When I found out Dr. Zaglin was retiring, I felt like he broke up with me . I'm not going to lie - but I shed a few tears and my kids were just as sad. Dr. Zaglin is the best of the best. 7 years ago when I was pregnant with my first, he called me on a weekend to discuss his style and totally made me feel at ease. When my baby was born and we were discharged he called to check on us and he hadn't even met us yet! After our first appt he called us every day the whole weekend. I was sad to hear that he was retiring but so happy to hear he was starting his new phase in life, as he deserves it. 5 years ago, I was a first time mom and he took my newborn in as a patient and I couldn't have been luckier. Our son is so lucky to have Dr. Zaglin in his life. Less than a month ago he even told me "he missed Dr. Zaglin" because now that he is older we don't see him that much anymore. We moved when our son was 2 years old to be closer to his preschool, that is when we met Dr. Zaglin. Now that we moved again to be closer to his Kindergarten we never even considered changing Pediatricians and are gladly driving from the City. Dr. Zaglin is very personable and genuinely cares about our child. He is very gentle and has ways to make the most uncomfortable exams bearable. He has called after hours many times to follow up about a visit or when he felt we were concerned. He has referred us to great specialists when we needed it. The only regret - but it is throughout the whole Sutter Health network - is that the appointment feels rushed. I could spend 1 hour talking to him, but you need to stay focused about the purpose of the visit. Frankly, we are dreading the day he will retire. read more

Just like almost everything else....I luckily found Dr. Zaglin on Yelp. I needed to "interview" pediatricians for my newborn son and wanted only the best of course! After reading all the great reviews on Bay Area Pediatricians and finding Dr. Zaglin, I knew I had to give him a call. He spent over 20 mins on the phone with me, answering all the questions that a new parent like myself would ask. He also mentioned that he is a professor at UCSF and trains other pediatricians. What a big plus!!! I was so eager to meet him. When we finally met Dr. Zaglin, we were thoroughly impressed. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and great with our baby. We love Dr. Zaglin! Isn't that how most of his reviews start off? My daughter is 3.5 years old, and we've been going to him since she was about 18-months. We switched from Kaiser which was a series of unfortunate events until we finally found a pediatrician that we liked. Alas, our company was forcing everyone from Kaiser to Blue Shield and thus our rocky search for a pediatrician began yet again. We're a little weird and needed a pediatrician who wasn't going to judge us for our delayed vaccination schedule choices. We also wanted someone who was going to be personable, warm and receptive to our family. After 3 failed attempts to find a good pediatrician we hit gold when we came across Dr. Zaglin, if almost by sheer luck! I always try to make it a point that my husband go in with me for our daughter's visits, and I know that it brings Dr. Zaglin great joy to see the father having an active role in the child's well-being, as the waiting room is usually filled with just mothers. He will involve my husband with discussions about my daughter's care and will have him hold my daughter during the examination. He's caring and kind and will not rush us during our appointments always making sure all of our questions are asked and asking questions of his own, making it feel like he really is happy to provide care to my daughter. I almost didn't want to write this review because he's like our little special secret, but I am glad I did because he's really an outstanding doctor! read more

We've been pleased with the care and attention Dr. Zaglin gives us at each of our well baby appointments. While I was pregnant, he came highly recommended from several sources, most of them unsolicited recommendation- that says something! As any new parent knows, you'll be in the pediatricians office more than half a dozen times in your baby's first year, and that's if they are well. Dr. Z gives us his full attention without the feeling of being rushed, and gives thorough and well researched answers to our questions. Very positive experience so far! read more

