No other optometrist was able to tell me if my nerves showed signs of glaucoma except Dr. Turcios. This is a great concern because both my mom and older sister have glaucoma. He definitively told me although I have a weird nerve (as I called it) it is not glaucoma. Whew! But added that doesn't mean you might not get it so continue to eat well and stay fit. Then he taught me about glaucoma. He keeps updated on information and it shows in the care he gives his patients. I tried another local optometrist and found differences. So Im back with Dr Turcios to stay. His schedule is a little full but if you want a truly caring, knowledgeable optometrist then he is definitely worth the wait. read more

I saw Dr. Turcios for the first time today. He was kind, friendly, informative, and definitely put me at ease. I switched my optometrist because I have early stage cataracts and my night vision is affected. I wanted a second opinion on the diagnosis of the cataracts. Dr. Turcios was informative and honest and impressed me as being a real down to earth guy. I would highly recommend him. His staff is knowledgeable, engaging, and equally friendly. This might just be the greatest optometrist in America... Last night I scratched my cornea in my left eye while removing my contacts. I called today on the off-chance that they would have an available appointment and be able to fit me in. I am new to the Bay Area and hadn't found an eye dr yet. They told me that normally they didn't see new patients for eye problems, but they went ahead and found a time for me to come in today and get checked out. Let me tell you, I appreciated this SO much! I have amblyopia (lazy eye) in my right, non-scratched, eye. I have very very minimal vision in my bad (right) eye, so I need to protect my good (left) eye at all costs. A scratched cornea may not be a super huge deal for another person, but for me it could mean the difference between being able to see and being legally blind. I cannot express how much I appreciate being fit in the schedule on the same day! (I didn't even tell them any of this over the phone, they found me an appt without this knowledge. They rock!) The office is beautiful and up to date. The doctor was thorough and made sure to check everything out. He also suggested that when I come back in a week for a check up that they go ahead and do my annual exam as well. AWESOME! I was planning on sticking with this place anyway, and I was super happy that he suggested doing my exam as well when I come back. I'll be recommending this place to everyone! read more

Showed up for my 1:30p appointment at 1:25pm. The young lady acknowledged me and I signed in. After listening to all of the front staff gossip and giggle for twenty minutes, I approached the front desk again and inquired about the hold up. She went back to speak with the doctor and came back to tell me it would be another 20 minutes. At that point she asked if I wanted to reschedule. She could have checked at 1:35p to see what the hold up was, but she was too much involved in her private conversation that wasn't so private and frankly unprofessional. Instead, I had to remind her that I was there and that my appointment was 20 minutes ago! Ever since the staff changes, this place has gone down hill. I left and I'm never going back. read more

