Very…read moreearly on, Steve and Darlene put us at ease with the level of care and attention provided through our communications. Even though we had no familiarity with the process of having a home built, we felt informed and empowered during the entire process. Any trepidation that my wife and I had at the start of the process was quickly replaced with confidence and sheer excitement because of the level of customer service provided. Further to the customer service, the craftsmanship of the home was fantastic! The quality of work, materials and presentation created a home that surpassed our expectations. We are filled with awe and pride to be owners of such a beautiful, high quality home. A big thank you to all of the people at hunt homes that made our dreams a reality. I highly recommend Steve Hunt and the Hunt Homes team to anyone looking to own a high quality home that they can be proud of.

I have been debating posting this review for a few days now but I feel like this is necessary due…read moreto the amount of issues and stress we are currently dealing with. When you build a brand new home, issues are expected but we feel that we had to deal with an excessive amount of fairly large problems. Many of these problems could have been avoided had the parties involved had paid more attention to detail to ensure things were done correctly. Our issues began pretty much from day one. We were originally told that our deposit was due in two payments (one right when you go firm and the second 3 months before closing). This was incorrect and the second installment was actually due three months after the first (making that payment due 4 months earlier). When we were signing our paperwork, my husband's legal name was spelled incorrectly throughout all of the documents and the fee for the premium lot was actually missing (we were the ones who noticed and pointed that out). It was a bit alarming that the people selling these homes were making these mistakes, but we just assumed these were small mix ups and didn't think much of it. However, after everything was signed and we were legally firm, we discovered that the lot we chose (which was the reason for buying this home) actually had a sewer grate and easement on it. We were never notified of this and were actually told that the easement and sewer were on the lot beside it (there was also no mention of an easement in our contract). Because we were already firm, our only option was to hope the sewer wouldn't affect anything or chose another lot that we didn't like as much as the original. Hunt did allow us to change lots (which we were grateful for), but again we were disappointed about losing the lot we primarily purchased the home for. We continued to have issues once the house was built. Our custom built oven hood was installed incorrectly and had to eventually be modified to fit the space it was supposed to be in. There was also a miscommunication regarding the $850 stain we chose for our garage door. We had wanted our front door and garage doors to match and they are total opposites. We are now forced to spend even more money to either have it painted or the door changed completely. The worst issue of all has been that our beautiful white granite (that we paid extra to upgrade for) had five large yellow and green stains all around the parameter. No one will come forward to admit what it was stained with, so we don't know if it was something like coffee or a potentially harmful chemical that is now seeped into the countertops that we frequently touch, prepare food, etc. Castlestone has been excellent about trying to remove the stains, however this process has been going on for a week and a half with no end in sight (due to the stains being stubborn). It is very disappointing to be in your brand new home with multiple areas of your countertops you can't use and the stress of not knowing if you will have to live with having stained granite or if your kitchen has to be ripped apart so they can be completely changed. The granite technicians are also fairly certain that whatever stained this sat on the counter in multiple areas for days or weeks and no one bothered to wipe it up or notify anyone. It is very sad that people were aware of this but chose to ignore it and we discovered it during our PDI. There were additional smaller things that were acceptable problems and Hunt has fixed them promptly. Our home is beautiful and well built however at this price point we should have never had to deal with these things. It is heartbreaking to continuously be disappointed every time you would come to see the progress of your brand new house to discover that something else was wrong, installed incorrectly or outright damaged. Like I said, we are living here now and are still dealing with these issues. What should have been a happy and exciting experience has been stressful and disappointing. I have yet to determine if this was worth it.

    Coops Construction - kitchen design

We hired Coops for a large scale job on our home. The…read morecarpentry and finishing work was impeccable, Corey was super professional and seemingly a perfectionist with his work. However every other aspect of the project did not go so well. Every sub-trade they hired made a complete mess of the job - and not always with full accountability from Coops on rectifying the situations (even through their 'warranty' says they will). Electricians cut wrong wires, plumbers installed cracked valves which flooded the adjacent finished room (we had to clean and remedy, they did not), HVAC people couldn't tell us how to operate their heat pump, co-op student painted half a wrong wall (it's still currently half painted a year later), excavation company damaged our concrete walkways (they re-poured it after we fought pretty hard for it to be fixed), the smoke detector they installed was faulty (which we just found out the hardway... He had told the inspector not to test it bc we had a baby!) ... and the list goes on! The project manager did not meet the hired trades people onsite. We often unexpectedly had to let them in and walked them through. He mustn't have quoted properly, because there were constant change orders to add to the final bill (for things we assumed were included - i.e. basic door handles, flooring, paint on the doors, etc... nothing unexpected) What started out with promise and positivity, did not end as well. It took about 3X longer than promised, with no real apparent reasons for delays. There were people here almost everyday.. maybe poor work-back scheduling? Or just over-promising?

Completely 100% unprofessional, unreliable, and I was sorry I ever had them come to my home. What I…read moreneeded to have done was to have a door replaced. I had had a break in and they damaged my door. It was a French door window was in it, and beside it was a window that looked like a door. I told him I wanted the door to be exactly the same as my original door, since my house is only four years old, they told me it would be custom-made well the door came. It was laid about two months later and it didn't fit so I was very disappointed that they seem to not be able to measure correctly so I wanted a refund of my down payment and I wanted to move on to someone else, but they refused to let me do that, so I was trapped into waiting another over two months because it was delayed For another door and then they told me it was because my it was my fault because I wanted mini blinds in the door, the same as what I had before and also because I wanted it as soon as possible and that didn't make any sense to me so I had to wait another two months or more because it was delayed for another door and the second door did not fit either. They did not measure properly. The other door also was not by any means custom-made to match the door that I had originally it had smaller windows they were more narrow by approximately 2 inches and it's at a different threshold and it's not the same door. It's not a custom-made door when I brought that up they told me custom has different meanings. Well, I know people go through customs to go into the United States for example, but that's not what that was supposed to mean so I am completely 100% not recommending coops construction under any circumstances I'm telling you you will regret it.
