I visited the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park last night and it was a sight to see! Beautiful lights and displays. Some areas had holiday music playing. It was a drive thru experience but you were able to stop at the gift shop half way thru. They had various items from local businesses for sale. I would definitely visit again next year! read more

We *try* to visit Tanglewoof bark park every Sunday with our puppy and his sisters (adopted by other families). It's always a good crowd, weather permitting. It's fun seeing familiar faces - both human and pup. I like how it's separated into two spaces for both large and small dogs. We've only have wonderful experiences at this dog park :) read more

The Christmas light display at Tanglewood is known as one of the best in the area, and it's easy to see why!! Depending on traffic, you could be viewing lights for 30 minutes or 2 hours, and there is a sign out front that lets you know the wait times. Pay rate is by car, and the whole show is set to music on a particular radio station, even synced to the lights at times!! There is a gift shop and refreshment stand near the end of the driving tour, and plants of rest stops and restrooms on the way through the various lighted areas. read more

One of my absolute favorite places in Forsyth County. It's a delightfully safe place to take a walk or go for a run. They have BMX trails and horses are also welcome. Tucked behind The Manor House is a charming garden, including a children's garden. Bring your pups, too, and take them to Tanglewoof park. Excellent location for family, prom, or engagement photos. During the summer they have a great pool for the family. You can get an annual pass or pay $2 per visit. read more

If you want to big giant open area for your dogs to run free and have a great time in, this may be the place except for the two trees, there isn't much for them to run into. There are multiple poop bags dispensers placed evenly all around the interior of the fence line as well as benches for you to sit on. But none of the benches have any kind of covering or shade. It is a nice double-gated concrete entryway with a separate one for both the big and small dog parks. You can easily walk around the interior of the fence line and you park right outside the dog park. read more

This park is big and beautiful, and offers everything from golf to horseback riding, and BMX trails. I have enjoyed the Christmas lights in years past, but for the most part I go to the park for walking. They have a pool and splash area as well, and pavilions for rent, and so much more. Even when the park is busier, I haven't had any trouble finding parking. The park is well maintained and the bathrooms are clean. It's an easy choice for, and for a lot of other activities as well. read more

This park is truly amazing. I am a lifeguard at the Aquatic Center (Pool) and i have been treated very well as both a patron and an employee in past and present years. Maintenance is taken very seriously around the park as a whole. (most) People are very kind, polite, and respectful. I would like to say about other negative reviews to the pool, issues with guards nodding off or not paying attention have been handled accordingly. The "Grad Party" group that gave us a 1-Star review told a false story about us being entitled. that group was a complete hassle and would not listen to me or our team. We, as lifeguards, devote our time and energy to keeping our patrons safe while being respectful and accountable. Come stop by! read more

What I love so much about Tanglewood is that every time you go, you can have a completely different and new experience! Go and enjoy nature. They have multiple walking trails, RV park, and an expansive botanical garden with even more scenic beautiful trails to get your zen on. When you're done, you can find a bench and take in the majesty that is the magnificent magnolia trees! Or, you can reserve a tee time and go golfing if that's your thing. I'm not one to hit a ball and go retrieve it, but you do you! You can also reserve a spot for horse riding! They have routes planned for pretty much all ages and skill levels. My wife took my 8 year old for her birthday, and they both had a great time! Neither had any prior experience. There are two playgrounds, picnic areas, and an old school coal burning train to marvel at and go in! Of course, there's also the pools and splash park, including a wading pool as well! There are several pools, and this area is massive! Plenty of room even on a crowded day! Then of course, there's the holiday lights show, which was nice but honestly not worth the terribly long wait to get in. No matter which season, Tanglewood is well worth the $2 to park and spend the day! read more

The Tanglewood Festival of Lights has some awesome displays! The reason this review is low is because of the wait. On a Saturday, coming around 9pm, we waited about 2 hours before we ever got to the official entrance. Wish there was a better way to have this festival traffic controlled. There were plenty of portable bathrooms along the route because they needed them due to the long wait. Maybe paying in advance for certain time slots would alleviate the traffic. The light display was very cool, they worked at having those displays put up and maintained and not a bad price for $20 per car paying with cash or $23 per car paying with a card. It was too late to want to stop at the gift shop, which is about half way through the light display, I saw s'mores and a food truck available but was way too tired from waiting to get in. It took about 30 minutes to drive through. I was growing increasingly frustrated that the people behind me would not turn their lights off. I would only ever do this again if my kids really wanted to come again AND we came extremely early, I mean as soon as the sun went down, with a cooler full of snacks. read more