My 6 year old was having vision problems. I wanted to make sure he was seen by an eye doctor with experience with children so I took him to Dr. Robert Turcios at Advanced Eyecare Optometry based on the Yelp reviews and the fact that he is a VSP provider. It was a fantastic experience for my son, who ended up needing glasses. Dr. Turcious was very thorough, which I felt was important being that my son is so young, I wanted to make sure he was given an accurate diagnosis and eye glass prescription. He was very friendly and engaging and my son honestly enjoyed the whole process. The experience was so positive my husband and I are both changing eye doctors. They had a fantastic assortment of children's and adult glasses. Something I was also concerned with for a 6 year old boy. We had plenty of options that we all liked, which was nice. I have been a patient of Dr. Turcios for over 25 years which should tell you all you need to know about the quality of care he provides and the professionalism of his staff. He uses a ton of technology in his office which makes me completely confident that he can completely assess the overall health of my eyes, but he does not let the technology substitute for what we all want in a medical professional - good "bedside manner". He takes all the time I need to explain what is going on with my eyesight every visit and his staff are great in terms of efficiently moving me through the appointment and getting me squared away with any glasses I might need. Advanced Eyecare Optometry is a great office. I've seen Dr. Qazi and a doc that I believe no longer works there. Both were very professional and kind. I have not yet seen Dr. Turcios. Really cannot say enough about how excellent the service has been at Advanced Eyecare Optometry over the 14 years we have been getting our eyes examined there. Dr. Turcios is the best optometrist ever and his staff is so friendly, supportive and informative. For routine exams or emergency needs (as they accommodated us when my son was injured last year) they have always been there for us. Office equipment is state of the art and Dr. Turcios walks you through the exam with courtesy, respect and shares information throughout the process so that you have all the relevant details of your diagnosis or results. Staff has always been efficient and helpful but have to say a word about Ellie who answers the phone and greets patients as they arrive: she is awesome! My first time at the office. Front Desk ladies were not very helpful, they seemed as if they were unsure of the information I provided them, I had called previously before going to my appointment and spoke with Daisy. I informed her I will be on my lunch and was on a time schedule & would be choosing frames another day. Front Desk ladies up front were telling me I will have to do that same day (being a bit rude). Daisy comes to the rescue and lets them know she already had spoken to me and is aware of my time schedule, she handled it from there. I did tell her I was interested in a particular pair of frames. Now she went ABOVE AND BEYOND her scope to help me find the pair of FRAMES I was on the hunt for. Daisy went out of her way to text her Gucci representative to ask her if they had the frames I was interested in,( she did not have to do that but she took initiative to do so). As well as Doctor Robert, he explained every step of the process he was doing. I have had surgery on my Right eye he explained what we can do from there to better my sight and let me tell you he explained in a way that I understood, no gimmes. Also beneficiary to me not to his pocket that is SATISFYING A PATIENT, not seeing a patient as a big money sign. Therefore I highly recommend you to take a visit to Dr. Robert, he truly cares for his patients, and genuinely wants to help them. read more

Dr. Turcios is a superior optometrist for several reasons. He has state- of-the-art equipment and performed several tests on my eyes not performed by other optometrists. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and on time. He is a perfectionist, seeing me several times until we got my contact lens prescription exactly right. Also, he is honest, telling my husband that he does not yet need prescription reading glasses, but can use the store-bought variety. Since he sells glasses, he talked himself out of whatever profit he would have made on that pair. In addition, he appears to be a thoughtful employer and a kind person. My husband and I were his last patients on Christmas eve. Although I needed to order glasses, he said he needed to let his staff go, so I went to another place, open later, to order my pair. Advanced Eyecare Optometry is Great! I have been going to them for a couple years. The past December I went in for my yearly checkup. I was having vision issues on my left side. When I mentioned this to Dr. Turcios, he performed additional tests and determined that I had lost a large portion of my vision on my left side. He said that this type of loss is usually due to a neurological issue such as a tumor, stroke, etc. and that I should talk to my primary doctor. I did and found out that I had several tumors in my brain caused by skin cancer I had 12 years ago. I had surgery and Immunotherapy drug treatment and my tumors have shrunk and even disappearing. If it wasn't for Dr. Turcios and his professionalism, I may not of caught this until it was to late. I credit him for saving my life. Do not hesitate going to them. They do a complete exam and provide great service. read more

They were very nice to me and my 1 year old son during my appointment as a new patient. I even had to come back because I realized I paid my copay with a wrong credit card (I needed to use my HSA medical credit card) and they were super cool about it and even gave my son a little toy to play with. I am an adult who only started wearing corrective lenses 5 yrs ago so needless to say...not a fan of wearing glasses. I ended up going through another Optometrist in Walnut Creek for several years and was fitted "incorrectly" for contact lenses. I thought I would never be able to wear contacts comfortably...that was until I went to Dr. Turcios. I felt spoiled after going to him and thought I was blessed to have stumbled upon such a great eye doctor. He really took alot of time with me and is a super cool laid back guy. I went back several times until we found the perfect fit of contact lenses. What a difference! What a joke! My 2 year old nephew was in need of glasses to correct ambylotia and esotropia in hope of avoiding surgery. Keen to seek out a highly recommended optometrist, my sister used yelp! However, her experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. First glasses were simply not suitable for a toddler and the second pair just don't fit!! The result is that she has been told she has to pay over $200 to get a replacement. This is negligent and careless treatment of a very young child. read more
