I come here quite frequently and enjoy sitting on the second story of the boathouse. I also enjoy sitting on the docks, waking on the paved waking paths, and walking on the unpaved trails to the dog park with my pup! I've been a regular here for ages! There are public bathrooms at the boathouse and note that there are often events (like weddings) at the actual structure. This happens all nights of the year (or so it seems and by that I mean random weeknights is when I often stumble upon a wedding). It used to be PACKED during COVID. You will almost always find parking in the main lot but occasionally if there are kids sport games on the fields, and lots of kids on the playground, and boats being launched (boats plus trailers take up two spots)... well then you will maybe need to park in the overflow lot. I'm not sure if both of those lots are ever simultaneously full but there is a little parking garage a tiny way up the road by the Glastonbury library (if needed). This beautiful park in Glastonbury is located right on the Connecticut River. It's not far from the town center and has many amenities. There's a dog park, boat ramp, picnic pavilion, athletic fields, trail, playground to name a few. There were plenty of parking. There are multiple access points. We walked through a trail which was located off Main Street and past the dog park. Then we walked towards the main entrance which was where the picnic pavilion was located. We also explored the playground and boat ramp area. This was a large and beautifully maintained park. read more

We were super impressed after our first visit to this beautiful park complex. Baseball fields, playgrounds, a boathouse, all kinds of walking and jogging paths, and lots of great waterfront views at the Connecticut River. Today's Autumn foliage really set a gorgeous tone as we strolled the paths that snaked throughout the park property, walked past the colorful kayak racks, watched the kids having a blast on the playgrounds and the bigger kids shooting hoops, watched a guy training his dog, walked by a very cool and impressive stone fountain, and enjoyed the gorgeous waterfront scenery along the river. Now that we know this gem exists, we'll make plans to return and catch the Apple Harvest and Music Festival one year. read more

Riverfront Park is my favorite places to come for so many reasons. This is a beautiful park that has it all. It has a great playground for children to play on, pathways to walk on, clean facilities, a basketball court, tennis court, baseball field and my favorite part- a dock to watch the sunset. There have always been open parking spaces, even when there are events inside of the boathouse (you may be lucky and catch a wedding). I recommend you come here with a picnic dinner to watch the sunset. During the warmer months there are often mosquitos so be sure to bring bug spray. read more

One of my favorite Greater Hartford area playgrounds is at Glastonbury's Riverfront Park. There is an older kid playscape area and a bigger kid playscape area. The equipment is colorful, varied and newer than the equipment at most playgrounds. The play areas have great options for spinning, sliding, climbing, swinging and balancing. One highlight is a tall rope spider web for climbing. Another draw is that the play areas are fenced, so it's easier to keep track of activities. In addition to the play areas, there's a nearby fountain, stretches of little used grass fields for games and running, and a basketball court. The location of the playground is a big draw. As the park name suggests, the park is within a stone's long throw of the CT River. It's great to walk so close to the river. I suspect there are other CT playgrounds this close to the CT River, but I don't know where they are. Five Stars for Riverfront Park. read more

Spring is finally here and the weather was so nice this morning. I was on a "Visit a New Park" challenge for work and did a quick search on Yelp to find this awesome spot! I had never been before and it was such a great idea/day to go. Clean and spacious. A great parking lot. All checks there! I walked towards the Connecticut River and just took it all in. They have some pretty sweet signs that you can read along the walk path too. Lots of picnic tables, a playground for the kids and even a boat house. This is one sweet park. There really is something for everyone here. I went to Seed for a bagel after my visit to Riverfront Park, although now in hindsight I should have went to Seed first and enjoyed my bagel here. So happy that a work challenge lead me to this park today. I actually drove past it a few times before today and never thought to stop. I certainly know better now. Busy spring park day, playgrounds full and walkways full. This year the water in the riverfront was overflowing the walkable breach-way so was a little limiting for a walk. Seems like the space is becoming more commercial than a private place to stroll or relax. read more

It's absolutely beautiful here! I stopped in just very quickly while I was seeking peace from a trying day and boy did it deliver!! I will be coming back to enjoy further. Great options for walking. Great dock to sit on even places with rocking chairs and a great bathroom. Lots of fields for team sports and a basketball court. There is also a very nice sized playground. Stopped by for the Apple Harvest Music Festival for the first time and had a great time. The park host rides for kids and adults, food trucks, music and plenty of vendors. We had a great time walking through the vendor section checking out crafts, food and community booths. Everyone was very friendly. The food trucks had many different options. Mostly carnival type food but that was fine. Finally they had a section where one could go to and have a beer or wine. We had a great time and will most likely go again next year. Great way to spend an afternoon. The Riverfront Park was an excellent venue for this event. read more

