Not to mention one of the smoke detectors batteries was going out which was highly annoying while getting ready. Don't waste your money on the "Barn Loot". The sweetheart tables were all broken with wobbly legs. Erica is also quite something. During our tour, I notified her we would have less than 100 guests to which she told me she could coordinate at no cost. Just a couple months before the wedding she decided to not keep her word and essentially told me that my husband and I were lying about her having said that. So wedding day I did not have a coordinator. My friend (who is familiar with the caretaking of cows and steer) notified me the cattle was very poorly cared for. If you're hoping for a wedding day that is problem free, do not choose this place.

It has a quasi Tuscan ambiance, and very open to the golf course beyond. We were seated in a separate party/private dining room from the rest of the restaurant area, and the set up was very nice with large tables and accommodating space. They had set up a coffee and refreshment area in an adjoining room with a great view out to the golf course. I had chicken for lunch and it was excellent, far better than many catered type events. It was on a bed of mashed potatoes and had asparagus, both well prepared. There seemed to be a bit of understaffing which is to be expected these days, with some minor missteps. For example, the creamer for coffee came way after the coffee service was set up and available. All in all I do recommend this place. It is open to the public and it is a very nice option for a good meal.

In the prior year they provided a stage, they wouldn't supply a stage this year (said it was broken). They pulled the buffet early despite being told there were some late people coming causing some to miss the meal. They charge 500-700 for the banquet room. When I asked if they could waived all or part of that fee given all the problems, they said no. I will never have my company event there again.

I've DJed here twice now, and both times the sound was definitely monitored pretty closely by the venue owner. There's a decibel reader mounted on a tree near the DJ area, and I was told the music needed to stay under 75 dB. Both times, once dancing started, the owner was standing near me watching the sound level, pointing at the meter and asking me to turn it down. This even happened around 8 PM when the sun was still out. I'm starting to notice this more and more with certain wedding venues. Years ago, you showed up as the DJ, set up your sound system and rocked the party. Now at some venues, it feels like people get nervous the second they see you bringing in subwoofers. I completely understand venues have neighbors, property restrictions and rules they have to follow, but couples should know about those restrictions before choosing a venue if having a loud dance party is important to them. There was also a funny situation during load-in. I backed my vehicle in and one of the staff members told me I couldn't park where I was because I had driven onto the grass. I moved immediately. There were already other tire marks there, but afterward they actually asked me to rake the grass so it looked like I hadn't driven on it. In all my years DJing weddings, that was definitely a first . But I grabbed the rake and did it. Overall, the property itself is beautiful and has great views. My main reason for leaving this review is just so couples know what to expect. Based on my experience DJing there twice, if your priority is having a loud, high-energy dance party with substantial bass, this probably wouldn't be my first recommendation because of the sound restrictions and how closely the decibel level is monitored. If louder music isn't important to you and you're okay with those restrictions, then the venue itself is a beautiful setting for a wedding.

However with that said many things went wrong. The grooms family wanted to do the cooking. When we asked if we could use their kitchen , at first they said no. Then they said we could use it if we paid for their chef to be present while we were using it. Not an ideal situation, but we agreed to it. We wanted to rent their plates and silverware and they refused saying that we couldn't use them because they were not doing the catering. I then had to go to a local rental company and rent plates and silverware. I paid almost $400 for that rental. Seems to me that the Elks Lodge could have made an extra $400 if they rented us the dinnerware. Go figure! During the months prior to the wedding, communication was less than perfect. No return phone calls, missed appointment, etc. We were working with a woman named Shawn. Shawn didn't recall many of the arrangements than were made, and had it not been for saved text's to prove we had agreed on certain things, we would have been in trouble. The day prior to the wedding, we paid for the use of Lodge and kitchen at 3:00. We received a call saying the chef had no transportation and they were going to be late. The wedding day I have to admit that the Lodge looked beautiful. Of course we provided all the decorations. However I want to give credit where credit is due. A member of the lodge, Mike set up all the tables and all of the chairs outside. He did an awesome job. Mike was kind enough to do this voluntarily. The wedding itself went pretty smoothly with one exception. We had to purchase the wine and champagne from the Elks Lodge. I ordered way too much. There was two bottles on every table. In addition there was about three more cases as backup if needed. Shawn told the bartenders to open all the wine. So I ended up bringing home all that opened wine which of course would only last a few days. What a waste of money. When I shared with Shawn my dismay on why all the wine got opened, I asked her if she would be willing to reimburse me for the unused open wine. Shawn's replay was, "You ordered it you own it"! Three cases of wine that had to be poured down the drain!!! Just one more note there, the bartenders where on the rude side! When it was time to clean up we had to clean the kitchen. The chef never showed up and we didn't know exactly where things went. They refused to let us use their commercial dishwasher, so we washed everything by hand. I'm wondering what the health department would have to say about that given that kitchenware needs to be cleaned at a certain temperature to be sanitary. All in all, the venue was very nice and the wedding ended up being beautiful! Had it not been for the poor service that Shawn provided I would have easily rated the Lodge a five!

It was 104 and people as well as the wedding cake and flowers were melting. There are many venues closer to accommodations for out of town guests that are not as costly. The cost of venue did not include the food , alcohol, dj, photographer officiant or florals. There was no running water except a hose and the portable bathroom trailer sink. No place to get out of the heat except the one stall portable handicap bathroom. Day of Coordinator didn't even speak to me although I was in the barn decorating over two hours. She just swooshed in and out. Both bride and grooms getting ready rooms were so hot. At least the brides room has a wall unit although it didn't help on such a hot day. This venue has potential but for being so far out without air conditioning or running water I would cross it off my list for May-September event.

Due to COVID, we had to postpone our wedding from May 2020 to September 2020. Luckily, they were available on our new date and were very understanding and accommodating. They have so many packages to cater to any of your needs and can even customize a package for you. Their cocktails are also high end, taste delicious, and even look beautiful! One of my favorite cocktails is a dragonberry mojito at a local restaurant we frequent, so when I brought this up to Alyson, she ran with it and purchased a dragonfruit just for our tasting. It was so delicious and cute! They make all their own syrups and can provide literally everything (juices, garnishes, ice, cups, straws, etc.), besides the actual alcohol. It was so convenient. We also had a Kentucky Mule and Classic Margarita. We also purchased beer kegs since their bars have a built-in tap system/kegerator. Our wedding day would not have been the same without the Black & Tan. It was meant to be at our venue! Our guests are still raving about the bar (drinks and the bar itself) and the service.
