There are picnic tables, a covered pavillion, disc golf course, public restrooms, with developed parking and its dog friendly. As well, river access for kayaking, fishing and water activities. We took an afternoon drive out to the park and it is definitely worth the effort and time. Legend has it, that Daniel Boone as a boy and his family first used the cave in one manner or another around 1751. There are numerous developed trails with a trailhead at the top. The walk down to the cave is pretty serious, its built wooden steps but its a serious climb down and even more so up. This is the only drawback to visiting the cave. If you are not prepared to climb back up, I didn't count them but its a couple hundred steps easily. Its an impressive build, but it is a serious climb coming back up. 4 Stars a cool historical park and worth a visit 01166

You're treated to views of interesting rock formations, one in particular that may be considered "NSFW" lol! At the top there are views of a rock quarry below, picnic tables for the kids, and an overlook point where you can catch views of downtown Winston and Pilot Mountain as well, if you get the right sky for it. The main trail is a mile long and circles through the trees and around the lake on the other side. Its a very nice walk. You will pass families enjoying the picnic areas and grills, lots of families on the trails with their little ones on bikes, and fishing. Everyone you pass is normally pretty friendly with hellos and encouraging words as you pass each other. There is also a large trail that branches off from this trail. I see a lot of cross country runner teams and they have a lot of matches there. But you can still enjoy the trails during matches. There is also a Baseball Field and a large field for activities such as soccer. Times vary depending on the time of year but I highly recommend this park.

Most people are respectful and enjoy the green area and also clean up after themselves if they have dogs, however there are a few in the minority that aren't as community minded. Saw two other large dogs with owners who could barely control them. Unfortunate because there are a lot of children and people playing near the water area and the playground area. Highly recommend one of my favorite parks of the city. They also have concerts and events like movies here.

All in the shadow of the Bell Tower. The park dates back to 1855 when Salisbury native Maxwell Chambers donated the two blocks to the First Presbyterian Church. It's in a wooded area so it's a well shaded. There's lots for kids to do and while most of the stuff I will say is geared towards kids five and up there are things for younger kids to do and I do appreciate the handicap swings. Kids younger than three have a very tiny area to play compared to everything else. They're definitely going to be drawn to the main play area, which is bigger and you might have bigger kids running around so that creates a little bit of an unsafe situation when you have a mix of uncoordinated children, and bigger rowdy kids. Even if your kids are bigger doesn't mean that they'll be able to use everything at the park. Some of the things are definitely geared towards balance and coordination so if your kids are not well coordinated or have good balance or can catch themselves if they fall I would stay close by. The other thing I love about this park is that we can bring our bikes and take a ride down to the water and let the kids play by the sanded area. The trails are beautiful and you'll definitely get some good distance in if you're going to go to any of the stops along the trail.

Camping hours locks you in after closing with private access should you need to exit. Ranger is a friendly bloke that was so helpful. Peaceful, full hookups and onsite black tank disposal. Note, it's a public park - so you're not going to have control over whom your neighbours are, but we got lucky and the possible problem guests were leaving as we arrived (yay!).

We spent a solid 2-3 hrs there and had a great time. It's also very inexpensive!! Some things that I will say is that the bathrooms are not very clean and don't even work but it's an old place, so that's to be expected and we're not there to use the restroom, we're there to play! Bring cash for extra things, like carousel, barnyard, animal exhibits, etc...sometimes their card reader doesn't work and they can only accept cash. There's even a cute place to shop where you purchase tickets for everything with toys and snacks inside! All in all, we had a great time! Keep in mind this place is old, but it definitely still has charm, and stands out against the other parks around. The animal exhibits, including the barnyard petting activity is a hit or miss, because this place is not a zoo. The animals have plenty of room to hide and/or roam to get space, which is a great thing!!! But some people might be upset after paying and not really being able to see the animals. The park has a concrete seating area arranged as an amphitheater with its back to Innes Street. It was created through the generosity of Julian and Blanche Robertson. The park features a fountain that replicates the figure Rebecca which stood in the Square in downtown Salisbury in the early 1900's. It is open from 8:00am until sunset.
