I have not been to this spa in a few years but it is by far my favourite in the city. I get massages by an RMT which was covered by my health insurance and have always found their treatments to be very effective. There are snacks provided and a nice area to relax in. In the past I'd go by myself and it is very peaceful and calming. I would highly recommend to others. There is a restaurant on-site just past the lobby of Inn at the Forks called SMITH that you can dine at afterwards and I would highly recommend. read more

Most places offer a refund and replacement if they don't provide what was purchased. Not Riverstone, they ensure the customer pays for company mistakes. We booked a "couples" massage as a family day and were really excited to try hot stone therapy. We had to call to book since it wasn't letting us online and we were told we had to book many weeks out to both have hot stone, after a lot of back and forth we settled on one receiving hot stone and one regular massage so we could book sooner. Even at that, openings were very minimal and we had to work our schedules around it. We were not warmly greeted upon arrival and provided cheap polyester robes. Our locker stopped working making us need to go back out to rescue our belongings. After the massage we asked each other how the hot stone was (since in the midst of the silence we both thought somehow the other had been assigned the hot stone masseuse) and realized NEITHER of us had received it. Upon bringing it up at the. front we were offered $4 off our $420 appointment. No replacement offered for the service we never received. The massage itself was fine, but masseuse was sick and coughing. The level of service here and the fact that we never got what we booked was a huge disappointment and frankly this establishment isn't even close to living up to the hefty price tag they charge. Today was my 2nd visit to this spa. I had a delux pedicure alongside my sister and daughter. We put our belongings in lockers and wore the plush robes and sandals to the lounge while we waited for the room to be ready. We were treated to water, tea, cookies and fruit. Our pedicures were in a dim room with soft music. The chairs reclined. We were covered in a blanket and a soft eye cover. We were relaxed with some aromatherapy and a head, neck massage. I almost fell asleep. My toes look great, and I totally enjoyed the foot massage. We retreated back to the lounge and waited for the varnish to dry. Enjoying more tea and water. We were invited to use the sauna, but we wanted to go for lunch. We all left in a much better state than when we arrived. read more

I'm in search of my go-to massage place in Winnipeg. This place is winning the race so far! Got at 50 minute Swedish massage by Kirstie today and I was in heaven. We discussed my trouble areas and she definitely worked out the kinks I pointed out. Even though it was supposed to be a Swedish and soothing massage, she really dug into my muscles and worked them out. It was mildly painful but I knew I needed it from having such tense muscles. I'm glad I didn't opt for the deep tissue massage because that would have been too painful. I like the little lounge area where you hang out before and after your session. They always keep goodies such as biscottis, dried fruit, nuts, pastries and tea and water for you. There's a nice little waterfall area and lots of cushiony seating to get you relaxed. My massage was pricy at $110 for 50 minutes. That is a little too much even though it was wonderful. The search continues.... read more

Heaven! Im surprused my fellow yelpers haven't given higher reviews for this spa. I have been here twice and its been pure bliss both times. I have had the best relaxation massages here. Soooo relaxing with aromatherapy oils, then hot towels to remove the oils and a mint lotion that cools the skin after. You lie on this super comfy bed thats heated and soft blankets. Relaxing music in the background... it is a recipe for relaxation bliss. After the massage I enjoyed relaxing in the sps lounge with snacks, a book and the most delicious cucumber infused water I have had. Unfortunately I didnt have time to use the rain room or sauna this time.... My only criticism is the friendliness of the front counter staff could use some improvement. read more

I fell on the escalator in the train station and I came out bruised and sore. While staying at the Mere, it was suggested that I make an appointment here. While it was certainly a splurge for my budget, my massage with Winnie saved the rest of my vacation. She was professional and excellent and really knew her stuff. Awful, awful, awful. I usually go elsewhere, but I received a gift certificate from work. Upon arriving I was told that I couldn't use the gift cert on that particular day. Fair enough, but I wish I'd been told that when booking. My shoes and jacket were taken from me, as is usually the case. I only note this because they took my jacket to hang somewhere that I couldn't see and, once I finished paying, they did not offer to give my jacket back. When I requested it, I was told to help myself, but I didn't know where the coat closet was. As for the pedicure itself, it was nothing special and I get pedicures quite frequently. Upon arriving home, I realized that the rather large big toenail that had been clipped off one of my feet was still dangling by an edge. How does the esthetician who has her face a foot away from my feet not see that? Especially through filing and then painting? Second visit (to use the gift cert I couldn't the first time) I got a manicure. Again, nothing special. When I went to pay, the girl watched me struggle to try and not damage the fresh polish, getting into my purse, but did not offer to help. Any other salons either ask if you want to pay first, or offer assistance, when you're booked for a manicure. I don't get them often, so I forgot to think of this myself before starting. Anyway, the polish ended up being completely ruined and I had to remove it all as soon as I got home. No refreshments available both times I was there. Atmosphere nothing special. My experiences were that this salon thought it was a high class establishment, but didn't deliver on service. Attitude very uppity overall. I would NEVER return. Better service for better prices elsewhere in Winnipeg. read more

