My daughter attended this school from 10 months old until she was almost 4 (due to start big…read moreschool!) I haven't a bad word to say about this school. The children are always happy and close bonds between them are created. The staff are lovely, warm and you feel safe in the knowledge that your child is being cared for by well trained staff who not only care for your children but also educate them in a way that prepares them for school. If I have any more children in future I will not hesitate with putting my child forward to attend this school. I wish all the staff and children the best of luck and we will miss them all very much.

Seven years I spent in this school, learning my times tables, perfecting my handwriting, avoiding…read moresports days, and eating packed lunch in the grotty dinner centre that smelled of hot cheese. The school is divided into two buildings, and essentially three areas: reception children are effectively segregated from the burly year-ones and "tops". For years 3-6, children go up to "juniors". There is also a nursery available through the week. The headteacher and many of the school teachers have changed since I was there, so I can't comment on teaching standards. With regards to the school building itself, there have been some improvements with new entrance doors, an enhanced play area, and new dining facilities. The building was decrepit when I attended school here; with smashed window, exposed brick work and a dirty, positively dangerous playing field, it needed more than a lick of paint. St Edmunds is quite a large school and accepts children from outside of the area and christian denomination, besides those of St Edmund's and/or St Thomas's parish. While I myself represent the progeny of this school, there is some stigma attached to St Edmund's and St Thomas's relating to the sector of society it welcomes or rather, acquires. Many feel it is one of the least respected schools,that is less exclusive- less posh, basically. I don't know whether that's fair to say, in my opinion it is true to some extent but not necessarily a disadvantage.

Moreover, the scale of the school demands an intimate student/teacher relationship and enables relationships to build throughout the school life of the child. During my time there, I literally studied till I dropped! By word of mouth, I heard that I was attending one of the top Schools in Liverpool, so I had to brace myself for the amount of home work and extra activities I was involved in. This did put me under a lot of pressure as stress levels were inevitibly high during those years. However, if it had not been for St. Eddie's (as some call it), I would probably not have achieved my full potential. The School is located in quite a peaceful surrounding and when you enter the site, it has this classic School look about it with long corridors, a huge playing field and even a swimming pool (which was a bonus). The 6th Form building is pleasantly decorated in a building of heritage that the School has preserved. Its interior walls are painted in lovely pink too! Each classroom in the Upper School fits an average of 20 pupils and they have a wide range of facilites to benefit from, throughout the institution. There are also a couple of common rooms where you can eat and chat to friends in a controlled environment. If you are a parent and have a child or you are of the post-16 criteria, look no further than St. Edward's College.

Xaverian College...what a fantastic place…read more This is where I actually became who I am today. I know that sounds silly but this college is fantastic. I learnt more here in two years than I did in five years at high school. The teachers here really bring you out of yourself, they actually care about the students, not just about the grades. I'm still in touch with most of my tutors now, they care what I've been up to since I left and always get in touch to congratulate me on anything I achieve. The range of subjects is vast and the campus keeps getting bigger and better. It's much different to most other colleges as the buildings are spread right out although not too far so you can still walk to all of them comfortably. It's so different to school, everyone is treated as an adult and it was such a good grounding before university, I don't think I'd have been half as prepared for uni if it wasn't for Xaverian.

This school is a dictatorship. Left here years ago but I still get ptsd from this building. So…read morehere's a few things they wouldn't want you to know "No bullying tolerance" absolute bs, if you report bullying they'll roll their eyes at you, do some investigation that they're not arsed about. Then blame you for getting bullied. Whilst other schools have something called "isolation" Woodchurch calls it "work room" and "rehab" nothing too different from the typical isolation room in any other school. In fact there's people who would rather be there than in lesson. For the most part teachers are so rude, you can be so kind and they'll tell you where to shove it. The amount of times Liverpool echo has covered this school is impressive. The biggest scandal they've been in which they continually try to brush under the rug is making students eat lunch outside during a hurricane and locking the doors so students can't go the toilets during lunch either (they have a tendency to lock toilets all day) FYI. They used covid and vandalising as an excuse for both of these. You can't find google reviews for this school anymore because of the accusations of SA and grooming from the teachers. Which they would claim as false until you realise a teacher there has been arrested for grooming a student. (It's always the science and history teachers funny enough) You are not allowed to bring in your own coat, you have to buy the Woodchurch branded ones which a lot of people tend to think is optional going here. It's not. If you bring in your own coat it's taken off you immediately. The excuse for this is bullying. Trust the response from parents having their kids finish in this school is always "I should've sent you to another school" so don't bother wasting your time.

I had the worst 4 years here at this school. All the teachers did at this school to help was say…read morewhatever was on the script they don't care about you at all they treat their school as a monarchy making the children peasants that they can just trample on. The last year I was in this school I was suffering with depression and every time I went to my head of year he shut me down and told me to get over it. It was to the point I was sobbing to my dad to not let me go back. The school is absolutely atrocious and shouldn't even be open. If you don't have mental health problems when you start, you will by the time you finish. This school made me transfer to a much better school (st Mary's Catholic college) who actually help their students. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO WOODCHURCH HIGH SCHOOL it will kill them mentally.
