Spent a weekend camping & hiking here and it's lovely! This state park occupies a large swath of…read morethe coastline of Lake Albert Lea, and is very convenient to the city of Albert Lea and 35-W. As such, this is a very easy park to get to. I camped in one of the two large drive-in campgrounds, both of which are very well-appointed with amenities. There are drinking water faucets distributed liberally throughout the campgrounds, and there are large restroom facilities at each, which are kept clean and have plenty of toilets, sinks, and showers. They even have little stations to plug in devices to charge them. Probably my biggest gripe with this park is that the restroom facilities are so brightly lit, right next to where the campsites are, that it strongly impacts the outdoorsy ambience. Many campers might not mind that & might even prefer it. But between that and the audible proximity to the Interstate, I prefer to feel a little more isolated. I saw lots of big trailers plugged into outlets, and there are also group camps, rentable cabins, and backpacking sites. I definitely want to return here to try one of those backpacking sites along the east side of the lake. Speaking of the lake, I did spot a number of fishing and canoeing options being taken advantage of. With all the beautiful lakefront area here, this is a really cool place for that kind of activity. I was surprised that the office wasn't staffed when i arrived mid-afternoon on a Saturday in June (2022) to check in; I wasn't able to get my hands on a physical map, and I had to put cash in an envelope to get some firewood. But other than that, it felt like a well-staffed park. All things considered, I will defintely return from the Twin Cities, and if it's more convenient to where you live, you can consider that a good thing! EDIT: I did indeed return two weeks later and try out a packpacking site. Loved it! It's way more remote over there. Really beautiful and lots of cool, well-posted trails. There was a big stash of firewood they'd prepared for free; do they do that for everyone? It's great! You can get to all the backpacking sites via canoe. Bumping my rating from 4 stars to 5!

They say they deliver firewood right to your campsite except when we asked, they did not have any firewood but we could grab some from last years scraps. The bathrooms have not been updated ever. There is a trickle of water in the showers, not enough to rinse shampoo out. The seasonal people all mow their own lots so there is a lawn mower constantly running. There are golf carts driving around in circles all day and night. There was a dirt bike at night racing without lights down the road. Saturday night was Karaoke night with speakers blasting until 11 PM, in addition to people playing very loud music at their campsites. Everyone is drunk during all waking hours. They said there was wifi but there is not. If you want a campground that is absolute chaos, this is the place for you.

Stayed September 11 & 12 2021 Beautiful RV Park. Loved how…read moreit was setup. Only con pull thru site pads are setup for 2 RV's hookups are in middle of each concrete pad. Each RV faces a different way. Small strips of grass between the next sites with 2 picnic tables & fire ring on each end. All roads are paved & park is very well manicured. The Mystic Lake casino sits above the RV park. We didn't go up to look @ it. Mystic Lake Casino had their last summer outdoor concert on 9/11. Kelsea Bellerinai opened for Jonas Brothers. Concert was across entrance road to Casino from RV park. It started @ 8 & ended @ 11pm. We could hear the whole concert.

We may have been rowdy at times, but Bob and Charmayne were always the best, even though they have retired now. The fresh donuts, diner style eating, and the small town style cabins were always the best. If you are expecting a 5 star Hilton Style resort, you shouldn't be going to these real Minnesota style campsites, but if you enjoy the outdoors, a relaxing escape from every day life, and a friendly place to enjoy... I 100% recommend this place. I will be bringing my family here now that my kids are old enough to enjoy it as well.

The bridge is all wood, with new supports after being moved around a lot. It was a nice time walking down it. I didn't expect a thrill ride, but I got what I was expecting! It is, historically speaking, pretty neat that they kept it. Great theme for the whole town. The park itself is huge and expansive, tons of space, some amazing trees, a great river, and when we were there, a very nice display of flags for Memorial Day. A genuinely huge park space, and a huge fun-looking castle-themed playground for kids, too.

It was completed in November 1869 and sort of looks like a barn. It is 116 feet long and the roadway is 15 feet wide. It is NOT open to vehicular traffic, having been moved about 100 yards from its original location to keep it available for viewing for posterity. You can walk or bicycle across the bridge and see it from both sides. The bridge is the centerpiece of the park and there are restaurants and such nearby. Only 6 months stays and you pay up front. Most sites are big enough for big rigs. All back in. They only have about 6 sites that are pull-thru. All sites have 50 amps and water. No laundry facilities in the campground, but they are planning to build one in the near future. All lakes are stocked with fish to go fishing. Bring your kayak or paddle boat to enjoy the peaceful settings. There is a long hiking trail that goes around the lakes. Very beautiful. They have a small basketball court and playground for kids to enjoy. Again, it's a pretty new campground so they are still building and working around the RV sites.
