We went to several stores, had to wait for a salesperson and then had a hard time getting questions answered. Then luckily we went to Floor Craze and immediately had the manager's full attention. He showed us a a great selection, ranging from gorgeous high-end wool carpeting and wood flooring to stylish ceramic tile for the mudroom. He explained all the options, including the pros and cons, and gave us a very specific, detailed quote for each room, including taking out the existing flooring, and installing the padding and new flooring. Their prices are surprisingly reasonable! As soon as he placed the order for each room, he gave us frequent updates on delivery and installation times. The whole crew was warm, friendly, efficient and very professional from delivery through installation through cleanup. Everything was delivered and installed on time and perfectly.The rug for our entry had to be re-cut and rebound twice, for example, due to changes during renovation, and Floor Craze did that seamlessly within a couple of days, both tones. **CROOKED CARPETS & DISHONESTY** Our carpet is installed…read morecrookedly, and despite our goodwill offering to share in the cost of fixing their error, the owner smiled and claimed our walls are "off." We proved with a tape measure that our walls are straight, and he still smiled and tried to gaslight us. **INTIMIDATION** On the installation day, the installer shared a manipulative story: "A lady made me redo an installation because she thought it was crooked, and instead of fixing it, I just made it even more crooked." I found this unsettling. What? Why is he telling me this? I thought, and that's when I went into the room to see our crooked carpet. **NO ATTENTION TO DETAILS** Our mahogany doors and baseboards were damaged during the installation, despite our prior concerns and the owner's assurance that there was no need to worry. **RUDE** If it matters, and your carpets are adequately done, three times during our experience with the owner, he speaks passive-aggressively, and one time angrily because he was out on his boat during business hours taking our call; we were returning his call because he wanted to postpone the installation. On another occasion, I walked into the garage, where they were cutting the carpet; the installer had the owner on speakerphone (because they were unsure they had enough carpet), and I overheard the owner joke about my watching them work.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!
