The heat index is over 100 and they keep insisting you can only bring in two bottles of water per person. No medical staff to be seen and we were having issues with the heat. There were a couple of staff members going out of their way to try and help but they seem more concerned about sales of drinks than peoples health today. I have only been here a couple of times but the couple of times I came here I was very satisfied with the whole thing. I bought tickets ahead of time before the concert which was good because the lines were really long to get tickets. I had to pay an admission fee but that wasn't terrible, then I went in with my friends and we just sat on the ground to watch the concert. I would definitely wait to get a drink because at the beginning of the concert the lines are ridiculous. I don't remember exactly how long I waited to go get something, but by the time I got there the lines were pretty short. I really like coming here, if you haven't been here definitely come! We went there for the recent Blues on the Fox Festival. They featured artists like Jimmy Vaughan, Tab Benoit and Los Lonely Boys just to name a few. Only $20 to get in the park. Had to park in the Metra station and trek to the venue, but that's to be expected with an event this large. Venue was set up well with food and other vendors near the entrance. Walk around them to get to the seating area. We found our parcel of grass and parked our chairs. Bring lawn chairs and an umbrella, we needed both. Plenty of clean Porta-Pottys and hand wash stations which I consider a plus. For folks on the lawn there is a giant screen behind the sound and light booth. Makes it nice since your a good 50+ yards from the stage itself. You do have good sight lines from the grass. Only problem with this event was the planning. At around 8pm most of the food was gone and so was the beer. Giant mistake! How do you run out of beer? They did have bud light, which I don't consider beer at all, so for all intents and purposes they were out. I think they ran out of bottled water, too. I'd definitely go back and I hope the planning committees and vendors learn from the mistakes made during this event. Cheers! read more

Sad place. Those in Aurora are unaware of how great places and placemaking can be. They think this little lot of grass is something fantastic. Sad how low the expectations of those in the area can be. For truly nice parks, drive north up the Fox River to Batavia, Geneva, or St. Charles. For even better river experiences drive east to Naperville or in to Chicago for Lake Michigan's shoreline. Aurora sucks and sadly people don't know what they are without. read more