If I could give this place a 0 start rating I would. If you are sick they charge you 50% of the massage even after their receptionist Baily said they wouldn't. As soon as they have your money you'll never see it back. They don't care if you're sick or that it's COVID. Their "spa director" Alicia Brown is so rude and has horrible customer service. read more

Located at the Inn at the Forks, the Riverstone was a good escape. I really liked how they emphasized the quietness inside the spa. That's why I go. I want a quiet relaxing time. I was given slippers upon entering, but a little awkward to walk in with my shoes in my hands. This could have been done inside the change room. I had a massage, but came to the lounge area about 20mins before my treatment. They had a lot of refreshments including banana bread, a small blueberry muffin, some sweet fruit dried, and tea. The tea selection was nice, but it was cold. (luke warm). What was interesting was that they brewed loose leaf tea in a coffee pot. I need to try that. I got called in at some time, and I realize that later when they say 60 mins massage, we're actually getting 50 mins after all the admin, set up and getting changed, and sometimes they let you out early. No different from other places. My Therapist was nice, but here's my rant against women therapists. I like strong pressure. After a lot of trial and error, I have now learnt to tell them this ahead of time. But I think when she tried to press harder, she didn't have the strength. At some point, she was doing something, and I couldn't feel a thing. Very relaxing, but i need more pressure. The lotions used were really nice. The bed was like a hospital bed that can go every which way - it was a little weird, but very functional. And it was heated. $90 for 60 minutes of massage. And they are RMTs. My first visit to Riverstone is a bit mixed so I will have to offset that with my sister's experience since we came together. My first impression is that they are very warm and welcoming. From the moment we were greeted, the receptionist person was very warm and knowledgeable. She brought us in and gave us some slippers to put on and took our coats. She mentioned that the spa was renovated for about a year (this was my first visit so I have no idea what the change was but my sister said it was a nice change). She then proceeded to give us a tour of the changing rooms. The changing room is much smaller than Ten Spa (that will be my comparison). There's 3 individual showers with all the fancy shower heads, one steam room and one sauna. The locker area is kinda tight if there's more than 4 women in there at once. The sauna is also pretty small - once again, pretty cramped if there's more than 4 women. But they seemed good about spacing appointments so there were anywhere from 2-6 women in entire changing area. Everything is very clean. Sound is kind of an issue as the sauna room door is glass so it's not a perfect seal when you close it and you hear a lot of noise from the changing room. So not the most serene. I didn't try the showers so can't comment on that. The steam room had an odd smell so we didn't stay there. The lounge area had some tea, bran/carrot/coconut/sunflower seed muffins, dried fruit and cucumber infused water. Food wise, not as much selection as Ten Spa. The lounge has a lot of chairs, a waterfall piece and a natural gas fireplace in the centre of the room. This is a quiet area and it stayed that way even when other clients came into the room. I opted for the 50 min custom massage $105, to compare Ten Spa's same version is $115. The room was nice and calm and had some lovely non-traditional music (meaning no new age stuff....thank goodness) but some laid back songs. My sister had a great massage - deep tissue and loved hers. Mine was so-so as it was not the level of deep tissue massage that I generally prefer. Massage therapists are all different in their technique and pressure levels so while mine wasn't great, it was good and felt relaxing enough. I just would choose a different therapist next time. The massage tables are warmed up nicely and they give some you nice aromatherapy to start and they put some nice peppermint oil on your back after your massage. Overall, it was a good experience and I would say it's better than Ten Spa from the perspective that the staff feel much more welcoming. Ten Spa receptionists are the worst - they don't smile and make you feel like you should be lucky to even have an appointment - that's not a good start. But the Ten Spa massage therapists are consistently good from my prior visits. So really, both places are a toss up for me as there are pros and cons to each but I liked Riverstone.....another plus is that parking is free and fairly easy to find especially since you're in the Forks. Oh yeah, no direct billing for insurance so you have to get a receipt and submit to your provider. read more

