I love going here! Whether I have an eczema flare up or need a mole removed, I always look to Nicki. She's so fun, knowledgeable, patient, & gets me in & out quickly. The front desk staff are always friendly & efficient. The assistants are just as kind & friendly, too. The office is comfortable, as well. read more

Techinicians were just fine, but the support staff, not so much. Need to refill a prescription? Good luck. Need to reschedule an appointment? No flexibility. Need them to interact with your pharmacist? Won't happen. Did you get forwarded to the nurses line? Guaranteed you will get a recording, and be suprised if you get a call back. They will refer you to a pharmacy other than your own, intending to save you money... nice...but good luck dealing with the mystery pharmacy or getting Riva to help you out . These are not just my experiences, but my husband's as well. There is better out there, I hope. read more

I've been going to Riva in Cornelius for at least 4 years for skin cancer checkups. In April, it was confirmed I had 2 spots that indeed were Cancer. I wanted to get a second opinion on how to go about removal bc there are so many methods. I called Riva and told them, I wanted to stop by and pick up my records to take them to my 2nd Opinion. They said they could save me a trip and email them over. I said, Great. My appointment was the next day, I get into my room with a Dr, PA, Nurse and myself and Riva never sent my records over! We can't even discuss the type of Cancer I have bc my 2nd Opinion has nothing to look at. They tell me, if I can get them faxed over within 20 minutes we can discuss. If not, I will have to reschedule. So I quickly call Riva, the Records Mgr immediately takes the defense and says "We would never send your records somewhere without you signing a release." I said, " Well whoever offered it, in fact did just that. In fact, she called me back to ask if they made the appt for 2nd opinion or if I did. Then assured me the records were sent." The Records Manager argued and said that couldn't have happened bc that's not how they do things. I said "Ma'm I am not here to argue with you, I have 15 minutes to get these records here at my appointment that I am at now. Can you send me them? She said, Well not without a release form signed." She was miserable, acted like her job was golden, acted like I was wasting her time and I had to problem solve for her! So she says she will take care of it. Does it happen? NO!!!! She never sends anything!!! I end up paying $77 and rescheduling a Cancer Removal appointment. Not a beauty appt but CANCER!!!! I get in touch with Cynthia the Office Manager at Riva. She swears up and down they sent it. However she cannot produce the forms that said they were sent. I learned from my 2nd Opinion they were sent the day of my appointment at 3:10pm. My appt was 11:15. And they explained they both get forms when things are sent and received. Then Cynthia went on to say that they use special software between the offices and it can be slow, like even by a day or two. I called her bluff on this one. I said "Cynthia, it's 2025, if someone is actually dying of Cancer, nobody would be using such outdated software that took up to 2 days. In this day and age, Dr offices and hospitals need it instantaneously." She finally decided to just shut her mouth. Her apology was worth nothing and they refused to pay the $77 for the lost appointment due to their lazy entitled Records Manager who deserves to be fired bc she does not care about patients especially ones with CANCER!!! Cynthia the Office Manager does not care about people with CANCER! If I could get this place shut down, I would! Do not go to any Riva location. They have low stars for a reason on Yelp! read more

I was severely traumatized at this dermatologist by provider N. L. Their new Patient appointment slots are only 15 minutes and within five minutes she was already blaming me for my condition and not hearing me out. Not sure how you can give someone an exam in 15 minutes when it's complex. She was sarcastic, snappy, and not willing to go past surface level research for my condition. she belittled my condition. She dismissed my discomfort and I quote her said I have a "psychological issue" making me feel like i was making it up. I had visible lesions and possible infection on my face and she said she saw nothing. I ended up doing a virtual appointment 8 hours later due to the pain and discomfort and that video provider said he was shocked and saw immediate signs of infection through the video. He called in antibiotic and a cream to help. i know their office is aware, and they have responded to my review on another site, very kindly and professionally but this was the worst new patient experience I have ever had... read more