The Frampton guitar circus was great! Here is my issue, After spending $300 for VIP seating when we arrived at 6pm there were not spots available! A member of staff allowed us to sit in the front for the BB King performance and asked if everything was OK. At that time it was. As the stage was being set for the Frampton show, we were asked by an man that came from backstage why we were sitting in that section. He stated that it was for his friends and that we need to leave. My husband asked the man where we were to sit because the so called VIP section we oversold. The man stated that he did not care to which my husband replied "then we need a refund of our money!". The man replied "well give him his money back, I don't care"!!!" Then the man had security escort us from the stage area and out of the pavillion!!! We went to the box office and spoke with a man who did not give us a name. The man asked that we give him 2 mins to fix the problem. We did... As the Frampton part of the night was starting (we missed the first 10 mins BTW) the man came back and escorted us back to an area where before people stated was "taken" and seated us. For the money was spent for tickets I thought the seating would have been more thought out and not a fee for all! Whom ever the man was that had the front row for his friend please express to him my sincere discuss for his way of treating us as paying guest !! Aurora is my hometown and I am not sure that I will return to see anything at the Riveredge park again. If we do it will not ever be in the pavillion as people on the lawn are much nicer . I think my biggest issue of the entire evening is that the staff person that allowed us to sit in front did not say anything thing to the man of defend our position in any way. I hope that future shows will be more accommodating for people that pay to sit in the pavillion. Security was not necessary to remove us, all he should have done was say I'm sorry for you're inconvenience but this area is for my friends. Then he should have had staff make sure there was a place for us and not make an embarrassing for us by having us escorted out only to be brought back in to sit in the same area... My daughter and I saw the Bridgit Mendler/R5 show on 8/18/2013, It was a great way to close out the summer break. Thanks to the artists and some inventive/helpful parents around us we were able to have a good time. HOWEVER....some major changes in security and communication need to take place at Riveredge Park. I fear that sometime in the future they may have the "wrong" crowd and wind up with significant injuries or violence. First off.....I've been to MANY concerts in my lifetime. I've seen some "crazy" stuff at various shows. If they run security at the "Disney" Bridgit Mendler/R5 shows (at river edge) like they do at some of the more adult concerts they are asking for trouble. It is only a matter of time. We arrived early with VIP passes that indicated we had special seating and FIRST entry into the park. The gates opened at 4pm but we arrived early around 2:50pm just in case... The lines were pretty long by the time we approached the park. I arrived at the dinky little ticket booths and they knew NOTHING about the package we paid $100.00 extra for. I tried to explain the VIP privileges and the ticket girl/security wanted me to go to the end of the line and wait until everyone had entered the building.....then they would distribute our VIP passes....when they could find them. I almost lost my mind right then and there. I kept my cool for my daughter's sake and continued to plead my case. This only made me look like an enormous jerk to the people waiting in line to pick up their Will Call tickets behind me. People were yelling and screaming at me to "give it up" or "listen to what she is telling you to do." I was furious. I almost lost my mind right then and there...thankfully I wasn't the only one. There were other parents too. After arguing with four different people including someone that reportedly was a supervisor I finally pulled up the artists website on my smartphone. After they reviewed the VIP ticket privileges they relented and let me in immediately. That was only the first part of the mess. There were two artists performing. They both had pretty big fan bases. R5, the first act has a fan base that is made up of rabid pre-teens known as the "R5 family." The R5 family had separate VIP packages from the Bridget Mendler fans. Arguing over seating started early because the R5 fans got in first for VIP soundcheck. They were already seated in the prime spots. The first three to four rows were completely taken. Mendler's fans had also paid for tickets promising "VIP" seating in the first three rows. The R5 "family" refused to move and they were in such mass that the security seemingly gave up.....they GAVE UP on trying to enforce any sort of rule. The artists reps came up with a harebrained solution that included the R5 kids moving out of the front row and to different seats when R5 was done playing......This was ALL moot point by the time the gates were open and the rest of the world got to enter the venue. Pre-teen girls CRAMMED themselves in the first row like they were sardines in a box. There were literally four rows of girls in an area reserved for VIPS that would have been for 2 rows at the most. The problem also was that there were benches and people already seated in the front row. It was absolutely ridiculous. I spoke with a security guard about my concerns and she shrugged her shoulders and told me, "I know this is dangerous. They won't listen to us." The bottom line is that this venue needs to do away with General Admission seating for events like this. Each seat should be designated by a row and a number. Many of us already seated near the front had children between the ages of 5-10. We all worked hard to make sure that our kids had a foothold and a safe place to stand during the r5 show. The band was very good and overall the kids were very well behaved......but under the wrong circumstances this could have been a complete disaster. R5 finished their set and even MORE kids started pouring into the front rows.....kids that were arriving 2 hours late for the show were forcing their way into the rows and standing on the seats. Nobody stopped them. I've never been to a concert where you were allowed to stand on seats.. It was at that time the sudden announcement came that the Bridgit Mendler VIP fans could leave the seating area and watch the show from the "pit" in front of the stage. After that the evening was great. We had a wonderful time and felt much safer. I would suggest to the City the following: Start numbering/assigning the seats in the "general admission area" Do a better job of maintaining the rows in front of the stage. The people running the venue need to coordinate their efforts with the artists VIP programs and be aware of what fans have been promised. I know that the venues can't always deliver. Thats reality...but this venue had NO idea of what was going on. Did we have a great time? yes Will we go again? no read more

Went to "Downtown Alive" last night to see American English. Great, brand new facitlity, bring your own chairs or blankets. $5 admission, great beer and food selection. Prices vary based on the entertainer. Beautiful venue right on the Fox River. Easy (and free) parking across the street in the Metra lot. Afterwards, check out Two Brothers Roundhouse down the street. We had a great evening. read more

