The food is really good, but the service is horrible. This is a 2 star restaurant connected to a gas station. A party of four and we were charged $40 for gratuity because we were considered a large party. So we asked to each pay for our own meals separately and we're still charged a $10 tip per person. We were also charged $1.99 per dish for adding seasoning to fries. And charged extra for two pieces of bread. very bad management read more

It's always disquieting to dine in any establishment alone, especially at the height of the meal hour, but I had been here a couple of times before years ago, so I took another chance. I must say, I chose wisely. The staff were friendly and attentive (as they should've been since I was the only one here) and the food was EXCELLENT. The Philly Cheesesteak was undoubtedly one of the best I'd ever had, with plenty of tender, hot, well-seasoned, razor thin sliced steak covered in a hot, gooey cheese and some onions. The bread was perfectly toasted to be thinly crispy on the crust, and soft inside. I also had the house chips, which I think consisted of several potatoes, and very well seasoned. Fantastic chips! The food was good, but there must be some shortage on motivated employees. No one was working with any sense of urgency, yet we were given a 45 minute wait time when we walked into an almost empty restaurant. They sat us much earlier than that, but the service was sub-par, at best. The server tried to bring us bottled water. We asked for tap water because we didn't want to pay for the bottled water. The server didn't mention that we would still be charged a dollar each for the tap water. We were given our food, but no silverware. I guess the server had to go roll the silverware for us because it was a few minutes before we got any, while our meals cooled in front of us. He had also forgot to bring the salad that came with one of the meals. All the tables around us were dirty. Even those that had been bussed had not been wiped off. This would have take only a few seconds, but the staff were busy hanging out at the front desk. The food was good, but this was a really disappointing experience. Also, the place was hard to find. Our GPS took us right to Rivals, but the outside sign said "R Steak House." It wasn't until we decided to go inside that a small sign written in chalk said "Welcome to Rivals." read more

This place has the aesthetic to be a really nice steakhouse. HOWEVER, 1. The chairs are the dirtiest things ever. 2. Pay attention to your bill. They add things on you didn't order. 3. If you get anything but regular fries you're getting an up charge. But they don't communicate that to you when they ask if you want regular fries, seasoned fries, etc. 4. What in the world is the gelatinous vinaigrette dressing? 5. Minute rice and not real rice. 6. There was never an apology for any errors or lack of service. 7. We tried going 3 separate times and never got sat, went a 4th time just to try and finally got sat but we're the only people in the restaurant. The mozzarella sticks were alright but only came with 4, the pasta was flavorless, and the steak tasted like it was soaked in soy sauce beforehand. LONG POST ALERT So my friend had a birthday dinner at Rivals Steakhouse. When I arrived three friends had already been seated with their drinks and had their orders taken. The beginning was good, the waitress came she took our orders and came back with drinks as fast as she could. I ordered the Grateful Dead drink, it tasted HORRIBLE & before you ask No this isn't my first time ordering this drink here, I've been here several times. Anyway I sent it back and ordered a coke. About 10 minutes later the waitress brings it back & said it was remade, I stated I didn't want it remade I traded it for the coke (the drink had not been remade at all just sat on the counter & brought back to me) I asked for the manager. After my issue many other issues occurred, my order came before any of the orders that had been taken before I got there. One of those orders the lady never even put the order! Then she went in the kitchen to "rush" the forgotten order and brought out COLD FOOD! A steak was ordered but the sides were wrong. No one recieved refills on their drinks (they offered us to-go drinks at the end, after speaking to the manager we were ignored until they wanted to rush us to pay tickets & leave) Speaking of this "manager" she was also the "bartender" that made the nasty concoction I was supposed to drink. When she came to the table & I explained my issue she stated that she made the drink for other people and had no problem & that the drink was nasty because it had so many alcohols in it & this is why I should read the menu so I know what's in the drinks before I order them. Now this pissed me off cause now you tryna insinuate I can't read? Mind you this a over 40 year old woman dressed in short shorts & a tank top as if she's working for Coyote Ugly and "managing" It's a bunch of liquor in a walk me down and it's good asf so this drink tasting horrible is because she doesn't know what she's doing behind that bar! Then to admit that you don't taste the drink to know what they taste like that means you don't know what they're supposed to taste like either to tell me whether you could have possibly made this one wrong! I went on a Monday afternoon. I was seated at an unclean table and served unseasoned food. The food literally tasted like they just cooked it with no seasoning whatsoever. I enjoyed my salad more than my meal. I've been here before and never had an experience like this before. Came during lunchtime on a Friday, so it was understandably a little slow when it came to service as they only had one server available. I have never ordered a steak in my life that was soaked in a marinade that taste like A1. The waitress told me the steak would be taken off because my husband could not eat it. Then the manager/bartender tells me policy is if you order it you have to pay for it and HER husband has been doing the marinade for seven years. My date and I came to Rivals at approximately 6 P.M. on a Wednesday and we were quickly taken to a dirty table for 2. This normally wouldn't be a problem but there was only a handful of patrons and they were sitting at the bar. Our server, was a guy named Kaylee, which I thought was kinda weird, but we are in Mississippi, so I just kinda went with it. We both ordered Philly Cheesesteak and fries. My date asked for meat, cheese and bread on her sandwich, very basic. I asked for meat, mayo, onions, and bacon, if possible. Kaylee decided that she did not need to write any of this down. About 20 minutes later we received our sandwiches, my date had a beautiful Philly Cheesesteak just as she ordered, but with mayo. I on the other hand got a Philly Cheesesteak with no mayo, peppers, onions, no bacon, but a ton of juicy mushrooms, they would have been awesome to someone who likes the savory, smokey taste of sautéed mushrooms. The hamburgers and steaks here are second to NONE! amazing flavor!! Salads decent and menu choices huge. Went into restraunt prior to close, myself and my best friend wanted a quick treat and their sweets are not bad. So we are told to just head to the bar, so sitting down the lady takes 10 minutes to even acknowledge us then she asks for our ids but rushes off so we wait another 5 to 10 minutes to show her our IDs then we let her no we are not getting alcohol just desserts she then wants to tell me that my she could not take my military id because state of Mississippi requires regular license only which is a lie, nor did she hand me either of my two IDs back to my hand only to the side and then did not come back. She returned roughly 5 minutes later with menus and talked to some other customers saying the kitchen was about to close and she was supposed to tell us that, mind you we walked in with over 30 to 40 minutes before the place was supposed to close (we asked on the way out the host stated the kitchen was open when we walked in). But after she made her statement to other customers we waited roughly 7 or 8 more minutes more than left because she was not coming back clearly. I gave four stars mostly because for this area this is a really good choice. They have a decent selection of draft beer including a couple of craft beers. We ordered fried green beans to start for something different and they were good. My husband got the blue cheese burger and said it was excellent. I had the buffalo chicken salad and it was ok. Would have been better with mixed greens rather than plan old iceberg lettuce but really didn't expect that much so not a deal breaker. Dressing was said to be in house made and was good. The wait is unfortunate.. the staff is either too busy on their phones or too busy chatting with other staff to help you. We waited 14 mins IN AN EMPTY dining room to even have our drink order taken. But even though the dining room was empty, we watched 3 employees come by and a 4th talking and laughing so loud as they passed our table that we literally just got up and left.