I'm not sure what the poor reviews on this place are regarding but I visit the Riva in Cornelius and absolutely love the staff! I would highly encourage anybody to visit and schedule with Ashley- she is sweet and listens to your skincare needs. read more

I recently made an appointment for a complete skin exam and met with Ashley Noone. I am new to the area and on the hunt for a new to me, local Derm office. Based on their Google reviews and the convenient (for me) location, I booked with this office. Unfortunately, I have had extremely poor dermatology experiences in the past so I am always a bit nervous. I met with Ashley Noone and her assistant and they were both so amazing. Ashley is friendly, warm, and made me feel comfortable right away. She was thorough and verbalized the whole process so I was informed each step of the way. Ashley presented possible issues that we can keep our eyes on and also presented existing issues that would need treatment. Awful! Run somewhere else! The office staff is dismissive and rude. The billing with try to triple charge for one treatment and then you can never get in contact with any one to help you. The referral department is the worst division of the whole disaster. It is a shame since the practitioners are fantastic! Terrible customer service. Office staff does not want to help. Billing Department non existent. All that was needed was a receipt, after 2 weeks of phone calls and being put off. The staff at this office is very rude and unprofessional, getting the nurse to call you back is very difficult and when you get lucky enough for a call back, she seems put out. I've been to this office several times for a skin issue and after A LOT of money spent with no results, they still did not listen to me and my concerns. My advice is find a different office that cares about their patients. read more

Went in for a consultation with Mari because she is the one who they said performs the cosmetic procedures associated with the skin such as their lasers and peels. She recommended the ipl laser plus a chemical peel but wanted me to "switch up" my routine by purchasing their Obagi products and also come in for monthly facials. The total cost of the products and facials is more than the procedures themselves. She really pushed her maintenance plan which is not as strong as the prescription their own dermatologist have me taking. She came across as an esthetician pushing expensive products and wanting a monthly customer instead of truly trying to improve my skin. Very disappointed. read more

I love RIVA! (...and love that they now have an office near me in Denver!) We moved to the Lake Norman area from CA about 3 1/2 years ago and I made an appt with LINDSAY JAYSON, PA-C at the Cornelius office for an annual skin check. When I arrived, I was impressed by the cleanliness and decor of the office and that everyone - from the receptionist to the professional staff - was courteous and knowledgeable. Months Iater I made an appt with DR. SHAFRAN, MD, FAAD for a consult on some aesthetic work I was thinking about. His credentials, skill, and calm demeanor put me at ease immediately... And let me take a moment to praise ERIN DICE, PA-C. Hers was the friendly and caring face that greeted me and treated my poor left foot when I spilled boiling hot peanut oil on it. She prescribed some magic healing gel and now you cannot see a single scar or anything on my foot. Thank you Erin for being so attentive and caring. Fast forward to today - I finally pulled the trigger on that cosmetic procedure and Dr Shafran exceeded the impression he'd made on me when I first met him. After becoming a patient and having and spending money for products marked up 100% and only seeing people who might have only worked at the Belk's counter ---I came to realize this was not really a medical office and maybe the skin care is not exactly well thought out or professional. First and foremost, I read a lot of negative reviews about this office. The experience I had today was far from that. I am BLOWN AWAY by the POSITIVE experience I received. I scheduled an emergency appointment after finding a large lump on my head, they got me in the NEXT day, and were able to remove the lump at this same visit. I received a kind reception greeting over the phone and when I arrived, which calmed my nerves. The dermatologist I saw was knowledgeable, kind and made me feel like she actually cared about my issue. I couldn't be more impressed. My advice for those reading these reviews is to give the Cornelius office a try.. I am so grateful for this experience and same-day service. Thank you!! read more

Horrible customer service. Rude and uninviting staff. Always seem to run late. Terrible office space.