Went with another couple to see some 70's bands. Loved the setting of the venue. Arrived early enough to be able to have a prime location in front of the stage. You are able to bring lawn chairs so it was like seeing a concert in your back yard. Drinks and food prices are what you would expect at a normal venue. read more

I attended the Jennifer Nettles concert this weekend. She had Brandy Clark and the Indigo Girls as opening acts. The concerts were great and I thought Jennifer Nettles did the best of the three. The Venue was nice. They had clean porta-potties and offered a real bathroom in a building. The parking was reasonable ranging in price from $5-$15 depending on which lot you found. We parked at a $10 lot and it was close. They allowed unopened water to be brought in which is nice. Their food and beverage prices were very reasonable and they had a good variety offered. The whole thing seemed well organized and not over-crowded, yet there were tons of people there. I live about an hour away, but I will definitely go there again. read more

Lady A concert-Worst experience ever. Way oversold. Couldn't even get close to seeing the stage. Probably had several thousand people that should not have been allowed through the gate. If they can't abide by the terms in their brochure, they should never have sold the ticket. Security minimal at best -Highest interest in taking the top from the single bottle of unopened water allowed and removal of lawn chair from bag. No search of binocular cases attached to my belt. No search of my wife's purse. No lights over porta potties. When the sun went down, anything can happen in there. If you are going to have name acts, then provide the agreed upon facilities for the fans that come. Complaints made the night of the concert were taken in earnest by the head of the onsite staff. Full refund to my credit card has been made. They may have a very nice venue, but I never got close enough to see it. read more

Yesterday, 8-7-14, I went to the Lady Antebellum concert with my husband and 2 other couples. As much as the music was GREAT and the weather was perfect, the venue was horrible. Clearly the concert was OVER SOLD and the park, as well as employees, were not prepared!! If they ever do it again, they should re-think what gates they open, staffing and placement of chairs. It was a mess!! We were told via email, that there were no tables allowed, and we saw tables, no saving spaces and people saved spaces. Once you found a space, you couldn't leave, because it was impossible to get out. You couldn't get food, because the lines were too long. If it weren't for the music, good company and beautiful weather, it would have been a really bad experience. Nice try RiverEdge, but you need to improve greatly!! read more

Saw Lady Antebellum tonight here and was very disappointed. First of all, Parking was a nightmare. Second, It was WAY oversold. This is a nice park, but there were far too many people for such a small venue. We waited to get into the venue for about a half hour, then ended up sitting on pavement because there were too many trees in the way on the grassy area and we still couldn't see. Waited 54 minutes in a food line for the worst burger I have ever eaten in my life, while countless staff were walking around aimlessly. No paths or walkways; everyone was just shoving to get through. Will not return to this venue for another big headliner. read more

Went here tonight Aug. 7th to see Lady Antebellum they were great but the set up for them was awful. River Edge Park is not at all equipped to hold such a big venue. Not only did they run out of parking they set up one of the entrance right next to the lines for the concession stands. We were packed in like cattle and to think I paid $55 to sit in a chair that I brought. It was a great idea to have shuttle bus's but they were no where to be seen when the concert was over. And then nobody knew where they were suppose to stop to pick up the people. When we ask the staff they said they were not in control of that. And when asking the police outside they said they were not in control of that. This was my second time there but my first was not for such a big venue. My husband and I attended 3 events this past summer. The atmosphere was relaxed with a nice mix of families and adults. It is a clean, safe venue with the Fox River on one side. We loved the convenience of parking across the street and reasonably priced food choices. After the Bluesfest we invited friends to the next 2 concerts. I can't wait to see who is coming for 2015. read more

Went to see Jennifer Nettles, Indigo Girls and Brandy Clark all together. It was a great show. We had VIP tickets which were amazing. The view was completely unobstructed, food was good, we loved it. Went to see Lady Antebellum last night of which I heard the concert was sold out...also heard they oversold. This venue is not capable of hosting big name acts at all. It was so crowded I felt it was a hazard and we couldn't even get food...the lines were up to an hour long with vendors running out of food. So we had popcorn for dinner as that was the only vendor that had a short line. Also took ages to get a drink and if you bought two glasses of wine they opened both mini bottles so you spilled half of each before you got back to your seat. You cannot bring any food or drinks into this venue. I would suggest that if the people running this venue want to create a Ravinia like place they need to get a better plan as this just doesn't work. Don't bother going to a sold out concert you will have a HORRIBLE experience! Get it together the decision makers in Aurora managing this place! read more

