This practice has gotten way too big for its own good. I have seen every doctor in the office, and to me the best one in there is the nurse practitioner. She was the first one ever to recommend a vitamin supplement for my acne, rather than prescribing another antibiotic just because the pharmaceutical company would throw them a buck or two. All of them are extremely impersonal, some are sarcastic, and some of them make you feel relatively inept. One time I asked Dr. Palestine if she knew a good remedy for some scars I had gotten from some plastic surgery, but rather than helping me out, she was pissed that I didn't use their in-house plastic surgeon, so she just said, "well just do whatever your plastic surgeon told you to." You're supposed to be a skin doctor, woman! Have some professionalism please! Like most other reviews, I too always have to wait an extremely long time to see a doctor. They make you sit in the examination room sometimes for 45 minutes, and then they look at you for two, and send you on your way without even listening to your concerns. Uhhhh. Horrible dermatologist. I ended up seeing her because Dr. Shah was booked through July. Big mistake. Roberta shows up an hour late, without apologizing, let alone, introducing herself, she comes barging in and says "let's see what's going on here" (clad in salmon scrubs, pink lipstick, and skin so stretched and raw she almost resembled an alien). She never once asked me to explain my symptoms, and when I had questions she simply stated "the technician can answer all of your questions." I think I spent no more than 60 seconds in the actual exam before she rushed out. She was very cold, very brief, and treated me like a figure penciled into an appointment book...not a patient. I even asked her assistant if this was atypical (bad day - running behind - etc.), and she said, "no, she's like this all the time. Next time book with your regular dermatologist, Dr. Shah." On my recent May 2 visit for a minor need, I arrived on time and signed in and sat directly across from the desk of staff who check you in and verify your insurance information. Astonishingly, at least five patients who signed in after I did, were acknowledged and sent off to their appointments. I sat patiently waiting and finally stepped up and got their attention. Sometimes I feel as if I am invisible but I know I am NOT. Still frustrated that this happened and as a result my appointment took too long and I had to pay for extra parking. I'd have to agree with the rest of the reviews and I should have listened to them - my mistake! Dr. Palestine rushed me and when I asked questions was rude and told me her assistant will explain everything to me. The doctor basically just dictated to her assistant what she was prescribing to me and what she wanted me to use (all the while acting like I wasn't in the room) The assistant rushed me as well and didn't answer my questions. What a shame that they have such incompetent billing staff. I called to make an appt. was told i had a bill from 2005. They said they didnt participate with my ins. At my 6 month checkup, I mentioned my major concern was a red area running from my scalp toward my cheek that was painful to the touch .Dr. Palestine stated freezing was the appropriate treatment. I saw her last year for the first time and it was exactly like most of you said. She made me wait forever then she came in and wrote a prescription for me and walked out. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. Although I don't need her to hold my hand and ask me about work and life, some warmth and customer service would be nice. I came on her because I need to see a dermatologist again but thanks to your reviews it won't be her. I had Dr. Yu before and he was nice but it takes so long to get an appointment with him that I haven't gone back. Agree with these reviews, these are not exaggerated. She did the fastest skin cancer screening I've ever experienced, and when I asked her about a suspicious mark I was worried about I got attitude, as if 'how would I know?' Ridiculous. I liked Dr. Yu a lot. He wasn't trying to constantly sell me stuff like Dr. Shah (though not a dealbreaker), and he removed a mole that turned out to be on its way to cancer. I saw Doctor Palestine about eight years ago and was not impressed. She really did not seem interested in me as a patient and I believe she is more interested in the cosmetic side of the practice. She rushed my annual exam and was not thorough. On the other hand there is a Doctor Lee at the practice in Germantown that I have been seeing for about eight years. Doctor Lee is friendly, explains what he is doing and why, tells you what he see and gives advice on how to keep things in check. Don't dismiss this practice, if you have real problems go see Doctor Lee. read more

I have seen both Dr Yu and Zahir 4-6 time for birthmark screens and surgeries. I really liked both Drs and their staff as well (especially Pat).They work with you to find a good time and also have an answering service for evening/weekend help. read more

Dr. Palestine charged me for a procedure that took 4 visits. She assured me that I would see some improvement 30 days after my last and 4th treatment. After reviewing the before and after photos, she sent one of her technicians to tell me that although there was absolutely no improvement, I would not be receiving even a partial refund of the $1,800.00 that I had paid. It was also very obvious that when the technician came into the room to get the before and after photos, she slid them under a folder in hopes that I would not realize that the photos were being removed from the room. I just mention that to point out how guilty she felt, as she did Dr Palestine's dirty work for her. Dr Palestine sent her employees to tell me that I had lost and wasted $1,800 but she never bothered to speak with me. This unethical practice is in the business of taking your money and ripping you off. Buyer beware! read more

