After reading Robert Silver's reviews I really wanted to use him, so I got in touch and made an appointment for some head shots. The morning of the day of my appt with him I awoke to something on my face (I'll spare you the gory details) that made me not want to get in front of a camera, so I contacted Robert immediately to reschedule the appointment. He had plenty of notice so it wasn't last second or anything, to my surprise he replied letting me know that he'd have to charge me a penalty for rescheduling the appointment due to some unknown affliction totally out of my control. I get it, cancellations and rescheduling are a pain but I deal with it in my line of business and would never consider punishing a customer for something like this. Frankly it was quite a turn off, and having your picture photographed is an intimate experience, so I replied and let him know that I'd like to simply cancel and have my deposit refunded since he would not be providing any service to me. To my shock he let me know that he wouldn't refund my deposit despite not providing any product or service to me, and spending only minutes scheduling my original appointment. Robert may be a good photographer, but he seriously lacks customer service skills. I have since taken the situation up with my credit card company and they'll be refunding my money (forcefully unfortunately). I'm giving 2 stars as I'm sure Robert is a great photographer, and you may have a better experience than I did, but I would seriously caution using anyone who wants to take a payment for not providing any product or service, and I'm sure there are many more considerate photographers out there with equal skills behind the camera. Buyer beware here. read more

He was one of my first photo shoots and he made me feel very cool and at ease during our fashion shoot, so much so that we've collabed again since. He reached out to me asking to "collab" on a shoot. He even asked me to do implied nudes. During the shoot I asked more than once how we would go about my receiving the edited shots, giving him plenty of opportunity to discuss pricing with me, but he never did. I paid because I understand that in some respect he is a professional and needs to make a living, however if the photographer is the one reaching out to the model asking to shoot and asking for implied nudes, they need to discuss price first thing if they intend on charging them. I talked to multiple other photographers (with far more experience than Robert) to ask if i was in the wrong, and they all confirmed that what he did was very unprofessional, borderline manipulative. read more

Robert did my maternity photo shoot at Lands End/ Ocean Beach and I couldn't be more satisfied. He contacted me within 30 minutes of receiving my email. That was huge for me because several photographers never got back to me at all or took several days to respond. Robert was very accommodating with my schedule and location. We communicated here and there up until my shoot about my dress choice/color and even the weather. He kept an eye out for rain and was fully prepared to reschedule for another date. I lucked out after 7 days of straight rain to get a sunny gorgeous, clear day. He arrived super early to scope out the area and had a vision and ran with it.
