So I posted a review an hour ago and it seems to be gone. Briefly, I have a regular prescription sent in at 10am this morning. It's now after 7 pm and my husband is leaving work and planning to pick up my meds. I have phoned multiple times to verify it can be ready but no one ever answers the phone. Sadly this happens every two weeks when I am refilled. 9 hours should be enough time to fill one prescription. I see reviews fussing about a 20 min wait and I want to say cmon over to my life! Please whoever bought Bartells add some staff!!!Bartells was a locally beloved company that's being destroyed. It won't be long before I give up and move to a mom and pop in Chinatown. read more

The pharmacy lines are absolutely ridiculous. It's sad to see Bartell's take such a nose dive on service after being purchased. This review is for the pharmacy: I am having the same exact experience as a few other people have recently posted. Ever since the backend migration took place, it has been a nightmare trying to get a prescription. No one is picking up phone calls, the staff is overworked, and the line often spans two aisles. I stood in line for an hour the other week waiting to get my prescription. This was my second trip in that day, since the first trip took 30+ minutes and I was running late to a meeting so had to bail. I don't begrudge any of the people who work here, but with the company's financial troubles and the volume of people they are servicing this place needs way more help. The lines get crazy, literally crossing the whole store, so came in at right when they opened today. Was second in line, only one pharmacist working, he's good (seen before) but the whole situation makes it complicated. Many prescriptions behind the counter are still in delivery boxes on floor, not hung nor sorted, the alphabetized hangers jammed full already anyway. The first woman in line is a bit older, both her and the pharmacist are not originally English speakers (and diff languages obv), so bit of a barrier due to accents / vocab, wouldn't be a big problem except they can barley hear each other anyway due to the physical plastic barrier between pharmacy and customer side (presumably for COVID / flu season) and he was wearing a mask muffling him more. Roughly 10 minutes of back and fourth, he's frustrated she's frustrated, now the line crosses the whole building and everyone in it is frustrated. No one else to help. Pretty sure she said it was her second visit of the week and I still don't think she got any of her scripts... Ugh. Finally she is done, now it's my turn, should only take a sec but he has to dig and dig to find mine in the bins. Sheesh. Until recently, and before it's bankruptcy announcement, there was also a Rite Aid a block away, when that closed this Bartell absorbed all the clients and employees. Some complained about that Rite Aid being a crappy store, never bothered me I just cared about not spending my whole day in line. I appreciated that some folks found themselves too boujee to go there, it kept the lines split between them two stores making it better for everyone. In a nut, the neighborhood went from having options, to one overburdened store, then parent company collapsed leaving all the locals to deal with the understaffing that followed. Do not go to this Pharmacy! They do not answer phone calls nor do they return phone messages. (Try calling them to see what I mean. Now imagine you have medication that you need or an important question about your meds. This is completely unprofessional.) I've been trying to reach them for 4 days now. I called the corporate office 3 days ago to complain and the regional manager hasn't called me back yet either. This is completely unacceptable for a pharmacy. This isn't entirely about Riteaid's merger. They've been like this for years and I moved over to Riteaid because of this exact problem. Once they merged, Riteaid transferred my prescription to Bartells automatically and I'm stuck dealing with this again. Absolutely frustrating. This pharmacy should be avoided! Update: I just transferred all of my prescriptions to another pharmacist via my doctor's office. (It was pretty simple. I wish I did this 4 days ago!) I'll have to wait a day for it to be ready but it's so worth not having to deal with Bartell/RiteAid. read more

What happened? Getting a prescription here is awful from start to finish. I waited on hold for 1.5 hours and finally gave up. I get texts that the medication was out of stock. I go to the store and wait 30 minutes in line to get my prescription. Yikes!!!! read more

I've tried to call the pharmacy for the last two days to get a new prescription straightened out but after 15 attempts nobody answers the phone. Defeated after trying to reach them by phone I drove down there to see the longest line I've ever seen for a pharmacy. At this point it seems impossible to get in touch with someone if you don't want to wait for hours, I would suggest finding a different pharmacy somewhere else. read more

Frustrating from start to finish. The last few months have been absolute hell trying to get prescriptions filled. I call in to speak with someone in the pharmacy and it's been hour long holds, 2hrs30m yesterday over the span of five back-to-back calls. When I finally did get to spot #1, no one would ever pick up. I said screw it and decided to go into the store only to be greeted by a line with 10+ people. After another 40 minute wait, I finally made it to the counter and was reminded of an issue with my insurance where one medication wasn't covered. Even with the GoodRX coupon, the pharmacist quoted me $316.00, but when I went to the site to check myself after leaving it had it listed as $60. When I asked this same pharmacist about why the phones aren't being picked up, "Well, it's only one person answering the phones and some days we're short staffed... today is a better day because we have more people." ...SO THEN WHY AREN'T THE PHONES BEING ANSWERED? Don't even get me started on the individual, who I have yet to see in person, that yelled at me when I was simply trying to get a refill before traveling for work. "WHY DO YOU NEED A REFILL? ARE YOU TAKING MORE THAN NEEDED?" Well, you're not even my PCP so why are you asking those questions? Or the pharmacist that refused to give me a Covid shot, which btw, I still haven't heard from management about this issue and was told I'd receive a call. In any event, I've tried to do home delivery of prescriptions but that's failed only for me to find myself back at Bartell's waiting for someone to pick up the phone or fill a prescription on time. They sell generic Ritalin from a company under investigation by the FDA. I found them to be ineffective so I googled the company KVK Tech and found that the FDA raided their offices and DOJ has accused them of fraud. Still the manager was adamant that there is nothing wrong with them. read more

