Avoid this vendor at all costs if you are considering renting a pontoon boat for the day. We reserved a 22' pontoon boat approximately two months in advance for eight of us to enjoy a day on the water. The marina told me at the time that their boats will safely transport 10 people and have 100hp motors on them. I was pleased with the price and the deal (initially) on the phone. We arrived on March 29th, 2018 with 10 people (I decided to take my two grandkids with the original eight passengers). The pontoon boat they gave us was heavily damaged (see pics), only had a 50hp Honda motor on it (nowhere near enough horsepower to push a 22' pontoon boat carrying 10 people with coolers and gear), had no VHF radio (clear violation of US Coast Guard regulations), had no working 12 volt power to at least recharge a cell phone with a cigarette lighter adapter, had no anchor or working swim ladder, and upon firing up of the engine exhibited an incredibly loud whine from the prop bearing (to which the mechanic told me was normal noise for a Honda outboard). I've been captaining boats for 25+ years and I always take responsibility for passengers onboard my boats or any boat I rent. I complained about the condition of the boat and asked if we be assigned to a working vessel. The marina's reply was "no, but you are more than willing to call other marinas and try to rent their boat." I was shocked at Riverhaven's complete disregard for their customers' safety and their "couldn't care less" attitude. My passengers decided that we'd give the boat a try after driving 1.5 hours to Homosassa to try and have a relaxing day. We launched the boat and didn't get more than a quarter mile away before I noticed that the fuel gauge dropped from full to empty. I immediately turned the pontoon boat around and headed back to the marina figuring they just forgot to fill up the gas tank. Their response was "that gas gauge hasn't worked in years...but there is enough gas in it to get you where you want to go." I was fuming at this point, but tried to make the best of the day. The boat was extremely slow trying to push 10 people (max speed of 9 knots) with a 50hp motor but it lasted all day. Upon returning the boat there is a spot on the Homosassa River where spectators eat lunch at several locations. I was more than happy to display the Riverhaven logo as I slowly maneuvered the boat through the no wake zone with the engine whining so loudly that no one in their right mind could enjoy their lunch. I wanted everyone to know which marina NOT to rent from. We will NEVER rent from this marina again and we've informed the US Coast Guard of the numerous violations that the marina overlooks. read more

Let me begin by saying that I love the experience being at RiverHaven marina. The employees, the management service department are all exceptional Diana, Debbie, Wayne, Doug, Tim are all good people. I have always been treated with the upmost professionism. When I needed a high and dry storage, they had a spot for me, and welcomed me with open arms. When I had mechanical problems with my motor, they took charge and fixed the issue before I could call to check the status. If yoiu need boat storage, they are the ones to handle your needs. read more

We purchased a used Pathfinder boat in January of this year. After having terrible service at another marina on the water we decided to give Riverhaven a try. Their service and dedication couldn't be better. The boat has been serviced about four times now for various issues as we become accustomed to it. Each and every issue was fixed in a prompt and timely manner at a reasonable cost. The other marina has lost our business completely after giving them many opportunities to fix the same problem over and over again charging us a bunch of money only to send the boat home with the same problem. The boat launch and docking service is good. Unfortunately the restrooms are unkept with no hand soap. This has been for 3 days now. When informing the desk clerk, she acted like it was a inconvenience and not her job/problem. I would think during a pandemic with COVID19 there would be hand soap available to all or at least hand sanitizer. Thankfully we have our own. They're not doing their job to stop the spread. read more

Dont ever rent a pontoon boat from them. The seats were broken including the drivers seat. There is only one anchor with a rope tied to another rope was not even tied to the boat. There are no cushions the gages dont work. I thought that being from Riverhaven community they would have nice boats. Boy was I wrong. Beware do not go there. They dont even tell you they just take your money and then they bring it to you. I reserved the boat for fathers day & could not believe they would even give their customers something like that. What a shame for being in business for all these years that you would do that. I will tell everyone not to go to you. You suck...Very ashamed & disappointed. read more

I have for years preferred to pay a small fee to use this to launch my boat. I will never ever set foot back here again after pulling to and seeing signs that said $20 ramp fee. It's obvious why they were empty When it's free across the river. read more

Avoid this vendor. I rented a pontoon boat for a day scalloping trip. The boat began over heating shortly after leaving the dock. The engine alarm would sound and then die. I called the office, and followed instructions to clear any grass. We lifted the engine and it was clear of grass. A 1 hour trip out, took over 2 hours because we had to stop frequently to allow the engine to cool. We had to cut our trip very short to allow time to return. We complained to the technician and he confirmed there was a spun hub. Management accused us of trying to get a discount. The office staff was unfriendly and not compassionate. The boat was also covered in black mold, had broken lights, and appeared to have been crashed at least once. This place is horrible and irresponsible. read more

THIS BUSINESS IS A TOTAL DISGRACE!! Our family reserved a pontoon boat for a day trip. We did NOT receive what was promised. The boat was dirty, had NO safety equipment, no radio, and the motor was not working properly. The boat constantly over-heated and only operated at a crawl, when it did run. It was frightening, especially for the children. When we called the management to let them know what was happening, they started we could get towed but it would take all day and "your day will be over". This is UNACCEPTABLE for any reputable company. When we returned the boat the management refused to acknowledge the issues and treated us very rudely. Do not rent a boat from these people. Glad we didn't listen to the reviews and checked out Riverhaven Marina for ourselves. We have our boat in dry storage there. We're newer to the area, and the Tow operators are great and answer questions regarding the River. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Store is clean and bright! read more

I have been using this marina for years because of lack of options. They are some of the least friendly and least helpful people I've encountered in the marina business. Presumably it's because they can be because there are almost no other options. It's really disappointing in such a small town as homosassa that relies heavily on southern comfort and the associated tourism. read more

