Only 6 months stays and you pay up front. Most sites are big enough for big rigs. All back in. They only have about 6 sites that are pull-thru. All sites have 50 amps and water. No laundry facilities in the campground, but they are planning to build one in the near future. All lakes are stocked with fish to go fishing. Bring your kayak or paddle boat to enjoy the peaceful settings. There is a long hiking trail that goes around the lakes. Very beautiful. They have a small basketball court and playground for kids to enjoy. Again, it's a pretty new campground so they are still building and working around the RV sites.

They…read morehave many very affordable sites, our has full hookups and it it cozy and spacious at the same time. The entire park is beautiful and even has a great looking public golf course. Easily reservable online, we were able to line it up same day and pop right into our pull thru spot as soon as we arrived. The is one street light in the campground and I wish it wasn't right next to site 26, but not enough to spoil a perfect evening. As our campfire dwindles in the late evening, we know the memories and appreciation we have will never fade. Thanks to Hamilton county for a truly wonderful park!

The staff didn't bother you but were very helpful if you needed something. Though alcohol is officially allowed, there were no loud parties or guests. This is predominantly an RV and trailer campground (with a lot of seasonals), we tented with some friends that had an RV (horse camping). A great place to go.

Reasonably priced, Very clean, very quiet and nicely landscaped. Met Kurt, son of the owner- what a super friendly guy. There is a nice walking path around the lake. All the RV spaces are gravel, spacious, wide for parking our tow, and with a portion of grass. It was easy to maneuver our 43 ft Class A Coach. We backed into spot #7, for two nights. Perfect !! This review is about the park area only not the Mystery Cave which is further down the road…read more Start with the unfortunate news, the walking bridge to the historic town of Forestville was closed. I did read about that in the state's info about the park ahead of time. I picked up a map at the office and was told there is a stone walking bridge at marker 8. More bad news on the trail. The field and location maps show markers on the trail but the numbers didn't correspond with the ground signs as many were missing. I just couldn't find the temporary bridge, or marker 8, but took a decent hike on the other trails. The park isn't as scenic as others but there is a variety of trails from easy to difficult, which is what I like. Some steep hills will test your true endurance. Driving out about another 1/2 mile I see more trails I missed, lo leads to marker 8.

Trail was well marked, wide and well groomed. It took us over the creek with stepping stones to keep our feet dry. There were some bigger hills so be prepared for a climb. Much of the hiking trail is shared with horses so be prepared to watch where you step. It was also covered with soft gravel which was hard to walk in at times. This is a huge area and we saw lot of people and activity. A bridge was out so we didn't get to see the old Forestville town as we would have to detour an extra 20 minutes. Very happy we stopped here. We enjoyed the hike very much.

Firewood is $5 for a good bundle and $5 for 20 lbs of ice. Reservations can be made online in advance with some tent sites only available for day-of reservations. Beautiful downtown Decorah is easy walking/biking distance on a section of the Trout Run Trail. If you haven't tried this campground, then it's time!
