Had a blast with Jim at Joshua Tree!
    Alyssa L.

Yesterday my family went on a full day climbing adventure with Jim from Rock Climb Every Day. It was beyond amazing! The three of us were not experienced and Jim spent the time to make sure we felt comfortable yet challenged. He demonstrated all of the safety measures that were in place and explained each step to make us feel as comfortable as possible. I never once felt unsafe the entire day. We first went to an area to test our capabilities and try out a few different techniques that Jim had been telling us about. Jim set everything up quickly and kept us informed during the entire process. On our first climb we all definitely struggled a little bit, but Jim talked us through each of the steps to get to the top! Reaching the top of the mountain was an amazing feeling! After we did a few climbs here, Jim suggested we try some other areas. We ended up doing another two climbs further into the park. They were difficult and at one point I did not think I was going to make it up, but Jim somehow got me to the top! The climbing community in general was a pretty cool sight to see as they all know each other and seem to be very helpful and welcoming. I would recommend Jim any day! He is extremely knowledgable about not only climbing but about the park as well. This makes it very easy for him to fit the day around whatever you are looking to do. Once you get started he will make sure he finds you the perfect place to climb! Tips: - Be ready for a full day of adventure! Bring snacks/lunch and wear comfortable shoes and clothing...wear sunscreen! - The earlier you go the better because the rocks tend to get more crowded as the day goes on - Go into the day with an open mind, Jim or any of the other instructors make sure you have the best time Would definitely do this again. Thanks Jim and team!

Our guide Jim went above and beyond what we expected. We booked a Half Day Rock Climbing Adventure with 5 people. A 6th person joined us, which worked out well. Jim quickly set us up on two top ropes with easier routes to get going. We split into groups of three and Jim taught everyone how to belay. The third person of each group was a belay backup for safety. Jim provided lots of advice while we all climbed 3-4 routes. After that we could have been done considering we booked a half-day, but Jim took us to another location where we got to try out two more challenging routes. I also spent another day later in the week alone with Jim. He gave me a great overview of anchor building and trad climbing. Exactly what I was looking for. Fit in a ton of instruction for a short period of time. Gave me a good base of knowledge to get me climbing outdoors. I also found Rock Climb Every Day's website, booking process and communication to be fantastic. Highly recommended.

Took a great rappelling class with Olga. My friend (who is much more experienced) had been to a class with her a few weeks earlier and his excitement was contagious. Olga is a terrific instructor... patient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic. She and her husband Carlos encourage you with their joyful attitudes. Olga's passion is contagious and I pushed past any fears and had a wonderful day with my friend, enjoying the magnificence of Joshua Tree while rappelling down cliffs of never imagined possible before. I'll be going back again.

My experience with Rock Climb Everyday was amazing from my first inquiry call to the repelling experience. Olga was informative and responsive. In fact, I "butt dialed" their number, and she called me back apologizing she had missed my call, asking how she could help me. Customer service like I have never experienced! On to our adventure. Jim, our guide, was RAD (sorry, I am an 80s kid, and this is the first word that comes to my mind for him!). He was fun, informative, protective, attentive, and funny! He was patient with my nervousness. I can't say enough about our experience in Joshua Tree with him. I had trouble with one of my repells, but his enthusiasm, love and respect for the sport makes me want to conquer that rock. And I will only re-attempt if he is my guide again. This is your company for your rock climbing adventure!

Olga is an awesome instructor. She provides a safe and fun atmosphere where you'll get a ton of hands on training. We had a great time! My 13 & 15 year old sons & I took a beginner climbing class in Chatsworth. And she added on a bonus repelling class. We spent the entire day climbing and repelling. I highly recommend.

