He worked with me for a year after my exhaustive battle with self-representation. In one of our final phone calls, my lawyer gently said to me that he calculated the hours as $11,000 worth of hours spent on my case, but he's only going to take 6. I dunno why he did that! I just keep thinking he must have know I was telling the truth. Why else? I've never heard of a lawyer doing that. 11K is about 30 hours of work. And that's not even close to the reality of how much time this man spent; this man spent loads of hours (LOADS) on the phone explaining the laws, ways, means and providing stratrgic advice to me...and that was just the phone calls. I gave him hundreds - if not honestly about 1000 pages of research, emails and documents to comb through. This man: 30 hours??? No, not even close. How can I possibly express what he has done over the course of 1 year? To this day, I've never had the honor of meeting Mr Stern. I'm not even sure of what he look like. But dear God I hope that every bit of the blessings he has just given to me - by giving me a chance to be financially stable, a fresh start in life - I pray to God it's returned to him in full. Jesse Stern, you are among the incomparable - thank you for helping me protect and receive my inheritance. You truly are a gift sent from heaven above. I know it sound corny - but there is no doubt in my mind that it's true.

He was very flexible in allowing me to decide how to communicate - through phone, email, or office meeting. After asking a few questions to make sure he could help, I opted for an office meeting. I know that many attorneys have a reputation for being assertive and pushy in order to gain clients but that is not the case with Mr. Miller. He simply shares his knowledge and expertise and he has developed a wonderful balance of listening vs talking in order to develop the best course of action for each situation. This situation could have absolutely ruined my entire life moving forward. The outcome of the charges I faced could have permanently affected my career, personal life and long term mental health. I had the free conference with Mr. Lippman regarding a landlort/tenant issue. All he did was cut…read moredown everything I was saying. This is a firm that appears to have NO interest in helping anyone, totally negative, when I know different. He turned everything around to put the blame on me and not the landlord. His answer was "just move!" Like it's that easy to do that! The landlord was deceptive in renting an RV lot to me, that never should have been rented in the first place, due to code violations that was never disclosed until Code Enforcement came calling. But that was all okay with Mr. Lippman! DO NOT BOTHER with this firm. They are a waste of time. I worked in law offices for 34 years, and never have I seen a potential client being treated as I was treated here. Mr. Lippman has left the typical response....that's the only excuse he had for his behavior. I already had another attorney who had a different opinion... Lippman couldn't be bothered. I cannot recommend anything about this firm when they won't listen to you and when they make you repeat the same things over and over.

For the next two months my fiance and I barely received updates, despite the law firm agreeing to weekly calls with my fiance, since I could not call from the jail. Furthermore, the attorney on the case seemed very disinterested in the outcome of the case. Instead of providing me with the legal council he was hired to provide, he essentially shrugged and told me "whatever you want to do". Ultimately that law firm was fired and after receiving a referral from someone else in the jail, we retained Michelle. Despite hiring her on a Friday and with a hearing scheduled for the following Tuesday, Michelle dove head first into the case, gathering all the information she had access to until she became the attorney of record. She set up a video visit with me on Monday, then saw me in person on Tuesday after the hearing. Not only was I able to call her from the jail, she stayed in constant contact with my fiance, providing her with frequent updates. She hounded the State Attorney, who has a reputation of being unreasonable, until she received a response. Michelle made multiple legal challenges regarding my violations, all of which the State Attorney conceded too. The State Attorney, while refusing to agree to a plea, did agree to not argue against reinstatement if I open plea to the judge and admitted to the remaining 2 violations (She got 1 dropped). At the next hearing, Michelle utilized her decades of experience in court rooms and dealing with judges to read the room, so to speak, and decided to throw a hail mary. Michelle, instead of pushing for the Judge to reinstate me, which the State wasn't going to argue against, (I was facing a possible max of 5 years in prison), Michelle asked the Judge for early termination. I had completed 8.5 of 10 years of probation, had all court fees paid off, was up to date on my monitoring fees, had completed treatment and had no violations prior to these. Even though the best possible outcome in my mind was early termination, my fiance and I were not expecting termination, but, the Judge ruled that my probation be revoked and terminated, eliminating my last 18 months of probation. The saying used to be "You get what you pay for", it is definitely true on this case. While Michelle is not the cheapest attorney around, she was worth every penny. Had it not been for her, and had I kept my first attorney, it is very likely that I would have ended up going to prison, but because of her, I can enjoy life without the burden of an ankle monitor or a curfew. My fiance and I are able to do things we couldn't do before, and that is because of Michelle. We can't thank her enough, and God forbid I ever need another attorney in the future, she's the only person I'll call.
