Downtown is anchored by the Arkansas Pier, Clinton Library & Old State Hose Museum. The Ottenheimer Market Hall has an array of international cuisine under one roof. There is a walking tour in the area with over 100 sculptures. The Metro Streetcar is the local transport. Parking is free on weekends. When we walked inside we saw nurses checking locals blood pressure. The farmers market in the back closed for the season after Labor Day. Unfortunately the market it's only open from 10 to 2 Monday through Saturday. We walked past Thai, Korean, Lebanese, Greek, Mexican, Italian ... food vendors. There were tables in the middle. The river market has food, coffee, and shops. There is also a main stage on the backside facing the riverfront. I did not enter the market, but I viewed the grounds. I ate at surrounding restaurants, and decided to visit the park instead. read more

This market is so sketchy. There are lots of food options yes but all make me question the cleanliness and the crowd was rough. I would not go out of my way to stop here and I would never take my kids to this place again. You're better off getting to go food from a restaurant and sitting in the riverfront park. It is nothing like a food market I've been to in other cities. It's in the middle of downtown and homeless people all around. read more

And if all the creepy satanists of Arkansas shopped here, it'd be the Ritual Market. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The River Market is the heart and soul of one of my favorite cities in the country. Little Rock is little appreciated, but it is absolutely beautiful and relaxed and friendly and the kind of place where I could spend a long time. I've also had wonderful concerts here. My first memory is of Little Rock came from randomly coming up on the River Market when I was a teenager and had never heard of the River Market. Those were back in the days a Bill Clinton. The good old days really. I miss those days. These days the River Market is a little more expensive and a little more touristy, but it is still very much worth your time if you are in the Little Rock area. If you only have an hour to spend in Little Rock, spend half an hour wandering around the market area and half an hour inside. Simples. In fact, I'll meet you here for lunch tomorrow. I lived in Central Arkansas when River Market first opened and it was a very nice place. In the years since it appears to have slid a bit into a more touristy area. The River Market Hall closes at two and drastically reduces the food selection. Still a few restaurants on the streets and a couple of bars. The Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square has an art gallery featuring largely Arkansas artists and sells handmade items such as jewelry and other locally-made crafts closes at 5pm which doesn't allow much of a cultural experience in the evenings. There are a couple of pavilions which play stage to bands on occasion. There are a surprising number of panhandlers on the streets both day and night, which wasn't allowed in earlier years and detracts from the area. Insufficient parking is another issue. The highlight of the area is the sculpture garden and walking trails by the river. All in all, not a bad place for locals who have a favorite eating place/watering hole on occasion and likely not a bad place for tourists who are staying downtown but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it. read more

Meh...was expecting something g full of local trades and stuff but it was a cafeteria of different foods. The shops nearby were mundane. The best part would be the park and the sculptures and the library. They have some pretty cool local artwork for sale that was about the only thing interesting to me on that street. read more

Drove thru the River Market. Streets were really narrow and parking could be very difficult to find. Loved how everything is within walking distance and in the immediate vicinity. Several bars and eateries align the main street. There is also an outdoor theater/area where bands play and production occur. At night, be cautious. We drove thru after 10p and there were a lot of crotch rockets parked on the main drag. Peeps scoping the passersby and this could be a little intimidating! read more

The River Market has definitely changed over the years. It is a nice area to go shopping and get a bite to eat. There are so many great places to eat at. The walking is not bad either. There are several hotels in the area as well. If you like music there is always something going on at one of the bars or the Rev Room. Make sure you stop by the Flying Saucer and get you a pretzel. Pretty area. Everything is crowded on President Clinton Ave and sometimes difficult to find parking. There is however more parking near the burrito place with a fee depending on the time of day. The walk area around the bridge features historical displays... My favorite thing about the area is the "play ground" Its probably not safe at all. There's rock climbing, tunnels to crawl through, and I adore the "web" jungle gym. My love and I went here on Valentine's Day in the evening... lots of couples. Oh River Market - shining jewel of Little Rock's downtown tourist center! It's a really nice space, especially on a sunny day, the interior is really well designed to take advantage of natural light, and is also super-efficient, offering a surprising number of food options and seating in a small space. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's absolutely worth checking out! My personal favorites are Bobby's Bike Hike in the corner, and the Big on Tokyo fried rice place (Japanese? Chinese? Fried rice!) and David's Burgers isn't bad - I mean to make the rounds and try everything though! The spicy Phad Thai from... I mean, the Thai place - looks and smells absolutely incredible, that's my next stop! It also benefits a lot from the area nearby. It's a great stop off while you're walking around downtown, but the area itself is a great spot for a stop too. It's park of the River Park, with great walking areas, kid areas, and a pavilion and amphitheater where there are regular events. In any case, check it out if you haven't already! Just don't expect to find parking on the same street ;) read more

