I wonder why I waited this long to check out RJ Cinema?! We purchased tickets beforehand online which made it easy to get right to our pre-selected seats. We were in theater 5, row F, which was a great view, good sound, and spacious aisle ways. We weren't sure how the dining worked so we arrived 20 minutes early and they suggested we order at the counter and eat in the theater so we didn't miss our movie. If you're earlier, you could eat in the dining area or plan to stay after the film. We ordered at the counter, Four Mile Pig, the bbq joint connected to RJ. The menu at the counter is limited as opposed to dining in but I was still able to order what I had planned for: loaded fries. They were great! The pulled pork had a sweet bbq sauce, onions, cheese, crispy fries... I'd order again for sure. The kids snack pack was a little pricey, $10 for popcorn, gummies, and a drink but that included Icees so I could understand the elevated price. We have been here for the Sunday Brunch a few times after church. (Crossroads, right next door) We have tried so many different things from the menu and have loved them all. All of the appetizers are great! This week we had the BLT Salad, the Smoked Blackberry BBQ wings and the Honey Corn Bread! Wow! Sooo great! Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We had other workers checking on us as well throughout our meal. The restaurant is attached to the cinema. It has many tables and is decorated with movie pictures. First time eating in after many door dash orders. My wife and I both got Cuban sandwiches. It had less bbq pork then previous orders but was still very good. I had a side of onion rings; very good and my wife had the slaw. Pretzels and beer cheese are awesome every time. They have a large selection of beet on tap and regularly have music. Reading through the reviews on the front page, none of them mentioned anything about the cinema portion. I didn't have anything to eat or drink so will review only the cinema. I haven't ever been to this theatre before but wanted to give it a try. Didn't buy any concessions... got to say that the concession stand looked pretty pathetic. Tiny with what seemed like a limited selection of items, it's pretty obvious that they want to push you to buying the restaurant food and drinks. The actual theatre itself was ok. I realize this location was a theatre for years before Jungle Jim's took over the complex and I guess adding stadium seating was just too expensive. It was the older, slight incline type of theatre. Not a big deal... just an observation. I will say the seats were at least comfortable and seemed relatively new and in good shape. Film started precisely on time. That was nice. Immediately realized that this was not going to be good. Projector resolution wasn't good... screen door effect and jagged edges were visible from half way back in the theatre. This is also one of the theatres that doesn't adjust the screen masking to match the aspect ratio of the film. This is, unfortunately, pretty common any more but it doesn't make it any less lazy. But worse than that, this theatre is apparently trying to save money by either buying under-powered lamps, running them on lower power or drastically need to clean the port glass or reflector. The picture had very little contrast with dull bright areas and dark areas that were gray because of too much ambient light in the auditorium. Shadow detail was non-existent... the film that I started was pretty dark so the picture was just a lifeless, murky mess. I walked out about 15 minutes into the feature. I'll try to see the film at a better theatre. The theatre industry is hurting... badly. It's theatres like this, that provide really poor presentation quality, that are hurting it. If you care about films, go someplace else. Hopefully the food is good. read more

Went for brunch today and we both ordered the RJ Four Mile Breakfast. Standard bacon/ eggs/red skinned potatoes and toast. The food would have been good but it was barely warm. I have been here twice now, with disappointment each time On my first visit, right about lunch time, I wanted the mac bowl with pulled pork, but they said they couldnt make it for lunch. I saw that it wasnt offered on their lunch menu, but I also saw that the lunch menu had all of the things that went into this dish (pulled pork, mac, etc), so I pointed this out to the order-taker and asked again. Denied again. I ended up with the loaded fries, which were fine but unremarkable. Second visit was during dinnertime hours, so the mac bowl was available. It was decently good, but the sauce was excessively sweet and did not go well with the cheese sauce in the mac. I think that sauce on a sandwich would probably be better. The mac noodles were overcooked and on the mushy side. The portion size was extremely small - more like a kids meal than an adult entree. Nothing was outright bad.....I ate all of both items, nothing went to waste.......but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

