I had a really great photoshoot with Lisa and Arabella. Lisa called me a few days prior to our shoot and asked me what I was aiming for so that she could best help prepare me for our shoot. The day of our shoot I brought clothing options and Lisa helped me pick out the best outfits to shoot in. Arabella did my makeup. Both Lisa and Arabella were so supportive and made me feel comfortable and confident during the shoot. After scheduling your appointment, she sends you a link to help you to choose colors for your outfits that will work best for commercial and theatrical looks. Lisa is also great about replying to messages if you have any question before the shoot. She is also great about returning calls in a timely manner. In regards to working with her on the day of the shoot, she makes you feel at ease from the very beginning. From helping you to find your parking space in the studio's parking garage to offering you cold bottles of water upon arrival, her hospitality is amazing! She has such a warm aura about her; even though it was the first time we worked together, I felt like I was visiting my best friend; we immediately bonded. The same goes for her makeup artist, Arabella is amazing! The two of them are basically your best friends for the day along with Lisa's dog, Star (he's so sweet). When you come prepared with different wardrobe options for each look, Lisa helps you to narrow it down and you don't feel rushed at all. With each look that you shoot, Lisa shows you some images from her camera so you can immediately see what she is capturing through her lens. I had really high hopes for my photo session but ended up feeling like I wasted $500. I had never done a photo shoot before and needed some headshots for my first audition. The online booking process was slightly glitchy, but no big deal. At the time, there were discrepancies in the address and the confirmation email sent confusing information. I called to verify and Lisa called me back to not only answer my question, but also to discuss the shoot. This was a nice gesture and I was very satisfied and left feeling confident things would go well. I had no trouble finding the place and Lisa's assistant/make up artist, Cora (who I loved), came down to greet me and show me where to park. Both were incredibly friendly and helped me decide which outfits would work best for the shoot. Cora did makeup, and allowed me to give some feedback. We did a test shot. I didn't like it so we changed it. This is where is went downhill. There was no second test shot. Instead, Lisa launched into the shoot. She gave some direction, and kept saying "great!" Etc. And then at some point she made a comment that proved she had completely forgotten this was my first time. There was barely any change in my posing throughout, only changes in the background and my outfits. She did not evoke much expression from me but continued to encourage me that it was going well and that we were almost done. I wasn't in a hurry, but it seemed like she was. I realize it's not totally on Lisa to get me to express, but since it was my first time and her feedback continued to be positive, I figured things were going well. I left feeling like it went well. Unfortunately when I received my shots, I didn't find any of them to be usable. The angle is unflattering (and she said she uses this angle only because it's what directors need, despite evidence to the contrary as seen in the headshots portfolios of many big Broadway names in NYC), there is almost no variation of expression in the entire portfolio, the lighting washes me out, and in many of the shots my whole head doesn't even fit in the frame. Thankfully she had agreed to expedite getting my shots to me (which I appreciate), which meant that I had time to find a solution. I emailed her to let her know I wasn't satisfied. I wasn't really expecting anything in return, but just wanted to provide feedback. I would have left it at that but she got defensive in her replies, first trying to blame the printing (I didn't print), and ultimately ending up blaming me for my lack of experience saying "you get what you put in." I ended up using a selfie I took in the bathroom and touching it up myself. I got a callback with that. For free. So maybe if you're experienced with shoots and naturally photogenic, you will have a good experience with her, but I can't recommend her for first timers. Unless you like blowing $500 on nothing. read more

This review is long overdue, but I must share my amazing experience with Lisa! Firstly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my headshots! It was my first time ever getting headshots, so I was really nervous and a little intimidated, but it was one of the most relaxing and fun experiences I have ever had. Lisa and the makeup artist, Arabella, made me feel so beautiful and comfortable. When I saw myself in the mirror after Arabella finished my makeup, I couldn't believe it was me. When Lisa showed me the photos she took, I DEFINITELY couldn't believe it was me. Lisa is super professional, creative and knows what will work for you in regards to backgrounds and lighting. She talks you through the photoshoot, helping you showcase emotions that are already in there. I appreciated her calling me ahead of time to talk over about what to think when choosing outfits to wear, how the process/day will go and what to expect. She is such a happy and warm person. I have shot with Lisa twice. Both bad. The first time I was very young, and she (or the make-up artist) made me look 20 years older than I was. Literally. So, a CD booked me in a "mom" role solely from the pic, sight unseen. They released me as soon as I got to set because I looked way too young. The second glorious time I shot with her, the make-up artist made me look like I was a completely different race. People laugh when I say that, but no joke. Needless to say, I was not able to use one. Single. Shot. So, between the two shoots, about 1600 bucks down the stinker without a usable product. After that, I vowed that I would never shoot with Lisa Keating again. I moved to LA, shot with photographers there; one of whom actually snickered when Lisa Keating's name came up. They have a history of sorts. Not a positive one, according to him. We laughed. 2020: enter COVID stage left. I am temporarily back in the Bay Area after COVID forced massive production shutdowns in LA. My impetuous LA manager decides it's a great time for me to shoot more headshots. Seriously? In this climate, not going back to LA just for that. Do I dare shoot in the Bay again after... ? Do I dare try.... ?? I decided to let bygones be bygones; both shoots with LK were a long time ago, and maybe she's improved. I email her. Explained that I was not able to use any of my previous shots because of the bad make-up. How dare I think that she might apologize, and maybe even appreciate me giving her another shot (bad pun; not intended ). Not to be. She got defensive. But she did say that she doesn't use any of those artists anymore. Ok. Great. Can I see samples of your current artists' work? Clearly a fair request - she forces you to hire her artist; I'd like to know WHO I'm hiring, especially since I trusted her judgment twice before to the tune of 1600, and it was way off both times. And uh... does anybody anywhere hire any artist for anything ever without seeing their work first??? But, they must lol. Because my request to see samples of her make-up artists' work online ahead of time seemed to present some sort of a problem. She started suggesting that maybe I should just shoot in LA instead and then stopped replying. Huh?? I persisted, and asked her if any of her artists have Instagram? Anything? So, she gave me the Instagram for the artist who happened to be with her that day... whose account turned out to be private. So... I can't see it. I explained this, and asked if I could see any of her other artists' work. She stopped replying altogether. Again. It's bizarre. So, that's it. No more trying to support a local business. Back to LA I go. My fiancé shot with her a few months back, and he said he's not going to shoot with her again either. Buh-bye. read more

However, please keep in mind that her photo shoots REQUIRE you to have her make up artist do your make up prior to the shoot. Lisa is the best head shot photographer hands down! I am an actor/model and have been working in the bay area for the past 4 years. Lisa is engaging and great to work with. There was a make-up stylist on site so I didn't have to worry about "looking my best". The entire process was just...fun!
