Ive gone here since my puppies were just a month old and even though theyve been helpful when they were puppies now that theyre a year and bigger i feel they hear the husky talk and automaticlly decide to muzzle them. i understand barking but it freaks the dogs out even more and have no history of bitting anyone. More over today took three dogs there for annual shots and it took 2.5 half hours to finish the visit. 30 minutes were actually in the vet the other 2 was waiting to get seen and waiting for the bill which after being billed was told they dont take care credit due to not having a specific mechine. no where in the building or online does it say they dont take care credit. I even made sure before hand with looking at the care credit locator to make sure they took it, to be surprised that they dont and wont even use the card numbers once it was time to pay. Inconclusion doctors have always been nice and great but they dont take care credit and wont mention that till you need to pay, have long wait and, have a rushed atmosphere. Granted the nurse did tell me shes tried to talk to corporate about it but no response but even so i think it should have been mentioned or at least brought up when looking to be seen. read more

While my vet visit went well, I feel the staff did not take proper attention and may have rushed things. They were very caring for my pet, but gave me false results on skin scrapings as my pets condition returned a few weeks after the vet told me he was negative. I emailed the clinic about my concerns and haven't heard back. I was also given a dose of bravecto that may have been expired or no good because it did not prevent fleas on my cat, and it should have been good for 3 months. read more

This place is excellent! We were visiting my parents from out of state and our Shih Tzu started to urinate drops of blood. We arrived 30 min before they opened and were seen immediately. They are reasonable in price and we especially appreciated that they obtained a urine specimen without catheterizing her and instead took her outside and placed a tray under her when she peed. They prescribed pain meds and antibiotics and she is doing much better now. Highly recommend this place! read more

Good care for my dogs. They listen. They take time. Thorough. I am well pleased. The wait can be a while, but they get what you need done. So it is worth the wait. Not insanely expensive like some places we have been in the past. read more

They refused to euthanize a critical injured cat because they were on a 2 1/2 hour (!) lunch break . . . and later had owner wait until owner decided to drive suffering cat to other vet. Cat died while screaming and suffering in the car. Horrible! Shame on this clinic. read more

I took my dog there today because she had a cut on the pad of her foot. They looked at her for 10 seconds then said they would not see her because "we can't do anymore surgery today". They referred me to Oso vet clinic (who were amazing). Oso gave her a collar and some antibiotics and said the injury would heal on its own. read more

Absolutely love Riverside. Been using them for many years thru Dr Denman & now Posey. I have had to use other vets periodically due to my schedule, work, temporary relocating but I will always stay with Riverside. Dr Posey makes sure its affordable especially knowing your on a budget but provides the best care. My lil dog was near death with kidney failure a few weeks ago. She stayed for 3 days, it was very affordable less than what I expected & less than what was quoted, its taken a week here at home on meds but she is slowly recovering thanks to Dr Posey, Mingo, the lady at the hospital part & staff. All very cordial. I just knew it was time to let her go but Dr Posey didnt. He wanted to see if she got better or maintained on her own at home first. Im so thankful for his doctoring! This vet is efficient and CHEAP, and I'm confident in their expertise. They don't try to sell you everything under the sun, like a vet we have tried before (in Alice). Even though you can't make an appointment (first come, first serve), they will get your dog/cat in and out fast. If you need to board your animal, it's only $10/night. Holy Cow .... that's the cheapest I've ever paid! Unfortunately, my Westie has the never-ending ear infection, so we'll be back first thing tomorrow. At least I know it won't cost me more than $40 or so..... read more

They treated us horrible, my dog was very sick and they made me leave him overnight. Nothing was done to him other than just gave him fluids. And "X-rays". Dr.Posey said he knew I was on a budget so he only did some stuff for him. Than after I tell him about how I felt about his staff being rude, and one of them having a anxiety attack with us, "so she says" he didn't seem to care. Once I told him I would be leaving a review on Yelp and Facebook about him , he said" I don't give a sh*t"! Just plain rude people, all about money! No compassion for the animals! read more

Me and my husband are from Arkansas and moved here in the last 5 months we got a weenie dog from Alice and the litter our dog was in had been going to this vet clinic and I will say it's the best one I've ever been too. They know my dog very well from his litter and they take great care of the dog and the owner as well I do not have to sit for very long and everytime we go in everyone who is waiting is so nice. I love it here and we'll continue to go here and any bad review of this place they get is a lie. It's nothing but perfection read more

