There one of the best primary schools in St Helens and the staff deserve to be proud of that because as a team they all work exceptionally hard to maintain that high standard of education. Plenty of open space for the children to excersise and run around outside and it's safe. Headmaster and staff are all very good teachers with lots of time for the children and parents.

There are spacious sports areas with all weather pitches, flood lighting and fencing around the tennis and netball pitches to stop stray balls effecting other groups. The school has always had a good reputation for sport music, art and drama.

Results are good and the teaching is absolutely excellent. They are linked to the thriving St Thomas church and the vicar is in the school daily, doing assemblies, harvest etc. The school meets the healthy schools standard so the meals are healthy and well prepared. Uniform is a little bland (I like blazers but then I'm old fashioned!) but the children are a credit to the school. Good ofsted reports.

Mrs W won 'teacher of the year' for the work she did, the school ended up 'a specialist college in the performing arts' sad that it's getting knocked down to build more houses And although I too haven't been a pupil for a good few years I have been back to watch productions and even attended Mrs W leaving do, which was a testament to the number of pupils she influenced over the years, one of my friends in particular had never even picked up a musical instrument until being at high school, she now has a masters from the Royal Northern and not only teachers but composes and has just taken on a rather high profile commission, another girl I know has gone on to do Drama in Strafford and is currently producing a version of A Midsummer's Night's Dream at the Edinburgh Festival, not to mention that chap who got into RADA

Okay, Fairfield wasn't a good school really but it was what you made of it. One of the good things…read morethat fairfield has taught me is to be independent and not to be spoon-fed information, which meant that when we all got to college, 5 out of the top 10 people in our year had attended Fairfield, all getting 4 As at A Levels or higher (myself included!). The ones who went to other schools and got higher GCSEs never actually seemed to do as well or be as independent. It is sad it's getting knocked down, but I think it is time for a new start for fairfield.

Birkenhead Sixth Form college was the best thing that ever happened to me! After 5 years in a…read moreprivate school it opened my eyes to teachers that related to students and genuinely cared about education and career progression! I studied A levels in Media, English lang/lit, and Theatre Studies, thoroughly enjoyed all three subjects and ended up with good results and a ticket to university from this place! It was such a change from the traditional teaching methods through independent education, and it brought to me an environment that made me want to learn. The staff were all fantastic and there are such a wide range of subjects that there's literally something for everyone! The refectory area was also good, serving really decent meals at quite a cheap rate, even cheaper if you qualified for free dinners! The EMA policy encouraged people to attend and I think the whole educational set up is a merit to the UK's education system!