Absolutely awful experience. Like everyone else, she spent about 60 seconds with me then referred me to a MediSpa patient coordinator. They recommended Fraxel for my melasma. I raised concerns about hyper-pigmentation from the laser and was told not to worry about it, it never happens. WRONG! My Fraxel technician was horrible, she and her assistant stood over me and gossiped through the entire process, it was like I wasn't even in the room. After my second treatment I was told she had moved to another practice, only to find out later she had been fired after lots of complaints. I stopped my treatment after 3 of 5 sessions. The hyper-pigmentation was awful. It's taken years of Obagi, hydroquinone and resurfacing to begin to correct the damage and it's nowhere near gone. The worst part was that once I stopped the Fraxel I had a balance due for the remaining 2 sessions. I didn't ask for my $ back, I just wanted to use the credit toward something else that might help correct the damage. The patent coordinator, who had been my best friend when I forked over thousands of dollars, all of a sudden had no idea who I was and wouldn't return my emails or calls. I had to schedule an appointment and make a stink just to get them to agree to give me credit toward Obagi. No one ever acknowledged the damage they had caused. To say they ruined my skin is an understatement. I thought I was safe going to an established Dermatologist, wrong again. DO NOT trust your face to these people. read more

I was searching for a new dermatologist who participates in my insurance plan, when I came across the reviews of Dr. Palestine. I have to add my two cents. Granted, I saw her at least fifteen years ago, but the current reviews are very similar to what I experienced back then. First of all, she lanced and drained a cyst, which left a permanent -- although smallish -- scar; other dermatologists had done the same thing without leaving scars. Not only that, but the reviewers are spot on; apparently she is in the business of pushing her own products. She immediately sold me a bottle of her own acne wash. She also charged more than the going rate at that time for a dermatologist visit. read more

I came to her with acne problems today and told her I was already using benzoyl peroxide and it wasn't working. She then prescribed me something that was 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, I don't understand why she'd give me that when my 10% benzoyl peroxide was not working. Then I asked her simple questions about acne from my background knowledge and research. She didn't know what she was talking about when she answered them. This was honestly a waste of time and money, I recommend you see another dermatologist. read more

Three members of my family had bad experiences with Dr. Palestine. One example: she removed a large and potentially cancerous mole from my 14-year-old daughter's back with insufficient anesthetic. My daughter insisted she was too old to have me in the room, so I stayed in the waiting room for what seemed like a ridiculously long time. Eventually, a nurse asked me to come in because my daughter was "very pale and shaking." When I got in the room, I discovered the anesthetic was administered quite some time before Dr. Palestine actually came in to do the procedure. When she started to cut, my daughter told her it hurt and asked for more anesthetic. Dr. Palestine's reply: "This will only take a short time." When I arrived in the room, Dr. Palestine was no where to be found. I only heard from her after I copied her on the letter I sent to a medical review board, and in a phone conversation she confirmed the truth of my daughter's story but said, "She wasn't in pain very long." Exactly the same thing happened to my father a couple of year's later. I had forgotten about these incidents (and long ago moved on to another dermatologist), but then I arrived home last night to find a voicemail message from someone in her office. The message was for a woman I had never heard of and gave detailed information about a cancer diagnosis, even spelling the terms. I'm sure this is a HIPAA violation. Apparently, it's not just Dr. Palestine who doesn't care about patients-- it's the whole office. read more

For a skin condition, Dr. Ehrlich recommended a cream that I could get at the front office. Turns out the two cream choices were $60 or $120. It also turns out that I could have gotten the $60 cream through my pharmacist for considerably less. Dr. Ehrlich did not tell me I had this option, and when I asked at the front desk if I could get this as a prescription or if it could be obtained less expensively somewhere else, I was told no. read more

Big mistake seeing Dr Palestine. She over injected botox and caused severe drooping in my eyelids. One eye is almost completely closed and there is nothing that can be done to fix except let botox wear off...this type of mistake is rare and should never happen with an experienced Dr. I've done botox for many years and never had a problem until Dr. Palestine. read more

Finally found a dermatologist who accepts insurance and one who actually takes time to do a thorough skin exam! Dr. Palestine also spent a lot of time talking to me about my skin concerns and my skin regime, looked at the bag full of products I brought with me and advised me on others I could consider. I did not feel at all pressured to buy any products but bought a few anyway because we decided it was better to try those before spending money on other more expensive procedures. I would recommend her to someone who is looking for a dermatologist who still cares about your health and the health of your skin. read more

Saw Dr. Palestine today and have to agree with all the negative things already said here. She did do an ok job giving me a skin cancer screening and talking to me about the importance of sunscreen, but when it came to my acne, she hardly even looked at my face and just dictated what products I should buy (the ones they sell in the office, of course) to the assistant who wrote down the regimen and gave me one prescription. The assistant had to explain the regimen to me because Dr. Palestine apparently couldn't spare 2 more minutes to talk to me about it. And she didn't even suggest I come for a follow-up or let her know how the products work for me. They seem to be in the business of selling skincare products and cosmetic procedures, not caring for patients or their concerns. I"m willing to try the products, because they do seem good and a friend of mine uses some of them and really likes them, but if I continue with them I'll purchase more online and find another dermatologist with some bedside manner for my future skin cancer screenings and other skin issues. read more