This place is cool. I really don't think I need to say more but I will! The theater is clean and has been updated since the first time I went over 10 years ago. The real draw is everything else though. A full bar with good options made by RJ themselves. Great food and a fun place to sit down provides a for a fun time. Mins sticks with the dipping sauce was unique but in a good way. Smoked wings were definitely better than most places, they needed more sauce and more celery on the sides. My kid got the tenders she says they are 4 out of five. She would like more dipping sauces lol. Service was awesome until we got forgotten about the last 20 mins when we needed to pay the bill. Went on a Saturday night for How to Train Your Dragon (live action). Movie was at 9:40pm, got there a little after 8pm to grab a bite. Food was okay, our server was great. Surprised out how little people were there for a weekend night, could be because we got there 'later'. The 21+ bar outside was really pumping, why do we know that? We could NOT hear our movie playing AT ALL while the music was going. Luckily 11pm came around and then we could hear the movies next door overlapping our movie. Plus the seats are probably 2 decades old. Torn up, uncomfortable, no head rest and no way to adjust the table sitting IN FRONT of your face?! They also don't check for tickets so you could probably just walk right in to any movie at any time. We ended up not finishing the movie because a group of immature adults got drunk as **** and started fighting another couple there. Told the bartender on our way out as there were no other staff to be seen. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

We've been hearing about this place from friends for awhile now. Located in the lobby of a movie theatre essentially sits this hidden gem. Perfect for dinner and a movie or if you're like us the night we went they had trivia night going on which we love. The best part of our meal and what I would recommend most would be the loaded frys, which were packed with bbq flavor. I would say most of their menu was a bbq type vibe with burgers as well. I decided to give RJ a try for lunch/dinner. I have already posted that their brunch is pretty darn good. I had their Double Double Angus burger. It's big, it's juicy and wonderful from 1st bite until the last. It is a 3 napkin experience...so protect your nicer clothes. The fries were ok...not bad , but nothing special. I did try some of their Mac and cheese. I am not a super Mac and cheese fan, but this was actually pretty good. The service was awesome (both times we have been here) and to me, that is very important to the dining experience. All in all, another great meal at RJ...now it's your turn. read more

Giving it 3 stars. Food was good. We had wings which were on point, fries were delish and a brisket sandwich (melt?) Which was my least favorite. My main issue is that my son is lactose intolerant. You order from the bartender and I asked him if there was dairy in the hot dog buns. He said yes. So then I asked him if there was dairy in the chicken tenders. He said no. Mind you - he never asked anyone in the kitchen but I'll take the blame because I should have insisted on speaking to a manager. So I ordered my son chicken tenders and fries. I commented to the bartender that he just knew the answers off hand and he said "You're not the first person who's asked". Ok, great. My son happily ate his meal. On our way home after seeing the movie I noticed that they had finally replied to a FB message. Surprise! The tenders have dairy. My son was super fussy and had diarrhea. Luckily it's lactose intolerance vs an allergy (my daughter has a cashew allergy) but I worry for other families who may have true allergies - they're getting incorrect information which could have serious consequences. Now again - I take the blame. I should have insisted on speaking to a manager but that was already poor customer service and I did send them a message on FB that they never bothered to respond to (messages attached). I would have at least thought they'd reply with a message like sorry that happened, next time ask for X the manager and I'll check the ingredients for you but nothing- radio silence after 4 days. So 3 stars. Food was good. We enjoyed the movie. But I spent $45 on food and tipped $9 to basically serve ourselves since we were eating in the theater only to have wrong information, a child in pain with bathroom issues and radio silence from their manager. We'd think about seeing a movie here again and I'd like to eat here (although I don't think there's actually anything my son can eat but I'm down with food hacking) but don't really trust their customer service at this point. read more