Groupon buyers BEWARE!! We went to see Peter Frampton's Guitar Circus. The actual artists were wonderful! B.B. King was awesome, and we were so glad to hear him and his band. Loved the actual concert... Firstly, we read that parking was free. It was not. We had to pay $5 to double park in the lot across the street. Ok, if that was all, it wouldn't be bad. BUT, The venue on the other hand, what a mess! We had Groupons for the show, and apparently so did half the audience. We were segregated to a specific gate, after we first tried to enter a "regular" gate were told we had to go to Gate 3 and have a ticket printed out just to enter. We were only 2 of thousands in that line. Finally, after about an hour of waiting, the RiverEdge personnel realized that most of us were not going to get into the park on time and they started letting people enter who simply showed the Groupon receipt - the way it should have been in the first place. We eventually found lawn seats and settled in for the show. Then, we wanted to get beer. WELL, I waited in 30 minute lines for an overpriced beer. It was good, but the line was ridiculously long - we had 2 rounds and waited for an hour of the concert in line! The astounding part of all this is that there is a segregated beverage station for those who paid to sit in chairs by the stage. I was chased away from the beverage station because I didn't have premium seating. The station had little, to no waiting time. RIVEREDGE, TAKE A LESSON FROM RAVINIA! 1) DON'T TALK UP FREE PARKING WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY! 2) DON'T SEGREGATE CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF THE SEATING PREFERENCE. 3) STOP PROMISING MORE THAN YOU CAN DELIVER! 4) OPEN UP MORE MORE BEVERAGE STATIONS TO THE ENTIRE CROWD!! read more

July 21st the venue cancelled a kesha show and after 20 minutes on the phone with customer service with Lucille and then her supervisor Ashley was told to contact director Kevin Berlis. After wasting almost 30 minutes of my life hiding behind (oh sorry his words "enforcing") the business' Rivers Edge policy that, and i quote, "No matter what i do or say he isnt going to help me (get a refund)". He and all of rivers edge took everyones money from Keshas show with a rain or shine policy and offers CREDIT towards a future show (such great ones like jason derulo or kiss) even though none of their shows are even close to the genre. They also have no idea if she will be back. And to top it off she now has a new show scheduled in chicago. Not asking for pain, time, beer, food, travel or even parking back, (roughly $150) just the cost of the two tickets purchased for the venue. Was told that to get into the show i had to agree to their "roughly translated" we will decide if the performer gets paid, the venue is keeping the money EVEN if the venue closes it due to weather on a RAIN OR SHINE ticket. All their policies are built to protect them and the only way to see a performer you want to see inside is to agree to them. Please do not visist this far off venue that has obviously forgotten the words "customer service". read more

1st time at Riveredge Park. Earth Wind and Fire. Sold Out......because my hubby deleted the link with the tickets attached? I spent part of the day trying to find them and then print them....YOU CANNOT PRINT THEM FROM THE PARAMOUNT WEBSITE. They should put something about this on their website.....unless I missed it.....I had to call and find this out.....because of all this fiasco we didn't get to the venue until it was too late to find ANY PARKING. I have extensive Health Issues....I was just about ready to say FORGET IT.....let's go home.....when I had my husband drop me off....a long way from the Park...I had to walk....then he had to park in the Hollywood Casino West Parking Lot and walk with chairs. Then AFTER the concert.....we both had to walk back to the casino parking lot. Along the Fox River. On the DARK bike path. Why can't Aurora put a foot bridge across the river like Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles? Terrible Parking for a Sold Out Concert. I'm not parking in some remote area that I am not familiar with and I'm pretty familiar with Aurora Area. The show was FANTASTIC......the Bugs....UGH...The food...not anymore expensive and some cases less expensive than other Concert Venues. We arrived at a few minutes after 6:00 only to find a line extending a block away from the venue. This was our first time at this venue. It's clear that they were not prepared for a crowd this size. We entered the gates at 6:20 and best seat we could find was on a walkway with no view of the stage. Food and beverage lines were extremely long. Numerous staff members standing around talking. No one directing people to keep moving or to not set up in the walkways. Real safety issues. Hopefully they will work out the kinks. read more