Very dissapointing. I was a patient at the Mooresville location and the staff was phenomenal. I have since relocated to AZ and I cant get into another dermatologist until late July. I asked Riva to fill one remaining script until I get into my new dermatologist and they refused. This is the reality of today....you are only important to them while your in their care. I decided to try the cool sculpting and looked around for different places and decided on Riva Dermatology. This is probably the worst investment that I have ever made. $2,400 for 2 sections and it did nothing. It has been 4 months and I have been eating healthy and walking every day. I have left two messages for the location and have not heard anything back. I had hoped that they would try to work with me, but nothing. I do not recommend spending the money on cool sculpting. read more

I had an appointment with Mari (Esthetician) today in the Denver office. I booked this appointment almost two months out. I've been to Riva multiple times in the past for facials and have never once been late (Cornelius and Denver). Typically, I'm waiting 10 minutes in the lobby myself to be seen and I have never complained. Today, I got stuck in lunch time traffic. It happens, right? My appointment was at 12:30PM. I called the Cornelius office to give them a curtesy call that I was two minutes away. They thanked me and said they would notify the Denver office. Never once mentioned my appointment would be canceled. When I walked into the Denver office at 12:35PM (5 minutes late), I was told Mari could no longer see me. I was shocked. Not once was I warned my appointment would be canceled for being 5 minutes late even though in the past I've sat in the lobby multiple times and waited my turn. To rebook my "canceled" appointment it was another month wait even though I've been waiting almost two months for this appointment. When I came for my appointment two months ago, I was rushed at the end of my facial and didn't even have a chance to ask the Esthetician what products to use on my face nor did she recommend any. Terrible customer service! I I was treated unfairly today especially for how much you pay for a facial service. I will not be returning for this reason. read more

My daughter and I had the most wonderful experience today. After being a patient at one of the popular Dermatology offices and feeling like just a number, we decided to try this place. The Dermatologist actually sat down and talked to my daughter and myself instead of zooming in and out in like three minutes. She explained the origin of her acne, treatment options and even explained to my daughter on how to swallow pills! Samples were given and within the hour, the pharmacy had called to set up her medication order! We definitely made the right decision on switching practices. read more

I had an IPL done last month at Riva Aesthetic Dermatology. To say that I was happy with my results is an understatement! Almost all of the sun damage on my face was erased by this laser procedure. I feel like I can go out without foundation and have my skin look "even". All of my friends witnessed my results and are following my lead to have an IPL at Riva. Now I am trying to take better care of my skin and always wear sunscreen. read more

This dermatology office seems to act more as a plastic surgery/ cosmetic med spa rather than that of a place to go for medical skin concerns. I saw one of the PA's for my cystic acne which had been diagnosed by my old dermatologist which I had to leave because I had moved. The PA that I saw refused to see that it was cystic acne and put me on a plan that I had tried previously and did not work and actually caused more skin issues. When I told her this, she did not listen to my concerns. As a pre-med student, myself, I was asking her questions about the side effects of her plan of action which she did not seem to know much about. I did not feel comfortable in her knowledge of dermatology. I feel like they should rebrand themselves as a med spa rather than a true dermatology office. After this experience, I decided it was better to just pay the extra on the gas and drive the hour (one way) to my medically competent dermatologist for my monthly visits. read more

I do not recommend this doctor. We had been seeing his former PA who left recently who was wonderful. But after waiting over 40 minutes past our appt time, he came in and was verbally confrontational and patronizing. When questioned about a treatment change he wanted - a working treatment -he said if we disagreed with him we could leave and go elsewhere. I had sent 3 new patients to this practice based on my prior experience with the former PA who was great but I will not send anyone else to them and specifically not to Dr. Shafran. I've never had a dr act in such a way and it was very uncomfortable for my teen there with me also who was actually the patient. read more

I was beyond impressed with my first contact with Lindsay Jayson. Her knowledge of skin care and her kindness was enlighting. She warmly greeted my famiy and was quick to diagnose and treat my sons skin problem. She made me and my son feel comfortable throughout the appointment even though he had to have places removed.