Tanglewood Park is a great county owned park with TONS of activities and amenities for you and your family to enjoy. The park does charge for entry and depending upon what you're doing there are additional fees per activity. The things to do: golf, par 3 golf, dog park, swimming, tennis, horseback riding and lessons, walking trails and biking, campgrounds, picnic shelters (open use and rentals), 3 playground areas for kids, and the Winter Christmas lights event. There are also rotating activities it seems next to the dog park, have seen softgolf even at night. My family and I have personally done the dogpark, golfing, playgrounds, swimming, picnic shelters, walking, biking, and Christmas light display. The park has some bathroom facilities, not sure if it's enough to cover the park fully though....its a massive park. The park has a very hilly terrain, so bike riders will want to be comfortable biking a lot of moderate elevation changes. This is definitely a place you and your family should explore. If you are a local, look into the annual vehicle pass if you're going to visit often. It's typically $2 per car per entry or sn annual pass is $25. read more

Christmas light display season is here. Well worth whatever wait you endure to see this display. It's a must for us every year. They are fully masked at the gate and there is no other contact - bring $15 exact change and you will have no other contact. Shop is closed this year so no gifts can be purchased. I suggest rolling in by 5:30 PM on a weekday - gets you to the gate around 6PM and another hour to drive thru at about 5-7 mph. Lots of the lights are updated and bright - didn't notice anything new but the displays look good. Tune into 99.5 for the Xmas music and don't forget to roll your window down for the bells. Even the wait line is lit so make sure to enjoy before you pay to get in. The later you wait into December the longer it will take you to get in. Now is the time. read more

We went here for the Christmas lights festival so it was at night. This was such a fanatic experience for my family and I. I've never experienced something like this. First my nephew told us it will take about three hours, I said what he did yup it may take up to the hours. Mostly waiting in line to see the light show and boy was he right. When we arrived we seem so much cars everywhere with so many police so I felt safe with so many officers around. You drive around in your car there where two lanes at first then it merged into one lane you pay $15 a car/ truck and then you proceed along your way. WOW WOW WOW who would have ever thought of this. So many lights displayed around the park. So many neat things to look at. We had our windows down so it was freezing like 30° outside. We also stopped to look at the souvenir store so I got some cute things to take back home. read more

I give Tanglewood Park 4 stars, but based solely on the park and not the events it hosts! I've come to Tanglewood for years for leisurely hanging out in this beautiful enormous park! The beauty of it is unmistakable, and the upgrades over the decades is visible! Their hosting of the recent NC Wine Festival is a joke however! Their unmistakable lack of planning to park the masses in a timely manner, and then the lack of a system in place to allow as much sampling of the different vineyards on hand will ultimately keep me and others from returning! Paying for the VIP early entrance was a waste as 11:20am was the earliest we were all able to get through the slow lines. The individual vineyards were talking at length to each person tasting their product that it made your wait about 15 minutes per vineyard! For an event that's nearing two decades in length, the lack of systems in place is quite astounding! read more

Can we get some separation of church and state? Stop allowing whatever church they are to set up stands on the entrance of walking path ALL DAY to promote themselves. We come to a park to enjoy nature, clear our heads, and enjoy a neutral space, not be sold a specific religious ideology at a county owned facility. Not only that, there is limited parking and these people take up sometimes six of our parking spaces just to stand on the path entrance all day making people feel uncomfortable who pass them. read more