As an avid music lover, this place is one of the WORST venues around. If you want to hear the music or see the band playing, forget it. People literally RUN through the park to sit and the sit all on top of each other -disgusting. Horrible sound system, quite over crowded, nasty people, expensive eat and drinks and just overall a horrible experience. DONT do it -truly unless you can afford to WASTE your money. read more

Get you facts together before writing, Lucy C. since we were mislead from your review!!!! The general admission seats at the Sail Rock Concert on 8/10/13 was in front of the stage or wherever you wanted to sit, including the grass section. You can see practically anywhere you were sitting. The beer, pop was very reasonable compared to other venues in the Chicagoland area. I am sold on going back. We paid $30 a ticket to hear just hits from the following: Christopher Cross, Firefall, Orleans, Gary Wright, John Ford Coley, Player, Robbie Dupree. It was so relaxing and the crowd of people were very courteous. As Rex L. states bring you own chair and have a great time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LOVELY FACILITY! read more

Everything about this place is aces -- they are SO organized and handle large crowds with ease, parking is close, seating is well organized so everyone's not on top of each other, they don't oversell the shows and pack people in, etc. If an artist you like is coming here, it's a GREAT experience. First time here and saw Earth Wind & Fire. The show was sold out (7500) and they sounded amazing! The venue is pretty good- very clean and organized. We parked in the overflow Metra lot for a mere $2.36 and walked about 5 minutes to the line along Broadway. Gates open at 6 and we got in line about 5:40. The line was about a block long by then but once the gates opened it went pretty fast. They had enough staff to walk the line before 6pm and check ID's and issue alcohol wristbands while you waited to get in=smart. You can bring unopened water bottles, your bag chairs (they check them), blankets. They check your purses. I expected all that and there was not a problem. Got about "3rd row" lawn seat--plenty of speakers mounted up high--sound was decent all night and the big screen showed us all that was going on up on stage. They had "crowd gates" lining the sidewalks and grass areas to help control the flow of people in and out of getting to and from their chairs. Maybe it was just who we saw, but it was a "mature" crowd and everyone around us was super nice and chill-shouldn't complain when there's perfect weather and EWF is on stage, people! Food and drink was OK and prices were not bad. Advice--get in, set up your stuff and get to the lines quick. Stock up in the beginning and you won't need to go back. Everyone exited quietly and respectfully. It was a great night and we will be back! read more

My daughter and I also attended the Lady Antebellum show last night. We were so excited to go but experienced the same thing that others did who reviewed the event. Brought a chair, sat on the back of a "hill", couldn't see the band, no shuttles. The list goes on and on. Such a disappointment. They are not equipped to handle big name acts. Went to Blues on the Fox - first time for us at this new venue. RiverEdge has good potential but needs LOTS of work. First, parking is not good. Lots fill up, they put up a sign saying "lot full" and then leave you to your own devices to find another lot. How about a traffic guy directing cars to another available lot? Novel idea. The venue is long and narrow with only one video screen. The majority of the crowd cannot see the stage or the single video screen. Really need to add more screens. The stage itself and the sound are excellent. The food/beverage concessions ran out of food and most of the beer offerings early in the evening. I'm serious - they ran out of food. The stands that still had food had unbelievably long lines. Just ridiculous. $7 for a 20oz craft beer is not that bad but ticket prices seem high. Boston is coming in August at $35 a ticket. They obviously did not open this venue to service the residents of Aurora which is primarily a blue collar town. Blues on the Fox used to book great bands and they charged a $3 entry fee. This show was $20 at the door, $10 in advance. I'll probably go back but I was hoping for a better experience. read more

