The cleaning itself was fine--but the front office (specifically the so-called "office manager") is an absolute disaster and completely ruined the experience. Because of the accident, my previous dentist mistakenly billed a cleaning the same night, which caused an insurance mix-up and left a temporary balance on my account. It was already being corrected. A simple, routine fix. Instead of handling it like a competent professional, the office manager chose hostility. Getting an itemized bill--basic, standard practice--was like pulling teeth. She talked over me, came in with attitude from the start, and then told me, "It's your bill, you need to pay it now," followed by threats of sending me to collections. This was after I clearly explained the situation, including that the original office had already reversed the charge. Zero empathy. Zero professionalism. Zero interest in resolving the issue. No acknowledgment of the accident. No willingness to listen. Just aggressive, dismissive behavior. Then it escalated. I had my insurance company initiate a three-way call to clear everything up. She immediately interrupted, started raising her voice, and then hung up mid-conversation saying, "We're done." That is unacceptable. That is unprofessional. That is not how any legitimate office operates. I've worked in the dental field--I understand insurance and billing. This was an easy fix. Instead, it was turned into unnecessary conflict. Bottom line: hostile staff, poor communication, and a complete inability to problem-solve. This office lost a family of three over something that should've taken minutes to resolve. There are far better, more competent dental offices out there. Go somewhere else--somewhere that actually knows how to treat patients like human beings.

Having said this, the hygienists and dentists seem skilled, it's just the office staff who are dishonest in what feels like a lack of information in order to get a sale. I went to Dr. Faubl for a tooth that was infected & causing pain & one that was already loose. Both teeth needed to be extracted which I had no problem with. Since one was a front tooth, I wanted to replace it for cosmetic reasons. The other was a back tooth which I decided I was not going to replace. For the front tooth, Dr. Faubl did a fixed bridge consisting of a false tooth attached to two new crowns fitting over the existing teeth on either side. The cost for this procedure was $3,999.99 before a discount from a dental saving plan purchased directly from Dr. Faubl. The cost after the discount plus the cost of the dental plan was $3756.99. Upon the recommendation from a good friend, I have since started going to another local long-time dentist. Out of curiosity, I asked this dentist the cost of the same procedure for the missing back tooth. To my amazement, my new dentist quoted a price of $2,870.00, which is more than 28% less than the full price from Dr. Faubl. Of additional concern is that Dr. Faubl said that I no longer need to take an antibiotic prior to dental work to help to prevent infection since I had a prior knee joint replacement. However, my new dentist insists that I do take an antibiotic prior to dental work & wrote a Rx for it. I know that Dr. Faubl will say that this is no longer recommended, but I rather be safe than sorry & wind up with a serious knee infection. (I was talking to a good friend about this, & he said his brother got a serious knee infection from not taking an antibiotic prior to dental work.) By the way, before going to Dr. Faubl I was going to another local dentist for many years but he sold his practice & retired. But I continued to go there for routine dental work & saw most or all of the dentists that bought the practice. The last dentist that I saw there quoted a price of $2,700.00 for the fixed bridge procedure, also after a dental discount plan. I did not have it done there because I did not really care for, or have confidence in any of the dentists that bought the practice. However, they did have me take an antibiotic before most dental work.

These mistakes happened more than once and created a lot of unnecessary stress. Most recently, I received a charge for an appointment I missed due to being in a car accident. I called the office immediately at the time of the accident, so getting a bill was frustrating especially when insurance covers at 100%. Sorting it out required a three way call with my insurance and the communication from the office during that call felt defensive rather than helpful. Even more concerning, my mother had a situation where she repeatedly reported severe pain and swelling but was reassured everything was "fine and good to go for a shiny new implant." Her condition ended up being far more serious than expected and required her to be in the hospital for several days due to a sever jaw infection. That experience really shook our confidence in the evaluations, treatment, and communication we received. I'm sharing this not to attack anyone, but because these patterns with billing, chart accuracy, and communication have become hard to ignore. I truly hope the office takes feedback like this seriously. Patients need to feel that their concerns are heard, their charts are handled carefully, and that any serious life threatening symptoms are treated with clear attention and care immediately not down the road.
