After waiting 28 minutes on hold and after telling the person who answered who my eye Doctor, what was happening to my eye, and that my PCP said I need to get it checked asap I was told they are scheduling for August and September (6&7 months later). I told this lady that I didn't think this was what why PCP meant by asap. She said that my PCP should send a referral and then maybe we can get you in in a month or so. I understand that health care today is stretched but on my eye Doctor's web page for the practice it says " accepting new patients ". Maybe you should take care of your current patients and if your so busy you can't see them in a reasonable time, then you should not be taking on new patients. I will be finding a new eye Doctor.

He not only knew more than anyone else I had seen, but he also could recognize what he didn't know, and he found out on his own and got back to me. I literally had five different diagnosis from five different doctors. My illness was confusing, and he was the only one to correctly predict what I was going to experience as time went on, and how to deal with (and cure) what I had despite the lack of tests to verifiably diagnose me. He noticed within moments what no other doctor had the insight to detect. 2. Bedside manner: fantastic. I was extremely comfortable. I felt taken care of and respected. He didn't ever oversimplify or dumb down his diagnosis. He was clear, honest, and helpful in describing what he saw honestly and completely and without unnecessary lingo. He made everything extremely easy on me (He partly filled out forms for me so I didn't have to figure it out and he mailed them to me at my apartment (name, type of care etc). It was incredible how caring and how important it was to me!) They really made a great effort to make you comfortable, and give you mental ease while you're sick. 3. Wait time: Above and beyond. I always came in in the morning if I had an appointment, but there were times when I was sick with a fever and just called in hoping to see someone sometime that day. They always got me in right away with maybe a 10 minute wait! It was fantastic. I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Goldstein! I am super hard to please and kinda critical in general, but that is especially true when I'm sick. Dr. Goldstein was fantastic. I never had to worry about anything from billing to accurate information to staff remembering my history, to paperwork, to general caring atmosphere, and most of all I had confidence finally that he knew his stuff, and I was going to get well after quite a lot of searching!! My highest recommendation goes to him!

Now on to the review: The first time I went to his office I waited for hours, as they were so far behind schedule and my appointment was still mid morning. He did take the time to send me for the tests I necessary; nevertheless, he was unable to diagnose what my particular problem was. He was actually baffled. As the other Yelper indicated, he did not issue and Rx unnecessarily, which is always appreciated and he okayed my to fly. He scheduled a follow-up appointment and sent me for repeat tests, same results and still no idea of what the problem with me ears is. "We", and I say we, because I have been looking for answers as well, have looked into drug interactions and other factors and have been unable to come up with anything. Yet, the problem persists. Mass Eye and Ear, of all places, doesn't understand accessibility and accommodations for people…read morewith vision and language disabilities. They have a page on their website that says they can provide communication in required formats for people with disabilities, but none of their staff are aware that the law requires this. The webpage saying they provide accessible communication only has a phone number to contact them. It has one e-mail address, but that is for requesting interpreter services, not for general e-mail correspondence from people who need to contact the clinic via text. The website says to use the portal to schedule appointments for patients who are already registered, but the portal is set up so there is no way to request an appointment unless already seen recently by that department. The Patient Relations office has no idea that the ADA exists and told the person to find an abled person to make a voice call for them. The nurses in the departments don't understand what large print is and several of them have provided a legally blind multiply disabled person with handwritten illegible instructions, stating they don't know how where they would type and print instructions to give the person. Their solution was also "can't an abled person just redo it?"

He seemed like a decent doctor. However, my parting experiences with him and his office have been nothing short of a complete and total nightmare. His office assistants were rude, disorganized, inconsistent, and worst of all, LIARS. For multiple visits, I saw Dr. Stern and was reassured by his office workers that he was covered under my insurance and happily took my copay at every visit. Soon after graduating, I receive a massive bill. Wouldn't you know it, he never took my insurance! Not only that, none of my copays were deducted from, or reflected on, the bill. I've been fighting with their billing department for over a year now to dispute this as I was blatantly lied to by his office. Ive tried on multiple occasions to contact his office only to either be hung up on or no one answers the phone (likely screening the calls since multiple grouchy women work there). As you can guess, no one has ever taken the time or courtesy of returning my messages. What a way to treat a college student who had barely enough money to buy food from the cafeteria.

What creditials can't give you, however, is patient care. My experience with the front desk/administrative staff, the nurses, the other doctors I interacted with (it's a learning hospital) and Dr. Gray herself has been beyond exceptional. The front desk staff (especially Sam) has gone beyond all expectations to make certain that I was prepared for the appointment, had all the answers to any questions I may have had, and even went through great lengths to assist me in scheduling an appointment with another specialist Dr. Gray referred me to who had a notoriously difficult front staff and who I was especially frustrated with. The remainder of the administrative staff was also friendly and helpful, from receptionist to billing. Dr. Gray herself was friendly and informative. She took the time to explain each test she was doing and why it was needed and, although, ultimately, my problem does not lie in Dr. Gray's arena to be resolved (hence the referral), she was helpful in ruling out potential causes and helping me understand what the next steps would be. I cannot recommend highly enough Dr. Gray and her associates.

Basically yelling at me over the phone. Front desk staff are a critical component of any healthcare, as they're the first person you see and can set the tone for the rest of the appointment. I would never want someone like her to be in charge of issues like appointments, who to talk to about bills, etc. Absolutely horrendous experience. Plus each time I've come, I've had to wait upwards of at least half an hour to an hour before being seen.

Now I understand that he is the gatekeeper of the practice, and one must attempt to get through him in order to get to a provider. There are certain types of support staff who do not belong in healthcare, especially because when a patient is calling a doctor's office, it is usually not because they are having an amazing day and are looking for a sound board for their exhilaration.