We LOVE Tanglewood Park! There is so much to do there, between the different parks, golfing, tennis, horses, and swimming- you can't get bored here! I'm .2 miles away from the entrance n the line isn't even budging. There's also another line next to us that is cutting in even tho our line started long b4 theirs. 01-02-18 Time to add on...It took approx an hour to get in with two lanes going in and another opposing lane also going in. Make sure use a restroom b4 arriving. Luckily, after the entrance there was a porta potty! Ppl were jumping outta their cars to use it while the car line drove ever so slowly. Poor things! At 1st the beginning of the show was a teaser which wasn't much but far apart displays then after about a mile or two was the real entrance where u pay. I forgot where I learned to listen to a local radio station of Christmas music while driving thru it but we did n it made it even more magical. I think maybe it was from the Tanglewood Festival of Lights website? If only I weren't driving, I'd hv gotten better photos. I did stop a few times to try to focus but. It was my 1st ever driving thru a large park with Christmas displays so i was a lil kid that night. Ohhhh ahhhhhh oooooOo I don't usually enjoy craft shops but I needed more gifts n I was surprised that the gift shop had some spot-on finds. I'm always on a hunt for the unusual . Glad I could further support Tanglewood Park. I'd hv given it five stars if our line which started first had gotten in before the one that started later. Still, it was a good night of surprise n wonder, three+ hours of it. I don't know why after exiting I came across a side street of wonderfully decorated homes and yards...magically bringing me thru time. Sorry, didn't catch the street name! I love Tanglewood Park. It's so incredibly green and peaceful. When I'm in town it's my favorite place go for for a run. There is a shaded, paved, rolling hills path that's just under two miles. It goes past the horse barn, up a hill, and past the campground. It's quiet and peaceful. There are also multi-use trails for mountain biking, trail running, and horseback riding. I've run the trails before but not extensively due to time constraints. I'd love to spend some time back there since they appear to be well-maintained. They have signature on the paved trail which is a plus, and water and a bathroom at the visitor center. read more

Tanglewood Park festival of lights has always been a yearly favorite for myself and my family. We enjoyed seeing the lights we enjoyed the lights over the water and off of the golf course. This light show is very entertaining as it has different shapes of trains Santa Claus calls horses horses and carriages swans you name it they have it! My toddler enjoyed the light show. Be sure to get there early if you are going to go on the weekend there could be a very long wait to get into the park. read more

We watched a couple Of people exercising their horses, walked through a lovely botanical garden and admired a pretty nifty looking pool with slides. The pool at Tanglewood was great! I can't believe I've never been before. It was SUPER packed on a Sunday afternoon. They even closed the door on a line of people. I like that you can bring your own food. The changing rooms are nice as well. The only thing I didn't care for was having to pay for parking and having to pay to use the pool. They have a lazy river and 2 very large splash areas for kids. The pool was a bit too crowded for my liking, people bumping into you here and there, but it wouldn't keep me from going back. A family of deer even grazed right outside the pool area. It was very scenic. read more

We were here today for the festival of lights, Today is one of their discount days which is only $5 for a car compared to $15 on regular days. We were here at 6pm sharp which was when the attraction was open for the day , it was already super crowded with hundreds of cars lined up. So obviously the cars were moving dead slow. Visited the Festival of Lights last night for the first time. The park opens at 6:00 and we arrived at 6:30. We had an hour wait before entering the park and then another 45 minute wait before entering the gates to pay. While I found the lights to be pretty, I think orchestrating a light show to music would have provided better entertainment. I'm glad we stopped by, but do not think I would visit again. read more

I ended up going to Tanglewood twice this weekend. Once, I was just driving through to see what the park had to offer, and then I decided to come back for the Festival of Lights. It's a beautiful park and it's probably the biggest one I've ever seen. They have everything from cabins to a church and a huge bed and breakfast! They even have a golf course. So, saying Tanglewood has something for everyone is an understatement. It wasn't too crowded when we went and I even saw a lot of deer on the property! Short Version: Tanglewood Park...what a great resource for Forsyth County/Winston-Salem and surrounding area! Great park, well maintained, diverse with events and activities to do. I am a fan! The Deets: I've enjoyed trips to Tanglewood Park since I was a kid growing up in the area. It is a very large park maintained by Forsyth County, located in the village of Clemmons just outside the city of Winston-Salem, NC. Tanglewood has been a huge draw for so many years because of the large variety of things to do. The swimming pool, the golf courses (one that was host to senior PGA championship games in years past), the hiking and biking trails, paddle boating, the train for the kids to look at and play on, the campground, tennis courts, even stables for horseback riding as well as many other things to enjoy. I remember my 10 year high school reunion was in the clubhouse here. The Manor House on the park premises has been known as a very nice place for lodging (former country house of the Reynolds family). There are great special events hosted here as well such as the Fourth of July fireworks and the annual Festival of Lights during the holiday season. I recently attended the FoL and loved it, definitely worth it for $15/car (higher rates for larger commercial vehicles). Get in line early as there is usually a LONG wait for this one. Whatever you come for at Tanglewood, you will find a very well maintained park and a great place to enjoy your day. read more

