And then informed me that the program I'm looking to be in is only offered in the spring so since I was a semester behind I was actually an entire year behind and wouldn't be able to join the program until the next year. So instead of getting my associates in 2 years I'd be getting it in 3. But I was told as long as I take all of the winter and fall classes I needed I should be able to get into the program the following spring. He told me I just need to make sure I get a spot in the safety class they're going to offer in the fall for my program. Because if I have to take it in the winter I might not get a seat in the program because it's very competitive. So now it's fall registration time and they aren't even offering the class in the fall. So now i just have to wait and see how winter registration for next year goes if ill even get into the program next year or not. Which would have me at this school for 4 years. How stupid that I go to this school for an associates and it's going to take me the same time as if I just went to a university and got a bachelor's. And it would've looked better coming from a university as well. These counselors are a joke and will make you think they're helping you when really they're setting you back monumentally.

I took the two-day seminar in Traverse City and then participated in a smaller unrelated workshop facilitated by ZingTrain. The former was disappointing, and latter was worse. During the latter the facilitators were basically running on a chart-paper-and-post-it-note-fueled script. They weren't responsive to the audience - I wouldn't call us participants. They weren't really listening. It was fine, in the way that those things always are, but not worth the time or the money.

Essentially Enlighten567 is a marketing firm. The seminars, offered by financial planners, are just a way to get in front of the public to get new clients. The presenter, in my seminar, couldn't answer basic questions about taxes in retirement. You're better off accepting a free dinner at a steak house and listening to a sales pitch.
