After moving to the area / new environment, I thought it would be a good idea to receive some formal training & I'm so glad I did! I attended two classes: Intro to Kayaking & the Kayak Safety and Rescue classes. Intro to Kayaking: I quickly learned there was a lot more than just simply jumping into your kayak! Important things like; How to get in/out of your kayak without looking like a dummy! How to correctly hold & use your paddle (your arms will thank you!); and different paddling techniques (that will help you in various situations). Kayak Safety and Rescue: This class is a must for anyone who kayaks! Not only do you learn how to help yourself, you learn how to help your fellow kayakers! I HIGHLY recommend both classes. Aardvark's instructor (Matt) is an experienced kayaker & Eco Tour Guide - and a OUTSTANDING (and patient) instructor. We kinda got lost the first 90mins and didn't know where we going but eventually we got to the area where the manatees were gathering. A bit crowded and I felt bad everyone so close to the protected species. Overall a super a cool experience. We went during manatee festival in January so it was a bit crowded but not overwhelming. It was a beautiful day with beautiful site seeing. Def recommend!

Derrick took the time to tell our kiddos about "oh shoot" the alligator and explain the directions to the coolest waterfront swing along the path. They also took the time to make sure our littles had the perfect size life vests and loaded us into the comfy shuttle van. At KP hole we were unloaded and given time to pay the park entrance and receive our wristbands, then loaded into our kayak at the bottom of the boat ramp. We paddled upriver to visit the headwater then paddled back down to where we parked at RRCK. A few things I wish I had known: be sure to pack plenty of snack in reusable containers, it seems easy to dock and get concessions at the headwater park or Swampy's, but it is not. Also, be sure to bring a rope to tie off while you explore the streams or deeper areas. Overall, it's a perfect day in old Florida! We loved seeing otters, alligators and turtles...and being welcomed by Derrick who loaded up our kayak and asked about our paddle. Nothing better than all the adventures, with none of the clean up or pack up!

This location is prime to all the local fresh springs,, scalloping and lots of pontoons to take out. Sadly, so many people love these flexible boat memberships. That the times of reservations is tight. But with careful planning and the great flexibility of the boat club. We find it still worth it.

I ended up taking it to Three Rivers Marine, and within a few minutes they diagnosed the problem and ordered parts to get it up and running. They were super affordable and had great service. I almost lost my life at Rainbow River, and I feel like I need to share this for anyone considering…read moretubing there. I came expecting a peaceful, relaxing experience because that's what you see in the pictures and reviews. Instead, I ended up in one of the scariest moments of my life. I fell out of my tube and got stuck in deep mud. My water shoe was literally sucked into the mud, and I couldn't push myself up from the bottom. I couldn't get back on my tube because my legs were stuck, and I had already gone underwater and was coughing. What made it even worse was that my daughter, who cannot swim, had drifted away and I couldn't see her. I truly thought I might drown and that something could happen to my daughter. I was panicking, crying, and shaking. By the grace of God, I saw the only boat nearby and flagged them down. They went back and picked me up and my daughter too. I will never forget the people who helped us. I truly believe they prevented a tragedy that day. Another important thing to mention is that this happened toward the evening on a weekday, and there were almost no people left on the river. We were some of the last people out there. I got incredibly lucky that there happened to be a boat nearby because otherwise, I don't know what would have happened to me or my daughter. What upsets me the most is that there was no real safety briefing or warning about the risks. We were given tubes and sent off. No one explained the currents, deep areas, muddy bottoms, or what to do in an emergency. No one recommended life jackets to us, even though not everyone in our group could swim. Please understand that there are no lifeguards. Depending on the time of day, you may find yourself with very few people around to help in an emergency. If I hadn't been able to flag down that boat, this story could have ended very differently. I later learned that other people have had similar frightening experiences here, and I understand why. Please, if you decide to go: * Wear a life jacket, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. * Do not assume the water is shallow because it's a spring. * Do not bring children or adults who cannot swim without extra precautions. * Understand that there are no lifeguards and you are responsible for your own safety. This experience was so traumatic for me that I still have flashbacks and cannot imagine ever returning. A beautiful place can still be dangerous, and I wish I had known that before I went. Please stay safe.

STAY AWAY! GO FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD!…read more We rented a kayak last Wednesday. After the gentleman told my husband that particular kayak had dumped out another couple, we should have rethought what we were doing and driven down the road to the much nicer kayak rental facility. But we didn't know about the other place at the time, and we thought the other couple must have been new to kayaking. Well, WE turned out to be neophytes. The kayak we were given was very narrow and unstable. That kayak was meant for speed, not for people who wanted to leisurely paddle along. Instead, we spent our time trying to remain upright. Then came the speed boat with the idiot who was thoughtless of everyone else on, or in (meaning the manatees) the river. He flew by much too fast and the boat's wske was too high and violent. Yep. We partially dumped over. My husband in back fell completely out of the kayak, which stopped it from completely flipping over. I was soaked but somehow managed to stay seated. We took care of ourselves. However, we were soaked and the day wasn't warm, so we headed back. I was furious at the gentleman who rented us that kayak when he knew its history. Whoever bought that kayak for their business made a serious mistake. We should have been made whole or at least received a partial refund. But nothing was offered - my husband is too kind. I am not, and gave them a piece of my mind. There is a bsr and restaurant out front, snd I guess the shacks are the "cabins" for rent. PLEASE do yourself a favor and keep on driving by. I will say the employees I met inside the bar when I used the restroom were nice, but that's not enough to recommend a place. STAY AWAY! GO FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD.