"R-E-L-A-X"....Lazy last Sunday, we decided to grab some coffee at a Starbucks nearby and head over to watch the sunset..... with the river, the boats, the bridge and the sun setting in the background...the view is just gorgeous!! gorgeous !! So peaceful .. yet close by. The boathouse riverfront park is a beautiful, well maintained recreational area... serene views and flat trails...with 2 separate kids playgrounds now the fear of you toddler being knocked over by a big kid is out of question... I remember how this is to be my biggest concern.The park is not overly crowded. There is lots of green space for picnics, dog-walking or just chilling out...cover picnic area, public bathrooms .... a launch ramp for public boats, and a boat house as well. read more

Solid park for something so close to everything. Not a place for a nature hikes or getting away, but perfect for flat jogging paths, taking the kids outside for easy walking/strollers, taking the dog for a walk (fenced dog park in one part), or anyone that wants easy access to see some well maintained urban styld park with river frontage, fountain, etc. Playscapes, basketball, etc. Easy loops through the park and into down town for runners/walkers that want a longer route, or to just mix things up. If I was more local, this would be a frequent starting point for after work or weekend jogs. Looking forward to when they finish the last few sidewalks by the boathouse. Really hoping they'll open up the banks a little, maybe with an elevated platform/pier like Northwest Park in Manchester (which does not compare, but only serves as example of a nice elevated pier for viewing a nearby, but significantly lower elevation body of water). Also hoping they demo the last remnant of evidence for the boathouse portion's previous use... the pipe rack and pier. Seems like one ugly liability.. read more

This area is a central spot for Glastonbury. Whether you're here for the boat slip, playground, dog park, large sheltered picnic table areas, large green fields, or running paths, there is likely a reason that you've been here. The playground has a younger, lower-to-the-ground area as well as an older kid area, though I wouldn't say it was good for 10+ years old. The area can definitely be packed. There are lots of picnic tables near by - though not really enough to accommodate all the families near the playground. You'll need to go to the two large areas under some shelter. The running path can definitely get muddy, even a few days after a rain storm. The fields are kept up really well. There are often kids' organized sports on the grounds. (Not sure if one has to schedule the space.) I am really thankful for this park. read more

Riverfront park is beautiful. There's lots of space for kids to just run and play and plenty of playground equipment to keep them busy. There's a beautiful fountain in the middle of the park that adds a nice ambiance with a large field for kids to play soccer or a great game of tag. My only complaint is the amount of shade of the toddler play ground. If you go in the summer, be prepared for the slides and equipment to be on fire. There's very little shade for the little ones to escape to if they're playing in that area. However, other parts of the park offer lots of shade and grassy areas to run and play. Also, for my fellow moms- the bathrooms on site are what you'd expect. Go at home. read more

While I love me some trails, I have been on the hunt for a flat place to run. Ding ding ding found it today! I'm dying just thinking that I only came here today. This is a beautiful park that's very well maintained with nice flat paths. The whole outside loop is about 0.7 miles around. It's also next to the boathouse and the CT river where you can rent kayaks!!! Trust and believe next summer I'll be hitting that up :) Bonus: there's a fenced in dog park here and it's even divided into an area for small and large dogs. read more

Parks can say a lot about a town. This Glastonbury paradise is a perfect example. What were they thinking when they took a prime piece of waterfront property and turned it into a gorgeous and diverse center of recreation for people and dogs? Who does such a thing? What kind of people create a place with perfect lawns, delightful walking trails, a magnificent boat house, sports fields, two playgrounds, a boat launch, picnic areas by a pleasing fountain, and a beautifully maintained dog park? What genius decided that there should be ample parking set in a spot that will not detract from the overall beauty? And who figured people might want a path to the park from tbe center of town passing a ffield of gorgeous wildflowers might be enjoyed by many? I enjoy this park. A lot. Whether here for a summer concert on the lawn, a walk and morning play with the dog, or simply to enjoy its beauty on a nice day, this is a magnifixent place to visit And while it laxks the desireable ones, Pokemon hunting with my son has become a great excuse to spend more time here. The only thing I have yet to do is enjoy a function in the Boathouse. But if I am not invited to do so soon, I may just have to plan one myself! Yes, that is how much I love this park. read more