Riveredge is to concert venues what Kane County Cougars Elfstrom Stadium is to baseball. It's okay. It'll satisfy many concert appetites, but it's minor leagues compared to first rate facilities elsewhere, and comes up real short for those who like to see top name acts at first class venues. Riverside will give you smaller names, or names from the past with little to no recognition of what they once were. I'm not a fan of bring your own lawn chair venues as your main focus for seating. I think it's cheap looking and too pass the buck, rather than providing sufficient seating. I don't wanna lug my seat with me. I hate walking around a minefield of blankets and lawn chairs. And here, it's the majority of its seating. What little room there is upfront for seating or standing is inadequate at best. And the layout for that lawn chair seating is weird. Too sandwiched between the river and Broadway/Rt. 25, making the seating more a very narrow strip as opposed to the wider setting of most concert venues. It's an "I" setup as opposed to a more functional "V." That means for higher capacity shows, you go further backward, not out to the left or right where you could still be relatively closer to the stage. And given the location of the sound tower with its big screen video attachment, that leaves a pathetically little seating within the actual view of the stage. Bathrooms and concession lines are adequate for a 3,000 or so capacity show, but for bigger shows, they'd suck. Riveredge's biggest asset is its capacity-about 8,000. With that, it's able to draw some pretty good names. Also very constraining is the curfew, which really limits performance times for artists. They cut off a little earlier than other venues. Riveredge is minor leagues compared to the facilities that draw bigger names on summer tours. Given the choice, I'd prefer seeing the same acts at better venues. But it's local, it's easy to get to, and can be relatively inexpensive. But, it can be overpriced, relative to viewing angle. And actual view of stage itself, and not having to watch the video screen. It's more like having a summer festival set up all year round, as opposed to a first rate concert facility. It's okay. But more a venue for the concert challenged who lost their maps out of Aurora to see better names at better venues. Some people brag about how you run into lots of familiar faces there. That's not a selling point for me. Frankly, at a concert, the last thing I wanna do is run into too many people to talk to when I'm there to see a show. The shows there are short enough without having to waste a few songs in talking to someone. And since they've finally added reserved seating, they wiped away previous seating that was no extra charge than lawn seating, albeit first come-first serve. That seating now is cost prohibitive, and frankly, ridiculously greedily priced by a management getting a little full of themselves. There's no way you should pay $200 in order to have an actual reserved seat to see an artist on their "I'm not dead yet", tours. Some of the best entertainment comes from watching a bunch of folks running into each other and missing a lot of he show by talking about how great this place is. It sort of reminds me of when the casinos came to Aurora. Everybody had hard ons about what a great city this this was now. Until in time, it was exposed or how little special that venue really was. I've already reached hat peak with Riveredge. Being in nearby Aurora doesn't make it any more special to me either. read more

Don't understand what the complaints are about. First time we've been here and the experience was very good. Parked in the lot directly across the street ... police were directing traffic in, plenty of room and open slots. Yes, we waited in line, for ~20 minutes, but that's because we arrived 20 mins before the gates opened. Once opened the lines moved quickly and we were amazed at how close we got to the stage. This was after thousands of people had "setup" on the lawn or other places that other reviewers said they "couldn't see". It's all general admission, so I guess if you don't walk toward the stage and find a better location you only have yourself to blame. When the concert was over I was concerned about the traffic exodus ... the police had the main road blocked to thru traffic with two lanes exiting the lot where we were located so there was no stopping. We were out and on our way home in minutes and this was from the lot directly across the street from the park. Food was good since it was mostly restaurant vendors not the weird catered stuff. When you have 5,000 fans at a concert there are going to be lines for food and beverages. The lines were long but not bad considering the crowd size, and they moved relatively quickly. I was in a longer line and waited no more than 15 minutes, so if that's too long for you then I guess you should pack a picnic basket! Concert (Boston) was great ... could have been a little louder but I'm guessing there could be some "decibel level" laws since the venue is close to some residential areas.