Waiting at the pharmacy used to take 45+ minutes but they have hired a bunch of new people and now wait time has been less than 5 mins each time. Everyone in the pharmacy dept is so helpful and nice, even when they were severely understaffed, so it's great to see them having more help and having it be so much easier to pick up medications. read more

EGADS!! Gave them another try.... Reordered meds on Sunday, automated system said it would be ready Monday 10am. Knew that wouldn't be true. So I waited until WEDNESDAY - STILL NOT READY. again over promised. Why don't they get more pharmacists and counter people? Made an appointment for a flu shot... came appropriately early to check in and ended up waiting over an hour past the appointment time. It's disappointing and an inexcusable loss of time for something that is a simple shot. Not even sure if it's a lack of staff or just complete incompetence on how to operate efficiently. Sometimes you don't know how good you got it until you go somewhere else. The other day, I went to a different store to have a prescription filled because I thought it would be fast. However, this big box store that some people pronounce with a French affectation, was a holy nightmare and in the end I would've saved time and aggravation just going to Bartell. The pharmaceutical staff at Bartell are great. I'm not in here often, but they remember me by name. Over the years, my prescriptions have always been promptly and correctly filled. The store is consistently immaculate and appealing. Something else that speaks high praise for Bartell: there's no turnover in the staff. You always see the same faces. I am more amused about it than anything, but considering what hard liquor does to the human body, I find it rather incongruous that Bartell shelves the booze right next to the pharmacy. Another disappointment today. I have just been diagnosed with a condition that requires a prescription treatment. The prescription was ordered from my doctor's office. After two trips, still not ready. Went home empty handed and now delaying treatment. What a shame. I think this is it for me. Sorry to go cause I really like Bartell's but this just doesn't work. Pharmacy over promises and under deliver. I came in to fill my rx one day after my doc called in the script. (Just to give some extra time to prepare). I was told my rx was not ready and they need about 45 mins. The store was closing in an hour at that point so I said I'll come back tomorrow. Came back the next day and guess the 45 mins promise was just to get me out of line because surprise my rx was not ready and they needed another "15 mins." The funny thing is it was the same pharmacy assistant who told me the night before it would be ready in 45 mins. I don't mind waiting, but don't lie my face. Give me a real time frame because no one has all day to drive back and forth to pick up a prescription that was supposedly ready for them read more

Pharmacy frequently forgets to turn on their drive thru system. On more than one occasion I sit there without a dial tone or any acknowledgement only to give up and go inside the store. If someone is sick or disabled this could just be an inconvenience and at worst a public safety issue. The upper management of the company also has not properly staffed this location for quite awhile. You can tell because while the employees are always hustling and working hard, they are run to the bone and the wait times are long. Especially in the pharmacy. This pharmacy was fine until the backend migration a couple of months ago. The new automated systems (like the text messages) seem cool in theory but I'm not sure they're worth the trouble. Since that migration I've had prescriptions not ready when the automated systems says they'll be ready and when I go in the line is always absolutely enormous. As other people have mentioned, the situation with the pharmacy is terrible and I have to wonder if Rite Aid is intentionally trying to kill off the Bartell brand for some reason. Consider other options if you're thinking about having prescriptions filled at this location and at Bartell locations in general as the reviews of other locations are just as bad. read more

Update: The Eastside district manager called me back the next day. She is going to take care of my gift cards. However, I would still not recommend buying and expecting to use a gift card at Bartells. Additionally, the level of customer service at the store level is not good. read more

I like how friendly these people are at your friendly Bartell's. Seriously. I live a few blocks away and they recognize my face by now. But they are so helpful, always ask me if I need help, and always extends their hand--and goes above and beyond. I like how sometimes, their products are cheaper than Target so I won't have to drive out too far. Their pharmacy is nice--sometimes takes a while, but really nice. They always want to give you cheap prices/comparisons, and they want to inform you. Very helpful people. Once in a blue moon, look out for their nail polish sales! I go ballistic, haha. I do prefer more expensive nail polish, but at times, Wet N' Wild & Sinful Colors will have somewhat cute colors for me. read more
