In the last 12 years the store has been extended 3 times and even more recently has been re-furbished which means that although it's exterior looks like something from the 70's, the interior is modern, fresh and airy, just like every other modern M&S. I might be slightly biased as I worked in the store for 7 years, albeit several years ago, but I reckon the staff in the Hamilton store are among the most helpful and friendly staff employed by M&S and this is reflected in the neat and tidy, well stocked shelves/racks in the store. One of the best additions to the store in the last few years is the coffee shop - it's well worth a visit!

And then like a shimmering white eruption of sophistication at the end of the world trusty M&S looms into view. The branch of Marks and Spencer itself is probably what you would expect in a small town, recently modernised to the new M&S decor and display styles they squeeze quite a lot in, although don't expect the same range as you would find in a city centre or out-of-town style branch. They have smaller ranges of the usual clothing departments, a home accessories section and a cafe. The food-hall is good for this size of store; at the end of the day, post-work, the shelves are generally well stacked as the staff are busy beavering away to replenish the stock. This is the part of the shop that I visit most and do find it to be the busiest, at least in the evening when I think most of the customers are popping-in on their way home.

The store is welcoming and easy to access so ideal for wheelchairs and prams. They stock the usual items of clothing for the whole family although it is not the biggest store it does have trousers, jeans, tops etc for both women and men and a nice small children's section. I needed a pair of wellies but the child's feet were so small but i found a pair here and the person was delighted. The cost was not too expensive compared to other shops. The store is well lit and the stock is displayed so you can located what your looking for easily. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Big enough to stock a large proportion of their line, this store also has large changing rooms and friendly staff. It's also paired up with a number of other similar high street stores in the close vicinity - which makes the Fort a great option for a shopping trip. This isn't an outlet store, and you won't find items here any cheaper than you would in either of their city centre stores. However, they usually have a couple of sale rails where you can pick up some great bargains - so its worth keeping an eye out!

But Next must be doing something right as I've witnessed first hand the crazy bargain shoppers queuing outside at six in the morning on sale days to get their hands on some discounted goodies. Next is one of my favourite places to shop for baby clothes for friends and family. Until recently I had no idea how expensive baby clothes could be! Next have a huge range of super cute outfits and they are all quite reasonably priced, I even saw a little shirt and tie for a baby boy last week - very suave.

The prices are varied some to me are a bit expensive for what they are and I think that is why the sale is so popular because the quality is good. There is a children's section to the rear which is well stocked and the clothes are seperated and displayed by age. The upper level of the store accessed by a small lift or stairs stocks mens clothing from shirts to belts to trousers etc. A nice next though to have a look around it is a bright store and the staff are helpful.

Several businesses are standing empty and the whole centre could probably do with a little sprucing up. Mostly what's available here is at the lower budget end of the high street, however large branches of M&S and Debenhams can be found here too. Probably the most interesting section is the food court, which has several cafes and eateries that look pretty great - including milkshake, pizza, hot dog and ice cream places, as well as a general cafeteria-style cafe. It makes sense to come shopping here for basics, or to get out of the rain, and the idea of stopping for some lunch when your shopping is done is pretty appealing with the options available here.

There is Argos, Woolworth's and ELC for toy shopping. There is a large car park attached to the shopping centre which has many disabled and family spaces on the 3rd floor. There are two main toilet areas which are kept clean and well stocked. There is also a good baby changing area which has a toddler sized toilet, breastfeeding cubicles and baby changing mats. The centre in general is always clean and the floors are regularly swept and moped.
