The bar's space was renovated to transport customers to the secrecy of the Prohibition era. Through OpenTable, I made a reservation for my husband and me. We entered the building through a side entrance on Amity Street, checked in with an employee at a desk, and then waited for another employee to walk us to the 100-year-old elevator (it still works!). On the fourth floor, we saw old bank items such as safety deposit boxes and mechanical check printers. We pushed a button to turn a clock handle to a certain time, and then a hidden door opened. We entered the bar, and two bartenders, Ryan and Robbie, greeted us. The menu listed vodkas, gins, tequilas, mezcals, liquors, bourbons, ryes, rums, seasonal drinks, and mocktails. Food could be ordered from the Puerto Rican restaurant Secretos De Mis Abuelos that is located elsewhere in the building. The bar consisted of a few rooms, each of which had glamorous interior design such as antique furniture, wallpaper with bold patterns, paintings, and dimly lit lamps. Beyond the bar was the Library, which had shelves of books and an old radio. The bartenders patiently repeated to us that we should pull a certain book to open another secret door that would lead us to the Red Room. We finally figured out which book to pull, and we walked down stairs to a parlor with rich, red hues, plush seating, and (at least at that time) a more private, quiet setting. I ordered the French martini (vodka, Chambord, pineapple juice, raspberry vanilla shrub, and raspberries) and the Painkiller (spiced rum, coconut rum and cream, pineapple juice, orange juice, and nutmeg), and I rate them both as 5 stars. Each of those drinks cost $13 plus tax, credit-card fee, and tip.

My friends ordered the pretzels which they said were so so, I think they were also a little too well done. Unfortunately, I am abstaining from beer right now, so I did not partake of the alcohol, nor did I want the carbs in the bun that came with the veggie burger. The veggie burger, I think was a beyond burger, and I just ordered it with what came on it, which was greens, onions, and pickles. But the burger was quite well well done and for a plant-based burger that's usually not a good scene so I wasn't that impressed with the burger for $14. My friends really enjoyed the beer though and sampled a few of their Czech beers and Pilsner's. It seems like it is definitely a great spot to meet up at before attending a concert up the hill.

I like that they have smaller pours that are reasonably priced. I'm a dark beer lover and they had a few options for me. We sat there at the bar and closed down the place. This place is a little out of the way but I would come back!
