We arrived at 6p to an average evening crowd and were quoted 30 minutes to get a table. It ended up taking 60 minutes. Further, we then waited about 15-20 minutes for a server to greet us. Multiple times we were told about issues with the kitchen and how everyone was having to slow service and tables because the kitchen couldn't handle it. We looked around and by the time we sat down after 7p half the restaurant was empty! We finally got (some) of our food around 8p which was a bizarre mix of appetizers and entrees that were very lukewarm. The presentation and concept is great and we really enjoyed the beers. However, the SERVICE and operational management of this place was running like a restaurant just opened last week or something out of 'Bar Rescue'. Not sure we would want to go back...

From the outside it really looks unassuming and maybe even a little sketchy. Its kind of an odd concept since it technically is a gas station convenience store. But hey, we live in Ohio where there are *drive thru beer* joints. Oh what an age we live in. I ventured inside recently while waiting for a food truck order (they often host these here). Upon entering there is the smell of pretzel, which they are apparently also famous for. I'll have to come back and be the judge of that another time when I didn't already order food. I was instantly greeted by the bartender. I chose to browse around for a bit, and he was great at answering any questions I had. One of the ltd release beers I found was also on tap, so he let me try it first! So they have pre packaged cans, bottles, and 40oz. Most of it is in coolers. They also have a ton of beer on tap that can be consumed there, or taken home in growlers (hence the store name). There is a large bar with seating and various indoor tables. For the nicer weather, there are also outdoor tables. Because the store is next to a dog park they even offer Fido's Freezzys dog ice cream. You will have to ask for it because they keep it behind the counter. I'm not sure how this has changed recently but they do fun Trivia nights among other events. Don't sleep on this unique place if you are a lover of the craft brew!

The beer list included a number of "somewhat out there" fruit beers along side a smaller number of more traditional styles. That's fine. I had an IPA, and it was generally good. Kind of in the midwestern style with some caramel malt. In terms of the food, I really just ordered a salad. It was good. It was nice to have the option to order a substantial salad and feel like it was a meal. In terms of service, it seemed like everything behind the bar was hectic. There were several different people, but it wasn't clear who was responsible for taking my order or closing my tab. It was just hard to get anyone's attention. All told, this was fine. And even fun.