Worst pedicure I have had. The dry skin was not taken off, my toenails cut crooked and not cleaned underneath. The whole experience was aggravating. The manager took off 50% which made it 50.00. Definitely not worth that. The local chop shop can do a way better pedicure for 20.00. What a waste of time and money! read more

My first time at a spa was quite decadent, pampering and relaxing. I got a gift certificate to come here, otherwise I probably would have not gone since I'm not usually one to "treat or pamper" myself, but I'm glad I got the chance. I might just have to do it again! Keep in mind, it is my first time and I'm not sure if my complaints are warranted since I'm not sure what the norm at these types of places is. Pros: -easy to schedule appointment at best time for me -easy, free parking inside the Inn at the Forks located at The Forks... easy to get to, convenient location and a fun place to explore after -all the staff, including admin is friendly, professional and helpful -it is beautiful, relaxing, quiet and clean no matter what room you are in, including the lobby -I got the Essential Foot Therapy, an afternoon 1 hour foot therapy with manicure. -The room is nice and calm, with quiet nature sounds and gentle music notes playing. It is a great temperature and she offers you a cozy blanket and eye cover. -I got a brief scalp and neck massage, and some citrusy aromatherapy (but I'm sensitive to smells and happy this one was ok... it might be a good idea to ask first, although I know not many people have this issue). -The foot soak was nice, warm and bubbly. -The chair reclined at a comfortable angle and was very comfortable overall. -The foot treatment itself was amazing... especially the massage. -The pedicure turned out beautiful. My feet have never looked or felt so pretty and fresh and clean. -The whole experience was so delightfully relaxing. I was worried I would be bored just lying there for an hour, but I practically fell asleep into a day dream like feeling which was pure bliss. -Afterward, waiting for my nails to dry, they let me stay as long as I wished to just chill. Cons: -I'm not sure how much these places usually cost, but I'm not sure I would pay this much... I will try another pedicure place first to see if the results are the same and if the "relaxation" part of it is worth the price -they wanted me to take off all my clothes and change into a robe just to use the spa lounge which I kind of thought was silly since I was only getting a foot treatment. Wished I could have just put a robe on top of my clothes because it would have been nice to enjoy it... I didn't realize until afterwards that there would be snacks, etc. -The slippers they give you are quite uncomfortable. Wish they were fuzzy slippers, not rubber flipflops. -The girl beside me got a terrible, sloppy French manicure so much so that even the admin girl agreed it looked horrible... but she did offer to redo it (without the Hand Treatment) for free. UPDATE: over two weeks later and my pedicure looks as good as the day it was done! I even emailed them asking them what brand/colour they used and they got back to me right away! so nice! read more

This used to be my favourite spa in the city but it has gone downhill. Just had the worst massage I've ever had by Christine. The facial afterwards felt like everything was slapped on to rush me out. I will never return here. There are better options available elsewhere read more

The spa was the worst spa in Winnipeg. Save your money and go to Ten Spa at the Fort Garry Hotel. When we first arrived, we thought our massages were going to be in the actual spa, but instead we were whisked away to the 3rd floor to a converted hotel room. Not very romantic. Part of our package was champagne and truffles for $30. We got a sample bottle of champagne to fill one glass and a truffle box 1.5 inch square. What a deal! During the entire massage, we heard the ice machine, and kids running up and down the hallway. How is this relaxing As we got the massage the masseuse applied a little too much pressure around my shoulder blades, so I asked politely for her to ease the pressure. She then stopped all together and proceeded to a new muscle group. When we walked back to the desk to pay for the services we were shocked to see that we were forced to pay a 15% gratuity. I was going to tip the ladies myself, but this gratuity should be at the customer's discretion. Finally we sat in the front to wait for our shoes to be brought back to us...after 10 minutes still nothing. So I had to finally speak up to the ladies at the front counter who had been chatting all this time to remind them of our shoes. After a long wait, one of the ladies finally brought them to us. After complaining to the manager about the poor service, she said she was going to refund some money back to our credit card. Still until this day we have not received any compensation. Just horrible. Stay away and go to Ten Spa instead! There, they treat you like a king and queen. read more
