So many things on the menu looked great. No one was behind the ice cream counter when I arrived, but soon a youngster made their way over and very pleasantly greeted and assisted me. I was surprised there was no chocolate chip ice cream. I ended up ordering a flavor a rarely if ever order...maple nut. The nut being walnut. On a plain waffle cone. As you can see from the photo, there were a number of very tempting dipped and sprinkled cones. Might have to try one of those next time. With that said, I wondered what some of the back stories were on a lot of these animals, were they being rehabilitated or were they there to bring in visitors. There were animals from Australia and South America which made me wonder, are the being rehabilitated? I enjoyed walking through the center and seeing the animals. There was plenty to see, from wolves, bears, bobcats, eagles and vultures. I found myself fascinated with the grizzly bear that was having the time of his life playing in the pools with a Although it is an enjoyable place to visit and you get to see a lot of fascinating animals, I couldn't help but feel for the larger birds (Owl, Eagles and Vultures) that have very limited space to fly. Lone Pine Park is the most underserved park in the City. It was built in 2007 and grass was…read moreplanted in the middle. A covered picnic area and a few odds and end trees were planted and left to fend for themselves. One is hanging on the ground in the middle of the park that could use most of its lower branches pruned , but after a few requests for help nothing is done. There's a walking path that is nice. I was told they have a total of 4 employees for park maintenance. The surrounding parks at Kennedy, Spring Street, and Cedar links are in pristine shape with bark mulch around the borders instead of noxious weeds. The areas around the walking path are filled with goat head thorns and dead vegetation. I asked the parks why they let this area go to weed and they said it isn't irrigated. They don't have plans to irrigate or improve this park . There's at least a half acre of unused/undeveloped field space that also is a weed patch. It says there is a playground on site but there is none. They put in a splash pad several years ago but no improvements to grassy areas that are being taken over by weeds. There is a poor tree near the pavilion that is drooping branches on the ground. Help!! City commissioners what can you do do? Take a field trip and compare how this park is cared for vs all others.

All the activities are scheduled so carefully that I was able to participate in everything I wanted to do. Their horses are very well cared for, well behaved and trained. No swaybacked trail nags here! The up to date whitewater rafts and staff were all very knowledgeable and safety oriented. We had some GREAT rapids rides!! The shooting involved expert SAFE instruction and a revolving set of varied experiences with different weapons. The children in attendance had the time of their lives as did this 74 year old horsewoman! The ranch is self sufficient ( off the grid) and well off the beaten path. A real community developed amongst the guests under the guidance and warm personalities of Heidi and Doug. The 30 plus years of love and devotion to the upkeep of the natural beauty of their ranch showed in the gardens and plantings of flowers and trees in abundance. Even the gaggle of teenaged sisters spent less time in the lodge (the only WiFi) than one would have imagined! A fun and deeply relaxing time in nature was had by all.
