Contacted Dee Shandy in April of 2018 to set up a court date to revise child custody. Her office…read moredidn't even file it until JULY. There was horrible communication between me and her office, to the point that they said we had a court date in September. I took a day of vacation to be able to attend, and didn't find out until after I was sending emails of info that it wasn't a real court date, by her extremely inefficient and rude secretary. My actual court date wouldn't be scheduled until MARCH of 2019. A FULL YEAR after my original court date. I made many attempts to contact Mrs Dee, only to be blocked and fielded by her secretary. Dee did not even try to contact me until 3pm the Friday before my court date, which was set for that Monday. She didn't even contact me to talk strategy or anything, she wanted me to send her some paperwork she had not yet requested, that I had to jump through hoops to get. Mrs Dee arrived barely in time for the court date, which again gave us no time to talk. She had subpoenaed none of the witnesses I had asked for, had not arranged the child advocacy lawyer I had requested, nothing that we had talked about in our original meeting. She was incredibly unprofessional and unprepared, she also wouldn't listen and didn't argue points I was telling her to that could have proven my ex-wife's purgery. To make matters even worse, my ex's lawyer drew up the paperwork after. Dee didn't show me until after she had signed it and sent it back. My ex's lawyer had added lines that screwed me over, even more than Dee's ineffective counsel had. Though I tried repeatedly to have it addressed, Dee's office originally side stepped the issue and finally stopped responding at all. Do not waste your money here!! Find anywhere else or even risk representing yourself before being blind sided by this place!!

I soon learned about how serious this is in St. Tammany Parish, pleading guilty, judge wanted to sentence me to a month in jail combined with a stiff fine and another proposed (120) hours community service along with the hefty fines. So of course I promptly retracted the guilty plea and hired Mr. Jerry Fontenot as my attorney for a very reasonable fee. He didn't promise anything at all "Except" that he would do his very best, in which he did. The final outcome after a short period, without me having to attend any court hearings, was a very minor fine and even got the ticket put under the "Article 894" where it wouldn't go against my insurance cost. In my opinion, that's simply "Amazing".
