations as well. read more

If you think you can go into a pharmacy these days and not run into long lines or occasional confusion, then you must not be leaving in Seattle or even the United States. Pharmacies and closing, staff are in short supply and we are still plagued with supply chain shortages. Yet, Mercer Island Rite Aid Pharmacy almost always rises above these challenges. The pharmacists are excellent and two of them, Parisa and Bernice have taken care of my family for decades. Out of necessity, they are always training new employees. I find the new staff to always be polite and to do their best. You will get a better experience at Rite than just about any place I can imagine; just to be sure to factor in what the current state of the pharmacy business is before you do an arbitrary review. I had never shopped at a Rite Aid before moving here and it's SO much better than other drugstores! The service at this location is honestly amazing. Such friendly employees! And I use their pharmacy for my prescriptions and even though those employees are definitely over worked and under staffed I still feel like they provide great service despite being obviously stressed out. If you do not want to wait in line at a pharmacy then I am afraid that you are going to have a go to a town with a few hundred people in it, rather than Mercer Island, Seattle or Bellevue. Mercer Island is faced with the same demands as other pharmacies in the area but the handle them with consistent compassion, politeness and even good humor. Pharmacists Parisa and Bearnice became stalwarts at the South end of Mercer Island for years and we were very lucky to have them move to the last Rite Aid on the Island. I have also very much liked the new pharmacists that have come on at well. I think pharmacies have yet to recovery from the pandemic, including supply chain issues and demands for vaccinations. The pharmacy here is so terrible, I really wish they would do something about it. The wait is always really long, it takes them days to fill scripts, they will tell you they don't have the script and need to order it days after you request a refill, they will tell you your scripts are ready only to have them not be ready on arrival. I really need to find an alternative because the management doesn't seem to be at all proactive about making improvements. The poor people working there are flustered and confused which shows a lack of training. If they've been there awhile they are irritated and rude - and I don't blame them. The customer service is HORRIBLE. They never check if the customers have insurance or not, they set NO insurance by default. Last Wednesday I went to pick up my daughter's prescription, and asked them to input my daughter's insurance. But I was told it would take longer time. I said I can wait so I won't do again next time. Finally they add my daughter the insurance to the system. However, when my husband went to pick up another prescription today, the bill was still running without insurance again, my husband was told that our daughter's insurance was never added at all. My husband even talked to the store manager, but no help at all. They showed less customer care. We decide to roll out from this RITE AID, and will never come back again. If you don't have an insurance, and the store is close by it maybe an option. If you have insurance, I do NOT recommend. You may have to input your insurance every time which takes about 15-20 min, OR charged by no insurance by default. Anyway, bad experience. read more

This place randomly closes early. Went in on Sunday 20 minutes before closing after flooring it from my doctor's, in so much pain I was about to have an anxiety attack, only to sprint through the door to a closed pharmacy. It's happened before on a weekday. I'd call beforehand if you're in a similar situation. I agree with the other reviewers: they're clearly understaffed. Employees seem to be doing their best given the situation. I should be more pissed about it, but hey, the job admittedly sucks. I'm honestly just glad people are willing to do it still. It's got to rank up there among the worst. It's one of those dumb jobs that machines can't replace, for some reason. read more

This has been my pharmacy of choice for many years but that may change since they have hired a woman in the pharmacy there who is extremely rude. I can give people a pass for having a bad day but repeated visits have shown she is always rude to customers. Shoulder length reddish hair, middle aged Caucasian. Rude attitude from cashier at pharmacy counter. Then she took her time chatting with a customer even with a line waiting. Finally after ringing me up she walked off even though I had selected to consult with the pharmacist. She seemed annoyed but told the pharmacist I wanted to speak. Then the pharmacist acted surprised I wanted to consult and told me rather condescendingly my doctor should have told me everything about the medication. To be fair, the pharmacist did give me a long consult and explained everything when I pushed. She also said I could phone if I had questions. read more

I usually don't like Rite Aid but I am giving this one a good review due to the size of this place. It's absolutely huge and has way more household goods than you would expect. You can even buy ironing boards and trashcans here... That being said, I think Rite Aid does a lot of buy one get one 50% off deals, which I'm not a huge fan of because I usually don't need two of the same items. They recently remodeled and the place looks like an updated drug store! I like it. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards card program! read more

Pharmacy got good reviews on nextdoor, thought I'd give another go. What a poor choice! They had me come back three times. And they still messed up prescription! Wouldn't answer the phone, after being on hold for 30 minutes. So I kept calling back, and got hung up on. My informed was outdated by 20 years, upon receiving my incorrect prescription. They didn't even ask if it was updated, the pharmacist just said, "she is out of network ". I didn't question her at the time; but after seeing my information, clearly it's outdated. This is the Rite Aid I go to when I'm on Mercer Island. I love going to All Seasons Market and so I usually stop by this Rite Aid. I'm usually as lost as a puppy when I go in sometimes and have to ask for help. Everyone who works there is so nice and knowledgeable about what's in stock. The tall blonde guy with glasses has helped me multiple times finding stuff for me and has gone out of his way to help. I appreciate the care the employees show while I'm in the store. I used to go to the MI south end Rite Aid and always had excellent and friendly service from the pharmacists, in particular, Parisa. However, now that it is closed, I must go to the north end pharmacy. This pharmacy seems more like a production line and some treat customers as such. In particular one pharmacist, James, is always very abrupt - verging on being rude. I avoid dealing with him whenever possible. Recently, I picked up a prescription and it took three pharmacists to figure out how to process it - and it was pretty straight forward. Fortunately, Parisa is now at the N. end pharmacy and whenever possible, I deal with her - she is extremely friendly and personable and makes you feel like you are special. Maybe she can help the others develop their people skills. read more