I visited the park yesterday for the first time. I was so looking forward to getting in a nice mile or two walk along the paths. I went with my sister and her spouse. We have been staying together for the last 5 months and are doing our absolute best to social distance. We drive to various hikes and walks in the area when we can. We were quite taken aback at Tanglewood. We always wear our masks when we walk in public, at the very least have it around our necks to pull up as folks pass our way. Always. However NOT ONE person on the trails (joggers bikers or casual walkers,) had a mask on. Not one of the 60 people we encountered. And worst yet, many folks walked two and three abreast not allowing for social distancing. Also I noticed lots of suburban women clustered together for their daily walks together, unmasked and not social distancing with each other. Bad form. At several points because of the thoughtless joggers and walkers who came too close not allowing room on the trail, we were forced to step off the trail in the mud and grass, to allow ourselves a safe distance. There are signs up about social distancing, apparently folks here can't read or refuse to acknowledge the realities of the pandemic. Needless to say we will not be back. There are many safer and nicer walks in the area. read more

This is a great park with multiple playgrounds for the kids, picnic areas, a pool, tennis courts, horses, golf courses, mountain bike trails, and walking trails. The park is kept very clean and it is an excellent place to get away for an afternoon picnic. The playground on the left has black matting down and is better if it is wet and also has more shade for those hot days. There is a charge of $2 if you do not buy the yearly pass. read more

It was great but I thought there would be more light. However the last time I was here was when I was a child.

I'm not even sure where to start. There's so much to do here! For a $2 admission fee into the park, you get access to so many things on site. There are trails to run and bike around with plenty of trees overhead to provide shade. We've gone horseback riding here on a guided tour with friends in the past where you learned how to trot and steer your horse, each with their own little stories and personalities, through the woods. If you're into golf, they have 2 fun courses to choose from. I've also come here a few times to photograph folks over the years as it offers several kinds of backdrops for different styled shoots. The horse stables give a really wholesome country feel and occasionally a horse will pop in to be a part of the shoot. The bodies of water also offer a serene and zen vibe. Lastly, for our furfamilies, definitely bring your pups to Tanglewoof at Tanglewood. It was hard for us to find at first because we would go past the gate and pay the entry fee to get in looking, only to be disappointed. Be sure that when you pull into the park at the entrance, you take the first left before the gate and go all the way to end. There is parking and two dog parks, to separate big and small pups. The big dog park is especially large and when there are several dogs there at once, it's a great place to watch your pups run around to get great exercise. I would just caution you not to bring them on days where it's just rained though. It's crazy muddy and you do NOT want to drag that back into the car with you. read more

Tanglewood is a great park. They got something for everyone. Golf course, lakes for fishing, biking trails, walking trails, dog park, campgrounds, tennis courts, swimming pools, etc.. If you drive into the park, versus darting off to the left (road taking you to the dog park, campground and farmers market), then you have to pay a $2 fee per car. This is a very nice park with many amenities. I just went there this year for the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. We went opening weekend and it was already pretty busy. They loop you around a big area before even letting you through the gates. Then, it's pretty much bumper to bumper traffic through the park. The lights were very nice and we listened to the recommended 99.5 holiday music station and really got into the season. There is also a gift shop stop where you can make s'mores. This is nice to do at least once, but be aware it's one way traffic, once you go there you cannot turn around and have to go through the whole park before leaving. My company's annual picnic is also held at this park. The shelter that we have it is nice and spacious. It's also near a large green space for people to run around and play activities. read more

This is a review of the CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE at Tanglewood. This is a true championship layout that is not in championship course condition. Not that it is in bad shape on the tees, fairways, and greens. But as you play you can imagine what it must have been like when they played professional events here. One of the features I like most about this course (especially in this area) is that it was designed to be walked. No quarter mile walks from green to tee, no extreme elevation changes (though the course is hardly flat). There is alot of sand on this course, but if you play the right tee box and think your way around you can avoid alot of it. At the same time, the biggest liability of the course conditioning is the EXTREMELY uneven condition of the sand - hard, soft, white, red, rocks, smooth. Since the sand traps are one of the biggest features of the course, this is particularly frustrating. In the condition it is in, I would not pay the "rack rate" to play Tanglewood Championship, but we often find good discounts on Golf Now which make playing here a good value indeed. read more

The festival of lights as a joke. The greedy owners of this place makes millions off of the lights yet they don't have any lights. It is the same lives that have been there for years. Nothing new nothing special. We waited five hours for a huge disappointment.You would think with all of the money they make they would give them to charity or have a lot of new lights every year. Greedy greedy greedy. When they get to heaven I hope they are as disappointed as we were with their lights. I honestly feel like with what they charge and with a small amount of lights and the long wait that it feels like a spit in my face. read more