Words cannot express how much we love Dr. Zaglin. He has been in our family for almost 25 years. My husband saw him as an infant and now our daughter is seeing him too. He is very genuine about patient care, and takes the time to talk to you and find out what's really going on. When she was born he made sure the room was heated and that she was comfortable. I was impressed when he sat down and talked to her and tried to make her feel comfortable with him. I also loved that he was thorough and made sure to answer any question that we had. His staff was also wonderful. Loraine is always welcoming and even remembers our name and our daughter as we come in and even on the phone. Now that's customer service with a smile. I also like how they give us time to think about the best time to come in next. You know we LOVE to see Dr. Zaglin because we haul our daughter from way across the bay bridge from Hercules just to see him. I was very nervous about switching my toddler at 18 months to a new doctor, but I hated Kaiser. My aunt recommended Dr. Zaglin as he treats my teenage cousin and she loves him. I have to say, I do, too. It's honestly like night and day between Dr. Z and our former pediatrician at Kaiser. My daughter was very anxious and cried the first visit-- but Dr. Z knew just what to do to make her calm down. He took the time to get to know her and made her comfortable enough with him that by the second visit she was asking him for stickers. I'm one of those moms who calls the Dr. For everything-- from fevers and rashes to development milestones and nutrition. Dr. Z has always given me excellent professional advice in a way that makes me feel like he truly cares for my daughter's overall well being and development. At kaiser I felt like cattle being herded with the rest of them. Like S H., I'm writing as someone who wishes they could return to being his patient. I'm 24 years old and have been with Dr. Zaglin since birth. My medical records come in volumes but because of his skill and compassion I am a happy and healthy adult today. He really listens to people and his dedication to his patients and their families is apparent. My mum's a nurse and a tough lady, but she told me years later that without him she probably would have had a breakdown. I went to college across the country and within months had a pain in my upper chest. I went to my school's hospital, they made me wait for an hour, didn't know what was wrong, and told me to come back if it got worse. Not knowing what to do, I called Dr. Zaglin and in less than 3 minutes, he knew what it was, told me what to do, and sent me on my merry way. One of the reasons I want to be a doctor is him. All three of my daughters grew up under the loving care of Dr Z, Tammy, & Melissa. I can give you a millions reasons why as a physician he is wonderful. But instead I will tell you that he & Tammy came to my oldest daughter's High School graduation in the pouring rain....he was smiling even though he was drenched. How every time she was hospitalized he was there for her. How he was there when she passed away at 21 years old and he comforted us when there was no comfort. How he helped my ailing dad (her grandpa) walk through the cemetery as we laid her to rest....but most of all how much Mariko loved Dr Zaglin, Tammy, & Melissa. God Bless them always. read more

Dr. Zaglin is great if you're ok with his overconfident misstatements of fact and you would never even consider questioning his judgement. He made several incorrect statements to me and was quite dismissive while providing me with medical advice that was in direct conflict with information provided by his partners in the same practice-- likely because he was unaware I had asked the same question of his partners. He also generally spends more time pontificating than listening, and therefore fails to understand the situation in its entirety before responding. The office overall is well run and can get you in quickly to see a doctor, but I would see one of his partners. read more

I should precede this review by admitting that I am now 23-years old, and have not been a patient of Dr. Zaglin's since I reluctantly kissed childhood goodbye. Still, I was a patient of his from birth until I moved away to college, and I am forever grateful that I had such an attentive, wise, experienced, and kind pediatrician to see through all the physical and mental growing pains. I recall his complete dedication to patients-- he went to bat for me multiple times with my insurance company to help me get coverage for procedures that were very important for my own well-being, but which I should point out-- provided him no monetary incentive. He always remembered little things about me (like which stickers I liked), and would jokingly feed into my sibling rivalry with my older sister, also a long-time patient of his. Not only do I remember Dr. Zaglin as gentle, fun, and a caring doctor who is fully committed to his patients, but he's also just a very knowledgeable and genuinely a really GOOD doctor. He always immediately (almost intuitively) knew what different problems I was suffering from and always knew exactly what course of action to take. The example that immediately springs to mind occurred when I was 13 years old. I woke up one morning with a weird, apparent rash on my leg, but didn't think much of it. My mother told me not to scratch and I heeded her advice. Yet the next day the rash had expanded, and looked almost infected with puss oozing out of it. Dr. Zaglin wasn't in the office that day, so I saw a different doctor instead (I'll leave the other docs names out of it.... I had them a few other times throughout the years and they were always perfectly competent. This story is more about his success rather than their failures). This 1st doctor said it was some kind of allergic reaction most likely, and we took necessary precautions based on that advice. But over the next two days it grew larger and more disgusting, at which point we returned. I had a different doctor that time (still no Zaglin), and doctor #2 immediately diagnosed me with an infection, gave me a shot on the rear and sent me on my way. She insisted it would go down following the shot but just in case, drew a circle surrounding the area so we could see if it was going down as promised. I woke up the next morning to the weird thing having expanded almost two-fold, and it now took up 2/3 of my thigh. Again, back to the doctor, and we were directed to doctor #1 again. She seemed dumbfounded by the way it had progressed, and the substance oozing out of it. Finally, she acknowledged that she had no idea what it was and went and pulled Dr. Zaglin away between patients to check it out. As he was entering the room, before he even got close up he immediately knew that it was a brown recluse bite, and pointed out to the other doctor all of the tell-tale signs of this rare, but potentially deadly spider bite. Then he proceeded to prescribe me with the antihistamines needed to prevent the bite from worsening. If it had gone undiagnosed much longer-- the poison could have very well entered my bloodstream, which is when such a bite becomes fatal. An unnecessarily long story, I'm sure-- but I think it perfectly illustrates what a superior doctor Zaglin is and I'm sure remains. If only I could have stayed a kid forever! No doctor I've found since has come close to the first doctor I was lucky enough to have. In fact, I adored Dr. Zaglin so much that I almost wish I could pop out a baby myself just to have an excuse to go back!! Kidding.... mostly. :-) read more