Nice food court market with about a dozen various ethnic restaurants. The market is close to the river and makes for a great lunch stop when strolling the riverfront. We ate at the Indian and vegan kiosks and enjoyed our lunches from both. I also saw a burger place for those wanting American food along with a bbq spot, Thai, Mediterranean and a few other ethnicities. There's ample seating in the center so everyone in our party could get the food they wanted and eat together. read more

What's not to love about the River Market? It's one of the must see places if visiting Little Rock. It's full of life, energy, and creativity (although, not reaching it's full potential just yet!) First of all, the Arkansas River runs right along the River Market District. The city has really done a great job of developing trails, walking paths, & entertainment "down by the river", especially these past few years. We currently have Medical Mile, the Arkansas River Trail, and various other trails that make up Riverfront Park. Be sure to walk across the Junction Bridge (links Little Rock and NLR); play in Peabody Park (equipped with a spray fountain, slide, tunnels, and stones for climbing); and take a look around the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden and Arkansas Nature Center. When you have had a chance to see all the sights, grab a meal at one of the many dining locations in the River Market District; or, in the River Market itself which has a large, varying selection. The River Market also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including a farmer's market on Tuesdays & Saturdays; multiple food festivals; Cruisin' the Rock car show; and even an ice skating rink. read more

I love this area of Little Rock. During the day, the Market Hall is open, offering a variety of food options: Middle Eastern, Japanese (& bubble tea!) Thai, BBQ, Boulevard Bread, & Creole. If you're there on a market day, there's a good variety of Arkansas grown produce & tons of vendors selling handmade jewelry, bags, & art. One of my favorite vendors is Beads by Becky, from whom I've purchased about a million beaded necklaces. :) the adjacent park is just exactly "not-safe" enough to feel adventurous for kids, & there's a sculpture garden, too. Very cool walk across the Junction Bridge, which is an old railroad trestle converted to a pedestrian bridge linking downtown LR with downtown NLR. After dark, this district is different. It's much more family friendly during the day, & much more club & music oriented at night. A few friends & I came to catch Béla Fleck & the Flecktones at The Rev Room the last time they were there. We had a great supper & a great show. I keep an eye on the schedules now, waiting for one of my favorite bands to schedule a show at the Rev Room, Sticky's, or somewhere else downtown...so I can justify another trip back. :) read more

There are a couple of things that save this market from mediocrity; the bike rental shop for tourists, and Boulevard Bread Co., which offers above average eats. Otherwise, without the farmers marker that runs from April through October, it's little more than a glorified food court. It's in a cool old building on an interesting stretch of street by the river, but it doesn't compare with North Market in Columbus, The Public Market in Milwaukee, or Cleveland's West Side Market, all of which have more interesting ethnic food vendors as well as actual grocers. I would return for the food at Boulevard Bread and some Thai curry, I'd check out the farmers market during the season, and I'm pleased that they have recycling bins near the restrooms. read more

I really loved the river market. I seriously wish Nashville had one this diverse with the view. My sister had BBQ, I think I had a sandwich and I'm pretty sure my dad had a burger. It's a high end food court! We managed to sneak my cat in, because well, we couldn't leave her in the car. She almost made a jailbreak too. There is plenty to do besides the food options as well. Next time I am in Little Rock, I will for sure, stop by the River Market. read more

If you ever took trips in high school, for fine arts--which I don't like to admit that I did--OR for church functions, you have most likely stopped in large towns in small states to grab a quick bite to eat. This generally entails a shopping mall or something, so as to provide options for all tastes and preferences. Little Rock fits into the exact category and situation that would necessitate that impending "food pit stop." And a very unfortunate stop, I would have to say. My friend ordered two lunches because the first one was so bad. Then, the second one was bad. That was when he knew he didn't like Little Rock. The couple things that make this are the large bakery that envelops the exterior of the "Market" and the local ice cream shop. Other than that, I would say that this is no more attractive and inviting than a simple mall food court. And that just sounds gross, right? It totally brings back memories of the days when one kid would want Wendy's, and you resorted to something "ethnic"--meaning Orange Chicken. Am I right, or am I right? A couple things to note: the burgers and hot dogs are not good. The ethnic food could use some tweaking. Hot-holding elements are largely used here, to boot. I very much do not recommend utilizing this as a one-size-fits-all eatery. Go for some 'cue and/or something more diner-like when in the Rock that is Minuscule. read more