Rick is an outstanding mentor!!! I highly recommend Rick, he's the bomb.com. Whether you're looking for a fun day out climbing, brand new to climbing or looking to fine tune your skills. Rick has got you!! Having left an abusive situation, I was torn of my self esteem, self worth, trust and my mental/physical health in general. I was looking to challenge that mindset. I live right next door to Joshua Tree and have always been interested in learning to rock climb, but had never tried it. When I contacted RCED to schedule a private lesson, he was available the next day. My expectations were honestly pretty low. I thought I was going to half learn things and never climb again. I thought wrong!! We spent our lesson time at Quail Springs. Rick is super friendly, exceptionally patient and helpful. He helped me learn the basics and encouraged me to challenge my abilities. He was very informative with each of my 1 million questions! When the day was done, my life had been changed. Rick gave me the tools to succeed: a very thorough lesson in not only rock climbing but, trust, confidence, body awareness and critical thinking. I learned so much more than expected! To top it off, he has followed up with me on occasion to assess how I am doing with rock climbing, answer my questions and invite me to group climbs. I have been rock climbing ever since that day! And in general, my mental/physical health is better than ever!! Worth every penny! I am forever grateful of this experience, Rick & RCED!

Five stars all the way!…read more First, I had fun and didn't die so, in my opinion, my adventure with Cliffhanger was a big success. Second, the whole experience was seamless. Booking was quick and easy. Their questionnaire about my experience, preferences, etc was thorough. Pricing was fair. They are conveniently located. And the owners do a lot of good work in the community. Third, my guide- Mike C- was just the absolute best. Relentlessly upbeat, patient with my questions, the essence of calm. This young man cheerfully and gently verbally assisted me beyond several points where I would have just... stopped. He was an excellent safety and technique coach but without his encouragement and, again, unflappable calm, I would not have felt as confident or relaxed. He's very gifted and I'm lucky to have been assigned to him as he crafted an amazing experience. Fourth, food was a real surprise! I expected the barest minimum but it was nicer than anything I would have eaten at home! Overall, if you're wanting to rock climb and need a guide, Cliffhanger is the way to go. I have nothing but praise for them.

If it weren't for my…read morefriend Lea, who introduced me to indoor climbing, I probably would have never tried to enhance my skills through an Intermediate class up in J.T. This would be my second time climbing outdoors, my first time in Joshua Tree, and one of the best things that I've ever done. Steve was our instructor and he was a no B.S. kind of dude. He was extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy, and pushed our group to go above and beyond their capabilities--not to instill fear but more to show us that we're so much more capable of what we think we can do. Day 1 started with Steve teaching us several knots that we would need to know to create slings, extend ropes, and tie in and set anchors. Then he showed us all of the anchor devices and techniques. Once we were schooled on the tools we needed to set anchors, he set us free to set up some anchors around the boulders around us. He always checked our work and critiqued what we did right, wrong and how we could have improved it. After about a half day of anchor lectures and practice settings, he set up some top ropes for us to climb for the rest of the afternoon. I'm a 5.9 climber in the gym, and he set up some 5.7 cracks that I found really difficult and challenging, but a lot of fun. On Day 2 we drove to another part of the park. This was the real test. Not only did we have to scramble up the side of a mountain with gear, but we also had to partner up and set up anchors, and then repel off of them. Again, he always checked our work and safety was always a priority. I never felt jeopardized, but always challenged. Once we repelled off of our first anchor sets, he let us top rope off of them. The second part of Day 2 got even more interesting when he led us back to the top of our first anchors, showed us how to tear them down, and then led us to even higher ground "free soloing" it up the mountain (i.e., scrambling without rope) to set up another set of anchors. I have to admit that I was scurrred, but I put all of my faith and trust in Steve and my group. Steve would remind us that if there was something we felt uncomfortable with to let him know so he could rope us in or spot us from behind. Our group was cohesive--we looked out for each other, checked each other for safety and never left anyone behind. It was pretty gnarly (the best descriptive word for this) to sitting at the top of a mountain, setting up anchors, looking over the edge for accuracy and then having complete faith in your work by repelling off of it and then top roping it over and over. I really had no idea what I was in for when Lea invited me to go with her on this weekend excursion, but it was worth every penny. Not only did I improve my climbing skills, but I also walked away with some pretty cool mountaineering survivor skills, a new set of friends, and last but not least, bruised and scraped knees and knuckles. In short, Steve RAWKS!!!!
