    Can someone explain to me what a hospital is supposed to provide for patient care. My brother was…read morebrought in by ambulance for a potential stoke. A CT scan did show a stroke had occurred and that a large mass was seen on one lung with multiple clots. They needed to perform a MRI to see in more detail but unfortunately the machine was broken, and he had to wait three days to get the scan and results. They then suspected cancer of the lungs and needed a PET scan for confirmation, but the PET scan is not in the hospital and he has to be discharged to have one at their facility in Bourbonnais. They send him home on blood thinners so that he can have the scan. He then has another stroke and back to the hospital. They decide he needs a Biopsy of lung to determine the type of cancer in the lung and course of treatment. Sent home to have biopsy scheduled as outpatient surgery that is done two days later. The diagnose comes back stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. Appointment set for week away to see cancer doctor at Bourbonnais facility to discuss treatment options. He is sent home to await appointment. Two days before appointment he has episode of cant breath and turning grey, back to hospital test run show fluid around the heart and emergency surgury to put in drain tube performed. He is now being sent home to await still for the appointment to see cancer doctor to set plan for cancer treatment. My question is why does it take 3weeks to even begin talking about treatment for a serious cancer that is causing all the issues and why is the treatment not even started in the hospital? If this the way they treat people here you may want to consider another option .

    If you have an eating disorder, I would not recommend coming to this hospital in any way, shape or…read moreform, seeing as Riverside's policy seems to be treating medical emergencies by telling patients they're obese and need to lose weight, even though they know this patient has an eating disorder and a wide array of other health problems and disabling physical diagnosis that messes with eating and weight gain. Riverside would rather call patients obese and tell them to loose weight instead of choosing to help them with the medical emergency they were experiencing at the time. Health care is not how I would describe the services offered at this hospital, unless you are a straight wealthy and healthy white man. One star is the least amount of stars I could give and I wish I didn't have to give you that many. The healthcare available in this county is truly abominable and the fact that you are on the top of the list out of the shit heap there is available, worries me and discourages me from seeking any medical care from anyone within a 20 mile radius of me. The drive up to Chicago is definitely worth it if you can do it. The healthcare workers closer to the city actually seem to give a shit that the people they are treating are also human people like themselves, and not just sacks of flesh and possible money Riverside sees.

What we were met with was a Dr who wouldn't listen. An ultrasound that showed basically nothing. No due date. No measurements. Dr. Zelda wouldn't listen to me about the spotting I was experiencing and just kept saying its normal. We took it upon ourselves to pay out of pocket for an ultrasound somewhere else THE NEXT DAY and we saw the baby with a heart beat. Saturday around 2am the bleeding started to get heavier and we chose to go to the emergency room. I called Dr Zelda and left a message for them to send to her and was told I wouldn't hear back until the next morning. NO CALL. Sunday around 4am the bleeding is a horror show with strong cramping and back to the ER we go. Again I call to send a message to Dr. Zelda about the emergency. NO CALL. I lost my child that day. The hospital said to make a followup appointment with the OB inside of the next 7 days and I had no one else to call but her. Today was supposed to be my appointment at 2:45 and they never scheduled it in the system. The receoptionist asks the Dr if she can squeeze me in but Dr. Zelda says she doesnt want to see me until after I have an HCG blood draw. Ridiculous! I have already gone through the nightmare of losing my first pregnancy, I had blood draws during both hospital visits and two ultrasounds - one showing the baby was gone. HORRIBLE CARE. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE.

The girl i talked to admitted to forgetting my request, a week after she promised to send me information. I had a miscarriage and called a couple times overnight to ask questions. It's nice that they have someone on call 24 hours for that, but the OB on call both nights, lizzy Andrews, wasn't listening to me and finally told me in an exasperated tone to just go to the .ER if i thouht i needed to. How was i supposed to know how things were supposed to go with a miscarriage? Not only was i in severe pain, i was emotionally exhausted. I called during business hours to talk to a nurse after not getting any helpnthe night before from lizzy Andrews only to be told there was not a nurse in yet, but they would hase someone call me when they got there. I had to call back an hour and a half later because no one ever called. It's too bad, i really liked my midwife, but i will never be returning riverside after my awful experience.

    Worst experience we have ever had and didn't even meet Dr. Almeida or step foot in the office! My…read morehusband was in the hospital for 11 days because of covid. He was on oxygen the whole time and close to being put on a ventilator. After being released, still on oxygen, we were instructed to call the our GP and pulmonologist for a follow up. We set up our follow up with our GP and he ordered a chest xray to have available for the pulmonologist. We called and set up an appointment with Dr. Almeida as a new patient being told to bring our insurance card and photo ID. We were to arrive early to fill out forms. At the time of making the appointment, I asked to be called back by a nurse to confirm I was doing things correctly with the oxygen saturation and we had questions. I was told I would get a call back in 24-48 hours. Never did receive a call! On the day of our appointment, after loading up my husband on oxygen and extra tanks and making sure we had everything, arriving 20 minutes early to be able get him in a wheel chair, park the car, and to the appointment on time, we received a phone call. We were getting ready to head in and on the phone call they tell us we can not be seen because he is covid positive and not considered a new patient! I proceeded to tell her that he was covid positive over a month ago, was in the hospital for 11 days, where they visited him everyday, and had completed all quarantine necessary as instructed. I also told her he was a new patient as he had never been seen in the office by her. The receptionist still proceeded to tell us we could not be seen and would have to set up another appointment, a Zoom appointment. Isn't it the pulmonologist that needs to listen to your lungs and go over the chest xray you just made a point to get so she could go over it with us at our 1st appointment? Did they not hear me when I made the appointment that I was calling to set it up because my husband had been in the hospital 11 days because of covid? Could they not have told me at that time of setting the appointment that we would not be considered a new patient? Very unacceptable in the medical field. Extremely disappointing experience with this office and do not intend on calling for a Zoom appointment. Its sad that this group are is the only pulomonolgists in the area. Well we will be going elsewhere! I am fortunate to have family and friends who are in healthcare and with their help and the help of the great people at Family Home Medical to guide us along the way, my husband is improving everyday!! It is very unfortunate that patients are considered a number in some offices and gone are the days of actually caring for people! I have worked in a doctors office for over 20 years and never once should a patient be treated like this.