The concept of this bar and cinema is so cool! You can take your food and drinks into the theater and eat. I came here for brunch with some girlfriends this weekend but just for food and drinks, not to watch a movie. They have a limited brunch menu, but serve regular lunch menu as well. I'm a brunch food lover so definitely want them to get some more unique brunch items, and having a la carte where you can get a little of a few things would be great. I did try their waffle which was delicious and so cutely decorated with chocolate chips circled around it. You get some fresh fruit on top and raspberry sauce and can add honey and chocolate chips if you want! Of course I wanted! :) I also ordered the island chicken burger. It was very delicious with the pineapple salsa. My only complaint is that they need better buns for their sandwiches because it was really soggy. Especially since most of them have a ton of salsa or sauce. I think everyone said their buns were soggy. The one thing I really enjoyed were the fries! They are the perfect amount of crisp on the outside and a golden bake. They were so good I wish I had more! I think in general the proportions for the food are good for filling you up without feeling too full or having leftovers. All their burger and sandwich varieties sounded delicious so I do think you can find something you enjoy. They had a vegetarian burger as well. I definitely wanted to try the mimosa flight. It's just so Instagram-able and colorful. I like mimosas since they aren't too filling and strong. This was a way to have 4 flavors including the original with orange juice, pineapple, blueberry and strawberry. I liked the pineapple the best as it doesn't have the pulp and is a light taste so you can still taste a little of the champagne. They do need to get some bubblier champagne to use but for the price ($12 for the flight or $6/glass) I can't complain. One area of improvement is the size of the tables that are high tops.... That's where we were seated and although the slabs of marble/concrete look nice, they are not wide enough to have 2 people facing each other have enough room not to spill or keep bumping plates, etc.... I definitely needed there to be more space especially if you have a flight as well. They need to clear plates even quicker because of how small the table is. They have indoor and outdoor seating and. They also have an in between at the edge of the dining area that's inside but right next to the open area for some breeze without the heat :) If I came back, I'd want to try the spirits that they make since they distill their own stuff. I also want to try out the full cinema experience as well. It's been a while since I've seen a movie in theaters so I'm looking forward to going back. read more

Food is great, service is good, and the location is a great area. This place is next to Jungle Jim's in Batavia, Ohio and they are local owned and operated. Their food is mainly burgers and wings along other "pub related" dishes. They recently started serving breakfast however, I haven't tried it yet. The seating is very spacious inside the viewing area and is just comfortable in all aspects. My wife and I usually going between 11 and 4 for a couple of reasons. First, the tickets are about $7.50 each and the seating area is wide open most of the time during those hours. read more

I wish I could rate these spots separately. My husband and I tried RJ's for the first time last night. Which we explained to every staff member, as we were coming in, for direction. No one seemed to want to give extra help. Had to wing it. We absolutely loved the concept. The seating was great. My husband loved the space, rocking chairs, and tables. I loved all the room. Incredibly comfortable movie theatre. Our food, on the other hand. I'd heard good things and while some things were good. Nothing was 100%. I'm just glad I did not get a couple of big dinners. Or I am afraid we would have really been in for disappointment. Menus were dirty. The macaroni & cheese had a great flavor, but it was cold. I watched it come out of the kitchen. It didn't have time to get cold. The Brussel sprouts were a lot, lots of flavors mixed together, and not greatly, burnt tasting. Great blackberry BBQ sauce. Our chicken was a little too dark on the outside, a little light inside. We will absolutely be back. Next time we will remember to eat before we come. read more

Wasn't sure how a movie cinema could do good food, but they have a great thing going here! We go to RJ's for lunch a lot now. We all have our favorites- chicken wings are fantastic, burger is underrated and so good, and anything with their pork is great too. Their fries are good- taste like beer battered fries with the texture. We like their beer menu- and you absolutely cannot beat their prices for a pint. Service can sometimes be a little slow as they don't have a ton of staff, but they're always friendly, helpful and welcoming! It's a favorite of ours. Highly recommend this place! My first time at this cinema and all I can say is wow. Extremely repulsed by how dirty the facility is! Walked into theatre, smelled like paint and there's popcorn, empty drinks, and food trays all over the place. The butter machine for the popcorn also was out of order (shocker). At the drink station there was icee juice everywhere and no lids/straws for drinks. Then we went to get our food at the pick up area, and they made our order incorrect. Also- nobody even scans the tickets when you come in to make sure you actually bought a movie ticket and seat! A horrible experience and will not be back. read more

