Life is hard. Everyone experiences strife in their lives. You need to be able to be at peace with yourself and come to terms with various situations. I've heard a lot about meditation over the years and decided to give it a try. I took a class through PCC and learned a lot about meditation and Buddhist teachings. The class I took was a 5 or 6 week course taught by Heather Rocklin (she's fantastic). Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of times where I fell asleep during meditation and I felt bored out of my mind, but you have to know that MEDITATION IS HARD. REALLY HARD. Really hard to get into and really hard to stick to, but the benefits of meditation are amazing. I'm not at the point where meditation is strictly a part of my routine, but I can already feel the emotional and mental benefits. Greater Portland Bible Church, a Christian church, has a wonderful food pantry which is open to the…read morepublic on Saturday afternoons. It is frequented by those in need of a little assistance. Quality food is brought straight from freezers and refrigerators from local grocery stores, and is directly deposited into the church freezers and refrigerators. It is only removed shortly before being dispersed among food pantry visitors. There are many happy individuals and families returning each week. This church is committed to doing God's work in the local community.

I was expecting worship music that glorified God and the season and I received that, but when we got to the message for the evening I was extremely let down. The pastor spent the last half of the service making references to pop culture and his own personal life. I did not come to hear your personal life story on CHRISTMAS Pastor Lindseth. Super disappointing but not surprised.

We were so glad to find St. John Fisher parish for our wedding. This group of people is so…read morewelcoming and sweet. The sacrament coordinator, Maura, is the kindest person and she really made the entire process of Catholic marriage so fun and exciting (honestly, when we were first learning about the steps for a Catholic marriage we were a little intimidated). The Church is beautiful and open. They were flexible and recommended the musician who played at our wedding. (He was great!) They took care of sending in our marriage license and everything was just very smooth and easy. Fr. Richard was a joy to work with--we are so glad that he was the officiant for our wedding. His style is very positive and we loved this for our wedding celebration. How lucky we feel to have found this Church, it will remain as a special place for us.