Riverfront Park is a great place to go for a walk. The park offers plenty of parking and picnic areas. There are several lovely walking paths and a dog park. The paths are made of crushed gravel so it's easy on the knees. I always see families, dogs and even people just working out or spending time outside. I feel like it's a safe area to walk. The river and boathouse add an extra touch to the experience. I would really like to bring my kayak and launch it in the river. However, the town to Glastonbury charges $20 a day for residents to use the boat launch. This is a bit steep. read more

I went there for Apple Harvest over the weekend. It was a smaller version of The BIG E. It was really cute and fun for families. They had a lil pub set up to have some adult beverages. It was the perfect fall day to take in all the carnival style food smells. There were a handful or food trucks and local vendors selling items from grilled cheese to gyros....OPA!!!! The best part was taking the shuttle bus from the local high school. We did not have to worry about circling for parking. read more

I found out about the Riverfront Park when I planned my besties bridal shower at the Glastonbury Boat House. The Boat House and park are both gorgeous. I attended the Riverfront's farmer's market/concert series which was very well done. We were able to find parking quickly and the area is pretty large. I think it would be cool if they rented kayaks or paddle boards. read more

This park would includes a baseball field, short walking trails, and a dog park. It is a decently sized park that would be nice to visit with your dog, children, friends, or by yourself. In the spring and summer, there are some nice wildflowers that you can take pictures of if you are into photography(or instagram). read more

I moved away from Glastonbury over a year ago, and when I left, there was still a great deal of construction going on at this park. Yesterday, however, I got the opportunity to check out the (mostly) complete product and wow! It's really a one of a kind park that has something to attract almost anyone! I'm looking forward to seeing the final finishes on the boathouse/waterfront area. Some things to get you excited about stopping here: -Dog park: huge wood chip dog park with separate small and large dog area, generally friendly owners and dogs, bags and benches available as well -Clean, on-site restrooms: the new boathouse has public restrooms (Clean!!!) available on the side closer to the playground -Two new, separate playgrounds that can accommodate kids of varying ages: two playgrounds that are well-cared for -Ample parking: two separate parking areas (one near the boathouse and the other near the dog park/baseball field) that can accommodate many cars easily -Sports fields (baseball, soccer, basketball courts, open fields): for a pick up game or league use -Views of the river from the boathouse area: really spectacular river views...great photo op! -Kayaks and other boats that you can use to take out on the river: the new boathouse has some boats available for rental to be taken out on the river. -Boat launch: if you've got your own boat, you can launch it into the river here -Picnic tables/benches: a few areas with picnic tables for a nice lunch -Running path/loop: there's a main running path/loop that is less than a mile and covers the outer areas of the park -Large beautiful boathouse: the backbone of this new addition to the park is the huge boathouse, which overlooks the river and is available for rent (weddings, corporate events, etc). We have been here several times for different events and really love it! One summer we came for date night to a Swing dance concert in the outdoor theatre - listening, munching, & dancing as the sun set below the river on the horizon was stunning! We were also here for a kids health/sports event that was great fun, and ran the Riverfront Scramble races here. Can't beat it! read more

Loved my trip here- I visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon and it could not have been a more perfect day. The water was fairly calm, parking was easy and close to where you drop in. There are restrooms on the premises which is a major win for anyone that kayaks regularly that's not something you always have the privilege of having access to. As my cousin and I paddled to the back area off the river we felt like we were in our own private pond- it was so secluded and beautiful! We saw heron and an eagle and heard nothing but nature around us. We paddled back out and up the river a little ways towards the bridge and luckily it wasn't too rough so we were able to lazily float around and chat for a while. I will definitely be making plans to return to check out the park a little more. There was a huge beautiful fountain, a sports field and plenty of areas to have a picnic with a great view. read more

If you are a beginning runner, this park is ACES. It's 3/4 of a mile (or just a hair over 1k) if you follow the path all the way around the outer perimeter of the park. It's completely flat, which is wonderful because what beginning runner wants to deal with hills?! Anyway, I trained for my first 5k here, so it will always have a special place in my heart and I wanted to recommend it to anyone else trying to run for the first time. In the summer there's usually a baseball game going pretty late (until 9PMish), so the park stays lit up even late into the evening. read more

We come from Worcester ma to meet with our old foster who lives down here. This is a huge nice fenced in space. Nothing like this at home. All the dogs and people here are nice. I appreciate the town's commitment to keeping this a nice space as well as the people who pick up their dogs' poop. Plastic bags are abound here so don't worry if you forget. read more

Dog park is not easy to find. Signs are hidden. In dog park, many ditches (watch your step). Not very well maintained. Left on its own. Watch out for dead birds on ground. Would not recommend. On the plus side, good location near major stores, free parking, and two separate areas (for big and for small dogs). read more