Stopped in on Friday night for their happy hour after another friend said they had great prices on craft beer on tap. It was beautiful Friday night and the front outside seating and the back outside seating was full, so took a table top seat by the front garage door where there was a breeze, it felt great to have a cool breeze going through the restaurant. We were given menus when we arrived, pints sold on Friday nights during their happy hour 5-9pm $2 from each pint are donated to local non-profit, which on this night was HealthSource Foundation. Daniel was our waiter, he was friendly asked us if we had any questions. He took our drink orders right away, 50 West was tonight's featured brewery. I selected the Chasing Sunsets, the seasonal Peach Ale, a fruity ale sounded just right on Friday night. My friend selected Something Light as she supports craft beer, but always asks what is the lightest beer you have, so Something Light hit the spot. We also decided to order appetizers, we went with the fried pickles and loaded fries. Our food came quickly, the fried pickles were hot right from the fryer and were delicious, you could tell were homemade, thickly cut and disappeared in no time. The loaded fries were okay, but not as hot out of the fryer as the pickles and could have a different cheese so it melts better on the fries. Daniel checked on us a few times, making sure we were okay and as we ordered an additional pint. Rick the owner stopped by to welcome us, asked us how everything was going and to thank us for our business. We also learned about their Sunday brunch and he's hoping to open the cinema soon, as soon as they receive the clear from the State of Ohio. We had a nice time at RJ's on Friday night and will return again. When you're in the Eastgate area, stop by RJ's Cinema Distillery and Taproom for great prices on drinks and friendly service. You can also order a large back of their popcorn to go as we saw several tables taking a bag home with them to enjoy. I was so excited to try RJ after seeing an article about it on Facebook about bourbon flights and a neat cinema experience. I hate leaving bad reviews right now because I know that staffing is low due to COVID and not being able to find staff. So this isnt based on staff its based on experience. I found that the experience was really confusing. I asked 3 workers what I was supposed to do and no one could really give me a clear answer on how to order food and drinks and when to go to the movie theatre to watch the movie. I didn't like that we had to time everything just right if we wanted to watch a movie and also eat. If we ordered too late then we would have to get up during the movie and eat in the dark. Too soon then we wouldn't be able to eat in the theatre and also sit down to eat because it was too crowded to sit down anywhere. So that was really confusing. Then there was 2 places to order food. One area if we didn't want an alcoholic beverage and another place if we did. Plus the line for the alcoholic beverages was very long and took a long time to place anything. It just got a little frustrating. We also had to go to the other line without alcohol to get popcorn and soda if we wanted it. The plus side of things is that the food was actually very delicious! We loved the fries and also the beer cheese loaded fries were so good we ate them all! Wish the experience was better but I think we will just go to a regular movie theatre. read more

This review is for the movie theater as I've never eaten at the restaurant or hung out at the bar. The theater experience is a little odd because you have to walk through the aforementioned dining/bar area to get to the movie concession counter and ticket sales. But once inside, this a comfortable, modern theater. Seats are roomy and comfortable, and there's a table in between every two for either your meal or movie snacks. Theaters are smallish, but unless you're seeing something right when it opens they usually aren't too crowded. So far I've only had popcorn and the drinks from the Coke Zero machine, but the food looks good and I hope to make it out for trivia night sometime. read more

First visit to the revamped space. The bar/dining area was set up nicely with plenty of space for small or large groups. Love the garage doors opened up to the Paradise Pavilion area. Nice selection of tv's will be great to watch sports. We weren't real hungry just looking to grab a couple drinks and pass the time. We did order few bites which were pretty good. Little pricey for the quantity but drinks were lower priced than the avg bar. Missed hearing music playing as without it, it was just kind of quiet. There weren't many patrons there that night. We did not see a movie as I'm spoiled by the other theaters with recliners and chair-side service. I had visited the old theater that was there and have been told the chairs and tables are the same...big letdown because that set up was awful. So...I hope this place can survive as the movie theater part will definitely have tough time competing even with Milford that has brand new comfy seating. I would go back, especially if I was meeting friends. Close to home. Nice environment. Hopefully they get some music going. read more