What a bunch of inconsiderate people! I took two buses to get to this pharmacy so that I can walk in to get my covid shot. I also called in advance. They told me if I come on a wednesday before 2 pm, i could get my shot. I showed up at 12:30. They asked me to fill out a form and come back at 4:30 pm. What kind of walk in service is this? People have to work. They can't shuttle between their office and your pharmacy. read more

I dropped off my prescription at this Rite Aid as I do every month. I approached the pharmacy wearing my mask and I was on my phone. I was on hold and didn't expect to be helped at the pharmacy until I was completed with my call. However the pharmacy technician motion me over took my prescription and asked me a couple of quick questions which I answered and said that they would get it ready for me. As I left the pharmacy I was about 10 feet from the pharmacist who proceeded to shout at me through the plexiglass and in front of four other customers "no cell phones! No cell phones!". I don't have a problem adhering to all procedures and policies required by Rite Aid to fill a prescription, to be in their store to, keep their employees healthy, to keep myself healthy and the people around me healthy. I do however object to being yelled at by staff members members, especially those senior staff members. I don't expect to be humiliated in front of other customers either. I find this kind of behavior really unprofessional and I know we're in difficult times, I know everyone is doing their best, but the current situation doesn't justify mistreating customers and patients. This review is for the pharmacy, if I could give it no stars I would do so. The red head that works there is very, very rude! I don't recommend using this pharmacy, they seem to be incompetent. I have had a few instances where insurance was billed wrong and if you call their attention to it, they are rude. I had a conversation with the redhead over the phone a week ago about my son's insulin prescription(they screwed up) where she proceeded to yell at me on the phone and hung up on me. I have filed a complaint with the Corporate office, I called the store manager to complain(second time). He could not be more disinterested. Customer service? Amazing pharmacy and front end staff! I walked in to get a flu shot and I did not have to wait long at all. The staff in the pharmacy were so proactive, they pulled up my insurance information so quickly. Lucy and Bernice always provide great care. Lorlee, Alex, Lhea, and Shindy all work so efficiently and are kind even during stressful, busy hours! Cody does an amazing job in calling me in advance to remind me that I have a prescription ready! And everytime I come in, they know me by name. Great neighborhood pharmacy! The front end staff are always willing to help me in locating specific items! I am very concerned that this place has chip readers but they still make us use the swipe action before we can put it in the chip reader slot. The whole point of chip readers is to not have to swipe because when we swipe it allows people to have access to our card numbers. I've never seen any other store make you swipe first. When I came to pick up, it was not ready and the response was rude instead of being considerate giving that they did not deliver as promised. Was asked to wait another twenty minute. Be very very careful at the pharmacy at the Mercer Island location on 78th St. I would rate this no stars if I could. My doctor sent in a prescription to this location. I went in to pick up the prescription and was advised that they left me a message at home. Obviously, I didn't receive it. Apparently, they did not have a supply on hand of the medication. I was asked if we needed a supply and advised that we did.l I was given a small supply of pills (6 to be exact). I pulled out my credit card to pay for the supply given and was advised that I wouldn't be charged now but that I would be charged when I picked up the full prescription. I went in today to pick up the remainder. The Pharmacy Clerk asked if I was aware that the prescription was pricey. I indicated that I did not. The Pharmacist (who was present at the time of the first encounter but was not the individual who waited on me ) said that I had been told that it was pricey when I came in the day before. First of all, he did not handle the transaction and had no actual knowledge of any conversation that went on between myself and the individual I spoke with (an Asian male who I would guess was in his 40's). Imagine my shock when I was told that the prescription was not one covered on my medical plan and that the cost for the prescription was $282! I told them that I was not going to take the prescription. That had I know that was the case, I would have had them contact our doctor to prescribe something that WAS covered under our plan. We are seniors and as such must watch our expenses. I was advised that I would have to pay for the supply that I was already given. I understood that, of course, as medication isn't returnable. The end result? I was on the hook for $43! I immediately turned in my Rite Aid wellness card. After 25 years of shopping at Rite Aid, I will no longer frequent the store. I do not do business with people who do business this way. Apparently, Rite Aid uses the "If they don't ask, we don't tell policy" when dealing with their customers. Ask questions. Ask questions and ask more questions. I filed a complaint with the Rite Aid corporate office as soon as I got home. read more