Dr Zaglin was my pediatrician and am proud to say he is my son's as well. I agree with all the 5 star reviews out there. Being a nurse, I am more particular about customer service, professionalism, being knowledgeable, and giving respect. I can definitely say Dr Zaglin has all of the above. Being in the medical field, I can also say that just because someone is professional or treats their patients well, does not mean they are good doctors. I feel very comfortable in addressing all my issues with him and am very pleased with all the care my 3 month son has gotten so far. Since my son's dermatitis and eczema have been flaring up, Dr Zaglin has been able to accomodate more frequent care for us. He is very passionate yet knowledgeable and sets the bar high for other pediatricians. read more

Dr. Zaglin is a wonderful doctor. He always puts my son at ease and he doesn't talk down to you like many other doctors do. Dr. Zaglin also practices progressive medicine. My son had ongoing ear infections which his old doctor just kept giving him the standard antibiotics. Dr. Zaglin cited a study done at Stanford and put my son on a course of sulfur drugs. Very friendly and professional pediatrician. We have been seeing him since my son was a newborn, he is now 6 months old. He has always been positive and explained everything to us new parents. Always includes me and my husband in the visits. Explains what we should expect in the coming months. Really makes us feel at ease. He is great! Some of his recommendations are slightly traditional (ie. recommended starting cereals at 4 months old, the AAP recommends starting at 6 months; but I think many parents and MDs start around 4 months). But still very safe and very very knowledgable. Front office staff is pretty efficient. I have no complaints. One great plus about this office is that you can see their lactation nurse. I was having trouble breastfeeding with my newborn and this group has a lactation nurse that you can see, and it would be covered under insurance, just pay your regular copay. The lactation nurse is located in their San Mateo office and she was knowledgeable and very supportive. There are no other pediatric offices in this area that staffs a lactation nurse. read more

Dr. Zaglin has been so wonderful with my son from birth to almost his 1 year point coming up. As new parents, we wanted to find the best doctor for our son, so we had meet and greets with quite a few. We were recommended by my OBGYN, Dr. Hamilton. As a woman and now mommy, who is naturally pretty anxious, I prefer the non-alarmist physicians who ease you into information and keep you relaxed for your entire visit. Dr. Zaglin is exactly that and always has my son smiling every visit. The waiting rooms are very spacious and there is a designated area just for newborns! So clutch. We just had our first visit with Dr. Zaglin and it was so great! For context, my husband and I had a planned homebirth and my husband actually delivered our daughter just the two of us, so in some ways we're as granola as it gets. I was concerned about the whiplash of switching from midwifery care to a "normal" pediatrician. I'm so thankful we chose Dr. Zaglin! Some details: * he apologized for being late, but he wasn't really late considering he was covering for another doctor who was out sick. I've waited much longer for most of my medical appointments. * in his office on Southgate, they have designated rooms where babies can wait and be examined that are separated from the sick kids. Brilliant! I SO appreciated this consideration. * he was really gentle with my daughter and respectful of me and my mother-in-law. * he took lots of time to answer our questions thoroughly. I didn't feel rushed at all. * to remedy an issue we're experiencing, he suggested Chamomile tea mixed with breastmilk, rather than a pharmaceutical * Dr. Zaglin was open to our alternate vaccine schedule * he administered the immunization injection himself, which I really appreciated. My baby barely cried at all. * he asked me to call in a week to follow up on a question I had, which I appreciated because if we can solve something over the phone rather than another visit, that's great! The only drawback is that it takes a few days to get an appointment. But in my opinion, welcome to the Bay Area. If you're good, you're in demand. read more
