That level of disorganization was incredibly frustrating. Worst of all, our 2024 and 2025 taxes were not completed as expected, and now we're left dealing with money owed to the IRS. The lack of communication, organization, and follow-through has cost us both time and money. This is our first time using their services and it has been a nightmare. They assured us that everything will go smoothly. This year (2020), we received a notice CP81 stating that they have not received our tax return for 2017. I immediately called and spoke with Carolina T. and she advised that the system crashed during the time they filed and she said she will issue a refund. She also advised that she will re-file the same day (7/23/20) and she sent me a confirmation email that it was sent. I called the IRS again, hours and days later, and they advised they did not receive it. When I called back to Carolina T. at the CPA office, she indicated that it was filed and it will take some time for it to show up on the IRS side. Well it's now 11/20/2020, and we received another letter from the IRS. The same notice CP81 indicating that the 2017 taxes were not filed. In Summary, I don't believe the story that the system crashed and somehow lost our information or the filing didn't go through. If that was the case, why weren't there blast email or notice sent to people indicating this. Also this is the 2nd time they advised they filed electronically and apparently it still did not go through. I waited to write this review, because I honestly thought this was an honest mistake and out of their control, but now I realize, this is not a good business to work with. Although we did receive a full refund back for their services, this issue is still not resolved, and more and likely we'll probably be paying back interest. When asked if they will be paying the interest, she stated (back in July), that the refund should cover the interest cost if any. This is unacceptable. I was better off using Turbo Tax or H&R Block. I paid the higher amount for ease of convenience and quality. I received neither.

At the time, I was going through a divorce and needed help sorting through a complicated tax situation. I first met with him in March 2025 and didn't have a follow-up appointment until September 2025. Initially, I planned to file separately. However, during our September meeting, Justin advised that my ex-husband and I should file a joint return for the 2023 tax year, the year we separated, because it would save us money. Based on that advice, I waited while he communicated with my ex-husband and gathered the necessary documentation. Months passed without any updates. In December, I emailed Justin three separate times before finally receiving a response. During that time, I also received notices from the IRS regarding late filings and penalties. When I finally heard back, I learned that Justin had filed my 2024 tax return separately in October without informing me. He then told me that filing jointly would not have resulted in significant savings after all. Had that been communicated to me earlier, I could have made an informed decision. At a minimum, I believe he should have called me before changing course and filing my return. I also discovered something much more concerning: he had never filed my 2023 tax return. Instead, he had filed my 2024 return, despite charging me $310 for preparing and filing my 2023 return. Because I was dealing with my divorce and the sale of my home, I did not have the mental bandwidth to immediately address the situation and needed to find another CPA. Eventually, I contacted the CPA my ex-husband and I had worked with while we were stationed in Arizona. Although I had moved to Texas, I learned he could still assist me. In February 2026, I contacted Justin to request all of my tax documents so I could transfer them to my former CPA. I was finally able to pick them up in April. Before releasing my documents, Justin wanted to meet with me. During that meeting, he could not explain why my 2023 return had never been filed. Ironically, the morning of our meeting, he submitted a request for verification of non-filing for my 2023 tax return. He acknowledged that he had let me down and offered to file the return at no additional charge after I consulted with my new CPA. Ultimately, my former CPA resolved everything quickly and professionally. Despite being in another state, communication was prompt, clear, and consistent throughout the process. I also requested a refund of the $310 I paid Justin for preparing and filing my 2023 return, since it was never filed and cost me hundreds more in late/penalty fees. To date, I have not received that refund. Now that my tax matters have been resolved, I intend to file complaints with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) and the Texas Society of CPAs regarding my experience.
