Their kindness and hospitality truly made the experience even more special. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, and you can tell they wanted guests to feel comfortable and pampered. Heated toilet seats? Yep! A huge spa-like shower with an oversized rain shower head? Absolutely. The beds were so comfortable that getting out of them every morning was a challenge. The private boat ramp and direct access to the Homosassa River were complete game changers. We visited during the Fourth of July weekend and opening week of scalloping season, so being able to walk out the front door, hop on our boat from the private dock, and head sstraight onto the water was incredibly convenient. After experiencing that, I honestly can't imagine staying anywhere else. As an added bonus, we had front-row seats to an incredible Fourth of July fireworks show right from our front porch. It was the perfect ending to each day. Thank you for creating such an unforgettable vacation. We can't wait to come back!

It has a very 'old Florida' vibe with direct access to the river with lots of amenities to use on it. However there were a few items that were advertised but not available but it did not really bother us. Check in was quick and efficient. We were given our own spot. NOTE: use the supplied cone to hold your spot when you leave or else someone will take your spot. The Monkey bar was pretty popular and parking is scarce when it gets crowded. We had an upstairs room with a great view of the river. 2 rooms with lots of space and full size appliances. TVs in both rooms, satellite and WIFI was great! Fastest WIFI I have seen in a secluded place like this. Shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. The shower had the weird faucet 'switch' to get the shower going. Seems to be something they like in these parts. Just pull down on the end of the faucet to close it and start the shower. The resort is in walking distance to many bars and restaurants. We went to the Monkey bar every night just to chill in the open by the water. There is a water taxi to take you over to Crumps if you want. We didn't use it but it was available. We did use the pontoon boats that were available to guests for a fee. $100 for 4 hours was not bad at all. However we got rained on and were only out 2 so they guy working at the desk let us have it for free! Great customer care here! Overall our stay was great. If you have a boat this place is perfect as a launch point to explore the river. A very relaxing get away very close to both nature and nightlife. We will be back.

I can say honestly, they build a beautiful dock. But unless you have the patience of a saint plus…read moresome, you should find someone else. They give great lip service, but little action. They told us in the beginning we'd need to be patient because of permits. We were also told the dock would probably take less than a week. They didn't mention waiting for them/or the drilling barge to show. It started in Dec, gave them the money for the permits and made several follow up calls after six months time 'checking' (because they never called us). Didn't want to be unreasonable or a pain so our calls were few, we waited three more months. Finally in Nov we called and they said "well yes your permits are here and Rodney will come out next Monday". We later found out they'd had the permits since July....not that they told us. No one showed on Monday, no call, nothing. Little did we know this was the beginning of no shows and excuses. We heard 'oh got busy, sorry'... 'I only had one guy show up today'...'the entire crew is sick so I told them not to show'...'they didn't finish at the other place yesterday so they'll be there tomorrow'...'the foreman didn't show' etc. etc. Apparently it's nice being the only game in town. During this time one of the employees mentioned they had 2 years worth of work.....not sure if that included customers waiting time. When they did show it was usually between 9-10, they'd break promptly at 11 for lunch (1 hour) come back and pack up to leave by 3! And don't even get me started on where the drilling barge is each day instead of here!!! The dock which we were told would only take a week ended up finished around the second week of February. And I believe only then because I finally got fed up and told Rodney he needed to start paying my expensive marina fees where I had to keep my boat docked in the mean time. I think they should've offered compensation for the constant delays and BS we put up with. Lesson learned, sometimes you need to be that 'squeaky wheel'. But they do build a really nice dock.

If you're arriving after dark, be cautious--the entrance sign is not lit. I was driving a 40-foot motorhome towing a 30-foot trailer and mistakenly took the first turn instead of the second. The signage isn't illuminated, so headlights are helpful to confirm you're in the right place. I highly recommend arriving before dark. The campground is very quiet and feels like stepping back into "old Florida." It sits right on the river, where we saw otters playing and fish jumping--literally jumping two feet out of the water. Very cool. We stayed in Site 20, a pull-in site with excellent river views and located right next to the boat ramp. There's a small store on-site that sells firewood, fire rings at the sites, and it's perfect for a relaxing evening. The permanent residents were extremely friendly and helpful. Kayaks are available to rent for river trips (we didn't do that this time). They don't sell bait, but there's a great bait and tackle shop less than a quarter mile across the street with wonderful people--perfect for fishing off the dock. No problems at all, the dogs loved it, and my wife really enjoyed how relaxing it was. We'd happily stay again.

A day out on the water with this outfitter has always been super fun regardless of the number of scallops caught. My group has gone out with a few different captains, all of which have been knowledgeable & safe. The booking process is pretty easy. I always book online - you can even sign the waiver through their website so there is no paperwork to take care of when you arrive at the dock. The boats are comfortable for the short ride out to the scalloping site and we always bring along a well stocked cooler of drinks and snacks to enjoy during our trip. All the snorkel equipment needed to dive for scallops is included in the tour. In general, the equipment is nice and well maintained. The conditions have been a little different every year I have gone - sometimes we catch a lot, sometimes a little. The captain has always dived with us to help search for scallops and moves to new locations as necessary. Cleaning the scallops after returning to the docks has always been easy - sometimes there is a group of high school students who will clean them for you for a fee. If they aren't around, there is a station to clean them yourself, and the captain has always been around to help / walk us through the best process. We will be back again!

Basically has a lot of options to explore the area. You can take an 4 hour tour or two hour tour on kayak. If you really explore in one day use the motor boat is better. The rivers are wide and not much of cover. Sunny day will have big sun on you body, sun cream protection is recommended. The kayak trail have 4 different rout. We choose the homosassa spring head route. They need to improve on facilities. Such as changes clothes area when wet, better rest room facilities instead of potable station, better educate the people who rent the kayak and give details tours recommendations and direction. One thing for sure is they are nice to meet with us. We went to the spring head trail. And we did not know we need to get under the small bridge then further down. Nice to have proximity map. But better instruction to get there is equally importance. We also miss the tunnel river. We found out this point of interest when we get back docking.