I would not recommend this marina to my worst enemy. I bought to used engines from a man in Homosassa and he was having them put his new engines on so I asked if they could do the swap for me. BIG MISTAKE. I took my boat to them and they had it ready a week later. I knew it would be 6 or 7 hundred dollars and it was $708. I asked if they would drain my oil tanks and put the oil that the Mercury opti max take and that was in the price. I pic the boat up and did not look over to close as I just came back from a long fishing trip and was tired ( my mistake ) I got the boat home and found it missing a bolt and a nut so I called Pete. Pete needed some pictures so I sent them to him but he did not know what he was looking at so he got the man who worked on the boat and he knew what I needed. I received the parts a week later. I had to clean the boat to remove the grease they left on the boat ( some service manager Pete is ) and I found more bolts loose, wires not connected and cables not tight. I thought I had everything done and ready for fishing tournament and was going over everything a second time and checking fluids only to find the oil that they charged $139.10 ( I am not complaining about the price of oil) for four gallons that they did not put in my boat. Riverhaven Marina are scam artists. They give you a boat with a faulty transmission and deny any culpability. We reserved a pontoon boat for the full day that was for 10 people. We received the boat which esthetically was very dirty and not maintained well. We were heading out for a scalloping trip. Very shortly after loading up and heading down to the bay our boat began overheating and alarming. We would have to kick the boat into neutral to allow the boat engine to cool. We raised the engine to check for obstructions which there weren't any. The continued ever 20 meters or so unless we kept the boat in 2nd gear. Which means hundreds of pontoons passed us because we couldn't kick it out of 2nd gear. Our 1 hour trip took us 2 hours. We had to cut our time short to accommodate the return trip. This was an unsafe boat and they did not care. We had 4 children on board and it was scary to imagine being stuck out at sea. We had a slow return trip because every few meters we had to shut the engine off to cool down. The office staff claims we were trying to scam a discount even though 20 mins in we called and complained they didn't care and did nothing. DON'T RENT A BOAT HERE. read more

This business put our lives at risk by renting us an unsafe boat, and didn't seem to be concerned with our safety in any way. They rented us this boat without even bothering to maintain it, or ensure that is safe for use. A 45 minute boat ride turned into 2+ hours, because it wouldn't go above idle speed. We couldn't even pass a boat being towed by sea tow! When we returned the boat, told them about the issues we were having the dock staff acknowledged there was an issue with the boat (a spun hub). We went inside, told them that, and asked for them to make it right. We were met with accusations from the manager that people were "always coming in there looking for discounts". The manager didn't even bother to go look at the boat before blaming us and denying there was any issue with the boat. He never left the office, and didn't care about anyone's safety. I'm sure they are putting someone back on that boat right now. Keep yourself alive, and go to any other Marina and rent a boat there. read more

We had a reservation for a 20 foot pontoon boat. Upon making this reservation we specifically asked if life jackets, fuel, and a dive flag was included or if we needed to pay additional for these necessary items. We were assured that EVERYTHING was included and we were all good to go. When we arrive, the pontoon was NOT a 20 footer--it was a 16 foot with a 40 engine. Not entirely happy, but trying to make the best of the trip we had planned for scalloping season. WHAT. A. NIGHTMARE. The boat did no more than idling speed and we were ran past by numerous other boats so bad we thought it may flip us over. That boat had NO business being in an ocean. We spend 2+ hours making our slow way to the ocean and anchor, only to find there is no dive flag. We had friends scalloping and buddied up with them but of course, still received a ticket for our vessel not having a dive flag. FWC even said that majority of rented boats should include them and most marinas do with NO hesitation. Not Riverhaven. Finally make it back that afternoon after another 2+ hour journey and when the staff is helping dock the boat asked about our trip, we begin talking. He informs us that this 16 foot boat is NOT supposed to go to the ocean, that it is rented for river and canal trips. WONDERFUL. Upon mentioning this to the rude woman inside she informs us that that isn't true. Called her own staff member a liar after he explained why the 16 foot pontoon shouldn't go to the ocean and showed us another boat and the differences. OBVIOUSLY we didn't even book this size because we knew better. We specifically wanted a 20 footer but when we arrived and they realized we only had 3 people boarding, they stuck us with a smaller boat so they could make more money renting a larger one to a larger group. Experienced a problem with my boat while on the river I drifted into the marina asked for help they were very attentive with me. Pete promptly walked out with me pinpointed the problem had a mechanic come to the boat dock and help me fix the problem and get me on my way. the charge was very minimal I was very satisfied with my experience there and they were very attentive in accommodating. Please go somewhere else. This was our 4th and last scalloping season we used this marina. Ever year it has gotten a little worse. This year we had engine problems within an hour and it wreaked out trip. We were the ones who came up with a plan to try and salvage out long trip here. Didn't need our business! We walked in and were not even acknowledged by staff. We had to initiate conversation. Had no knowledge about our type of boat ( 24 ft catamaran hull Splendor). Kept saying "we don't store catamarans". Finally, we were able to speak to a gentleman who was apparently in charge, but he was busy working on a large boat with a hose problem and did not wish to stop and speak to us about storing our boat. In the end (5 min later) he determined that he could not accommodate our boat (we have the wrong kind of boat) and could not recommend anyone in the area that could. Two minutes up the road at the old "Magic manatee", now Homassasa Springs marina- we were greeted immediately by a customer accounts rep who was smiling and helpful. One of the owners, who was clearly busy, stopped what he was doing to talk with us. He can accommodate our boat with a modified rack which he is happy to do for us since we would be paying 1 year in advance. Do yourselves a favor and stop in...it is approximately 0.25 miles BEFORE you get to Riverhaven and they are interested in new business! read more