For those from Dallas - the River Market is very similar to the indoor area of the Dallas Farmers Market, except it's all restaurants, and about half the size. I was really expecting more goods and products, but it's literally a food court. The other odd thing is that we went about 3pm and everything was closed except the convenience-store looking place. Had the black bean burger from the convenience store place, and it was pretty good. Tasted well enough to make me think I could go vegetarian. read more

Nothing special about this place. The tables were gross and sticky, no AC on a humid/ hot summer afternoon with two kids, and the food was sub par. I ordered thai food at one of the counters and really wasn't like anything I've had; it was inedible and tasted off. We had an overall poor experience here. read more

Not incredibly exciting, but a nice spot for a quick lunch. I had pork chops, cabbage and sweet potatoes from the soul food stall. After I ordered, I realized I should have added some chicken and dumplings as well. The food was solid home cooking. I'd love to try more items. There are many stalls to choose from, so this place is perfect if everybody wants to eat something different. But other than the soul food place, the options seemed lackluster. read more

Enjoyable oasis among a sea of restaurants (particularly for lunch). Highlights include the Indian place and: - Dave's burgers - with their ever present enthusiasm, unlimited (greasy good) fries, and fantastic sandwiches (burger's good but I even liked the chicken more). Similar to Five Guys but I'd take Dave's. - Bea Blessed bakery- tea cake cookies are like homemade, soft, vanilla wafers writ large. So very good. Others with me tried the other cookies and brownie and Highly recommend them all. - Old Mill Bread - pumpkin bread - so good (made fresh on Wed?). Other breads as well. read more

I have driven thru the River Market several times but recently stopped to just hang out with my dad when he was in town. We went on a Saturday and first stopped at the Vendors before going to go check out the fresh fruit stalls. I was so impressed with how busy it was. There was tons of fresh veggies and fruits along with jewelry and craft stands. There was even a girl doing "feathers" for hair. We had recently eaten breakfast but there were many food vendors including a new Tropical Smoothie place that recently opened. Playground was nice and due to the time of the day that we were there (early AM), there was no one playing so my daughter got to really scope things out. I'm not sure how you review a spot comprised of about a dozen food stands and vendors in a single indoor spot. One place might be better than the other dozen. I've tried and liked the Greek Gyro spot and always a fan of David's Burgers which is the "anchor" at the end of the Market. Some of the reviews on here are disappointed that this isn't a true "market" like say Seattle's Public Market. To which I say, "stuff it." Although, I think if it was called an indoor food truck park it would be a better descriptor to out of towners. But, alas, signage is signage. There is a Farmer's Market out back on the weekend and certain other days for those that wanna be fussy 'bout this. So there. Go in, try some different food. It's a great spot to take your co-workers to because everyone can pick a genre of food they like. It's especially helpful to those of us who work with people with unadventurous palates. They can eat at David's or the pizza or Mexican place. We'll take the Indian or the Nepali joint (Katmandu!). Bon Appetit-o! read more

Love the River Market! Some of the vendors suck some are better than great.

This is about the indoor market and farmers market, not the whole district which is very nice: Pretty cool place. It's not Philly's Reading Terminal, Cleveland's Westside Market, et al. but it's probably as close as a city the size of Little Rock can get to one of those places. Just go with realistic expectations. Personally, I think it's great. There are 10 or so food options, most of which are international, though there's definitely American food too. The food I've had there (Thai, Mexican and hot dogs) has all been good. The atmosphere is cool, and the whole River Market district is nice. My only complaint is that the service tends to be slow, but that's to be expected when you have one cook at each spot trying to prepare food for 2-8 people at a time depending on how busy it is. Dirty as in filthy dirty. The food kiosks and floors are covered with grease. Chairs and tables need to be replaced. The smell inside is of dirt. Why don't we Arkansans know how to keep the vibe of such a place as this intact? It has such potential. read more
