Before you turn up give them a call as you never know they can get real busy or completely empty including lack of staff. Forget asking for lunch or dinner they don't do it unless you book in advance. However if your after warm scones and hot pot of tea in front of a fireplace in an old mansion this is the place to go. The setting is like your grandmas house furniture and all, It's a bit run down but thats what makes it all the more appealing. Do yourself a favour when you have the opportunity drop in and take a look, bet you come back with friends and for the comedy that is uniquely Fountaindale or as well call it Fawlty Towers.

I have stayed here twice, once in the hotel and most recently in one of the private villas (privately owned but part of the Milton Park Country House grounds). Its a short and beautiful 5min drive out from the town of Bowral (opposite the Bong Bong racecourse). The road from the grand entrance at the base of the grounds is a beauty ... windy dirt road through dense bush - enough to make a wannabe rally driver salivate at the mouth. When you get to the fork in the road, the left will take you to the private villas and the right will lead you to the hotel, spa, conference/functions room/tennis courts. The road down to the private villas felt like we fell through the rabbit hole to wonderland - the road narrowed to barely the width of the car as we drove through what appeared to be a fictional village - was ohhhh soooo pretty. The villa was mammoth in size (3bds, 3bths, a beautiful patio overlooking fields and mountains ohhh and given this is Bowral, a huge fireplace to work on our s'mores skills. The hotel itself is charming and old school and I was told the spa is really lovely - a couple of friends got themselves an hr massage each and they came back to the villas in such a relaxed state ... totally had massage envy !! The only negative I could come up with is at night, this place has zero lighting so can be quite an interesting drive back.

Turn up all dressed up on Christmas lunchtime with the family to no record of our booking. After some time we were shoved into the corner as an afterthought. After 3 hours we gave up and left midway. Hugely disappointed. No positive recommendations to visit for any future events of any importance.

We had a booking for 18 people, there was another group that was a similar size and then smaller tables all around us. The staff have always been very nice and helpful, and the food is usually good. The most recent visit in early January, the food was not as good as I'd remembered but the fish and chips always seems to be a winner. The disabled bathroom has a proper change table with a change pad. It is a huge big room too.

Several times a year they have a range of events from playing host to the regular Cockatoo Run, the occasional steam train, vintage car days, spring fairs and so on. In October they have the best waratah display you will find anywhere. The grounds are always looked after and they have picnic tables for your enjoyment. They also have the Fettlers Shed Gallery which shows some pretty good art works a few times during the year. Burrawang itself is a tiny village in the middle of Moss Vale, Robertson, Bowral & Kangaroo Valley near Fitzroy Falls so is a great position to stop for a drink & bite to eat. The pub itself is a beautiful old building with fire places & lounges for colder days & nights with massive well manicured gardens at the rear with a spectacular outlook in fine weather. The restaurant is very good with a wide variety of options at very reasonable prices with mainly locally sourced ingredients as are many of the drinks at the bar. Onsite accommodation is available but I've never stayed there so can't vouch for it either way.

Lots of seating including a bar and dining area and a smaller dining room with a fireplace (my favourite). Plenty of heaters throughout for those cold Winter nights as well. I ordered a sirloin steak with veg and mushroom sauce though the steak was a little over-cooked for my liking (ordered medium rare but I think it was medium). The veggies were actually fresh and I could tell they did not come from a frozen bag. At the end of the day this pub is just meh but I think with a bit of sprucing up it could be a whole lot better considering there isn't much competition.
