We visited Whitefish in July 2020 and bought a few things from Outwest, when we returned home to California I realized 2 of the items were the wrong size, so I contacted them and Tina, Katie & Hans all went above and beyond to get me the sizes and styles I needed! We're visiting the area for a Mother's Day getaway, and I was so turned off by my experience today…read more I have four boys, aged 1-10. I was holding the baby and allowing my other boys to check out and select a "souvenir" from the children's/toy section. We were enjoying the selection so much until the lady from the register came up to say "I'm going to need you guys to settle down and make sure everything goes back where you got it"... I literally thought for a moment she was joking with us. I'm a strict parent; my kids learned from the time they were tiny that if they are disrespectful to people, property, or myself, they'll be immediately taken back to the car and disciplined. I was very confused by this lady's confrontation as they were behaving perfectly fine. I asked her "did we do something?" because I was genuinely confused but she turned around and walked back to her post behind the register. I told my kids we're not buying anything from here today, and everybody filed out immediately. My boys were genuinely confused as well as to why they weren't welcome to shop there. I told them either that lady is having a bad day or she's a grump with disdain for children, but either way we will not give her our money or let her ruin our day. I left shaky and with a pit in my stomach. This review will probably have no impact on the business, as it's a small town and people don't have a lot of options to find souvenirs or antiques elsewhere, but the mama bear in me was really bothered that my kids were snubbed and they'll always remember that when they think back on this family weekend.

It is a wonderful vendor based shop. Antiques, gifts, new and vintage clothing, jewelry, local art work, drinks, snacks, taxidermy etc. The Merc is under new ownership and has received multiple improvements including a stellar paint job. Stop by the gas pumps and check it out.