Wow!!! What an awesome vet experience. Aside from the wait because they only take walk-ins, I was impressed. I took 2 dogs, got rabies shots, heartworm tests, nails clipped, a little well-dog check up, ears cleaned, medicated shampoo, antibiotics, and 1 month heartworm/flea prevention for ach dog for $208!!!! I arrived in town for a move-in with a seriously freaked out cat who hid in a crawl space between my headboard & bed at the hotel & wouldn't come out for roughly 24 hours until I dragged him out & eliminated the crawl space. He then hid anyplace he could. He had gone about 36 hours without eating or drinking and I had already tried a feliway phermone diffuser with no results. At that point, I figured I had a serious problem (potential feline hepatic lipidosis) and called the vet in town with the highest yelp evals. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars, but that is not an option. I called right as they opened to try and get an appointment, but they don't give those. They are strictly "walk-in". I tried to get some idea when my cat might be seen, but the practice was evasive and they said "fair" when I asked how busy they were. So, I crammed my freaked out cat in a carrier and went there. The waiting room impressed me as a twilight zone version of hell. It was about the size of two broom closets with only two waiting rooms adjoining. It took the receptionist about 20 minutes to even ask me who I was or what my pet's name was (they never got to his problem). I then sat there another 25 minutes with nobody being called back to the waiting room. During that time, a woman's dog kept on pressing his nose against the side of my cat's carrier and slobbering over it & she got belligerent when I asked her to restrain her dog. Extrapolating that situation & knowing I had a directv appointment to get set up at my new place some time between 12PM and 4PM, I got up & left. This may be an ok practice for the great unwashed who have pets like that lady's dog with itchy faces if the owners are unemployed, have no place to go or work sporadically for minimum wage. I got depressed just being there for 45 minutes. Feline hepatic lipidosis kills. So now you had a freaked out pet and a freaked out owner. I called up another practice in town and got an appointment in an hour. read more

the only drawback is the waiting really -- it's not a fancy place but the vet was recommended by my vet back home before we moved, and I have been pleased. I learned the hard way people come in and sign in , then leave for hours and return. I waited for 3 plus hours one day - thankfully it was nice and me and the dog sat outside and enjoyed the sun and the breeze. Just recently saw the area out back - and we're going to sit out there next time. Have been with one seriously sick dog - that they referred me to the specialist in San Antonio ---- they were honest he needed care they could not provide - and a week later he was able to come home from SA. Seems reasonably priced -- you can't go wrong for basic vet services - staff is nice but you can tell busy. Been there with other dogs - we have 6. Had a dog euthanized there as well, very sympathetic and caring with that as well. read more

Yesterday 3-30-2016 I walked in with my Doberman. She had a piece of a hook in her nose. I signed in and waited for a very short time. Karma and I were called in, she was weighed. Everyone working there were very cheerful. They made me feel at ease and explained everything to me and if I had questions they were answered and with a smile. Doc came right in and immediately explained what would happen. A few jokes were made and I felt better about leaving my baby there. I later returned to get Karma. I was directed to the back area where again everything was explained to me and I felt at ease. I believe I will continue to go back to them with my pets my family members. If everyone that I see loves their pet as much as I love treating animals, and helping owners, then hopefully we can look past each others minor shortfalls and expectations. I practice with the philosophy that people don't buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it. I am amazed by how much "Yelp" can erroneously influence a potential clients choice, without being able to defend the ridiculous accusations that I see on this "help site"... please do not be misled by a one sided testimonial that is at best false, and at most slanderous. I have to say my experience with Riverside hasn't lived up to my expectations considering the other reviews on here. I took my dog in for stitching up a huge gash in his shoulder and they really dropped the ball on getting it stitched in a timely manner. He wasn't stitched until late the next day, the communication was non-existent (unless I initiated it, even though they assured me they would let me know what was going on with him). As a result, he didn't heal very well due to tissue death around the wound (which they knew would be a problem, cause they told me they trimmed the edges of the wound hoping for better adhesion). If they couldn't attend to him that day, they should have let me know so I could have taken him somewhere where they could. And as far as price goes, I paid $370 for that stitch job (and a heartworm test), which I feel is WAY overpriced. I don't know that I would go back. read more

I wanted to take my cats to this vet and when I went it was too late to sign up because of the huge line ahead of me. I didnt mind, I just thought'oh well'. However the front secretary gave us attitude as if we should have known about the line. She raised her voice at us and yelled how long other people were waiting before us. Other pet owners stared at us as she made a big scene. It was embarrasing and unnecessary, especially for my first visit! :/ read more

I am very particular about the care my pets receive and I can't say enough about this clinic. The staff is very pleasant and extremely helpful. We adopted a rescue that is currently getting heart worm treatment and they have been fabulous. Dr. Posey spent extra time with us explaining the pros and cons of the treatment. I have called several times to check on our pet and never have they made me feel that it was an imposition. Thank you to all of you!!! read more

Think the staff and Dr Posey are very good. They try and help if they can and yes it is very busy around his office. That should tell you something that he is very liked. He is very good at not trying to herd you through the door so again that takes time when he cares for your pet and that you understand what is going on. The first come first serve is fine for you know that if you are there you and your pet will be seen no matter how long you have to wait. His prices I think are very reasonable and his care is wonderful. read more

I have been bringing my pets to see Dr. Denman for almost 20 years, the care he and his staff provide is excellent, with exception of my last visit. I brought my Rat Terrier in for a surgery with Dr. Posey, when I picked him up at 5 PM, I encountered a rude and unhelpful elderly female veterinary assistant, when asked what care he needed after his surgery, she replied "none" and walked away. I consider this very poor customer service and should not be tolerated; if this person is so miserable and rude she should not deal with the public and be terminated immediately. I ended up having to go home and phone in talk to Dr. Posey for post surgery care. This was an exception; I have always in the past received the best care possible for my pets, read more

A complete blessing of a place. This the most amazing vet to take your pet to ever! The staff are very comforting, they explain everything with nothing left out. Very welcoming and friendly! I love their sense of humor. Humor is important to me because it automatically warms me up and Im able to bond w the people caring for my fur kid! They actually care about your pet and I drive from corpus to them because theyre the most professional. The building may be small but the staff always smile, they are so concerned.
