Fantastic one stop shop in Stanley! We went in for some coffee but found great souvenir shirts for our kids, some new gear for ourselves, great coffee & breakfast burritos, and wonderful service and conversation with the owner. We were able to fuel up for the day and grab some new base layers & jackets too. River1 carries an incredible selection -- North Face, Cotopaxi, Patagonia, Free Fly, Oncloud. River 1 is absolutely the best store in Stanley!! They kindly let us barrow tent stakes for our most memorable stay at Stanley Lake Campground. We didn't have any coffee, but it sure smelled good! We did however get a couple goodies and enjoyed a chat with the manager. Pros? Great local clothing store - tons of sport and casual clothes, like a mini-REI. They also have loads of excellent stickers in the case by the front door - great souvenirs for friends back home or camp mates! Excellent service, super friendly folks - they even offered me free ice cream (but sadly, I can't eat dairy). Excellent shop - catch the "end of season" sale. read more

An odd mix of outdoor clothing and coffee, but surprisingly it works. If your girlfriend needs a new pair of pants because she carelessly left her expensive Lulu Lemon pants at an establishment hundreds of miles away and you are hangry and coffee deprived because every other place in town is either closed or packed, then this is the place for you. We went in there to get 2 out of state fishing licenses. After being told by 2 other places in town that we needed to go to River 1, when we went there to purchase them, the employee/owner? told us no, we had to call the Idaho Fish and Wildlife. We did call but we're not able to get connected with a person on the phone. Later, other family members went into the same store to look at the clothing, which I had recommended to them. While there they asked about fishing licenses and he said that he sells them. My sister said, my family came in to buy them today and you said no. His response was, oh well, I only sell them if I'm not busy. There was not one shopper in the store and he was folding sweatshirts! So rude! I was going to go back today and buy some clothing, spend more money, but chose not to since he lied to us about purchasing a fishing license. read more

I visited this shop all the time and could not believe the new things I found each time! A great range of reliable gear at even better prices!
