A fun little bouldering gym in a very central location. Their deal for the charity climb is hard to beat.

New bouldering gym for the win!…read more Climbing into its 6 month since opening, this new space boasts a larger rock wall area, comfier landing mats, and nice corner area for stretching and strengthening hose tight sore muscles! Compared to other climbing gyms, this place uses the V-scale type of grading scale, the same type for grading outdoor mountain climbing routes and difficulty. This grading scale is a little tougher even in the first 2-3 levels! Really makes you appreciate how easy you've had it at other gyms lol! It's more challenging for sure but that's what makes it so good Theres a couple added features that I really like as well: the crash mats have a felt covering which is nicer to land on, cleaner bathrooms with a foot washing station! Also some great equipment and wall pieces to challenge your finger hold/grip strength Some nice extra features are that they have a bouldering league in which you can participate to complete the proposed climbing routes to earn draw prizes! Def coming back for more!

I definitely had no idea what "bouldering" was before. One of my friends has been in the bouldering…read moreand rock climbing scene for awhile now and I finally made the jump to check it out. The location is in the old Goodwill on 51 Ave, which is convenient and has lots of parking. The staff welcomed us and explained all the bouldering details to us newbies, while getting us set up with shoe rentals (about $5 per visit). We had a little intro and climbed up one route and practiced our jumps in a safe manner. Then we were on our own! All the routes are colour coded with white being the easiest level. It's definitely easy to walk around and try out some different climbs. Also they change things up weekly - so your favourite climb may not be there, but there's always another similar skill level replacement. If you're new to bouldering - like me - definitely check it out on a Saturday night as there's a free beginners introduction class at 5pm. They teach you all the ropes and techniques of how to climb safely and properly. Also they have a promo on for newbies, where your second visit is free! I've been there a few times now, so I broke down and finally bought my own climbing shoes and a punch pass. Just make sure to store ALL your belongings in a locked locker (including your outdoor shoes at the front), as someone recently stole my friend's shoes. Other than that, enjoy!

I booked Vertically Inclined Rock Climbing for an end of year party and I was pretty impressed by…read morethe price and the amount of time we got. The reason I'm giving them only four stars instead of five is because they don't have a separate room for the actual party space which means the kids are Right in the middle of the climbing area while having pizza for snacks and I found that a little uncomfortable. On the positive side the kids had a great time. They love learning a new skill and I think some of them are going to go back and try to get in some climbing this summer - nothing wrong with that. The learning curve is a little bit steep so you need to be prepared for that. The first bit of your booked time is learning not climbing. But again I'm OK with the kids learning a little bit! Try out this rock climbing gym for something a little different for your next party or corporate event.

Belay On! Climb! Climb On!…read more I cannot believe how much fun I had last night at Veritcally Inclined Rock Gym. I came with my hubby and two friends as part of Yelp's Fit Club in May! Now, first... let me admit, I think I'll enjoy it more and do even better when I lose half a backstreet boy (aka - post baby weight) but that didn't stop me from having a blast. Staffer, Robin, was helping out my group and he was GREAT! He encouraged us when we thought we couldn't go further and had a handy dandy laser pointer he'd shine up on the rocks to tell us which one he thought would be our next step up or grip for our hands. My hubby made it to the top twice in our 20 minute lesson and I was more than happy to get half way up the wall :-) I really enjoyed repelling down the wall like spider girl after climbing and the swinging/sitting mid air when taking a break was suprisingly fun! Be sure to ask for chalk if you're a newbie or nervous because it really helps you keep grip on those rocks! The facility was amazing with TONS of walls to climb. If you're more of a free climber or boulderer you're a little more limited here but they have tons of rope courses and a few walls you can climb without being harnassed. Bright, cheerful, and really supportive! I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience! I am definitely planning on returning and upping my personal best! They offer adult and kid friendly courses (10 week adult one is hightly recommended and kiddos even have summer camp options starting at 5 years and up). Vertically provides everything you need - just come in your workout gear and they will do the rest. They also offer all day passes where you can come climb, leave - go grab lunch, run an errand, and then come back and climb! My fellow Edmontonians, if you haven't checked out Vertically Inclined Rocky Gym, you are missing out!

The facility seems to be in good repair and the mini gym where sportball was held was well maintained and the venue had ample parking. I am definitely interested in taking the kid here again someday to check out the toddler play structure when it is available. The pool looks nice. I haven't swum here in over 20+ years so I really can't adequately review it nowadays but I have fond memories of swimming here in any case.

Came to Kinsmen Leisure Centre yesterday for a toddler birthday party…read more My review is for the amenities used for the toddler play & party room. The play room is for children 6 & under. It had optional black lights throughout the room which the kiddos loved! There were plenty of slides, climbing structures, giant foam building pieces, gymnastic mats, and a rock climbing wall! It was clean, it was bright, it was spacious! Adjoining the playroom was a large party room with tables, chairs, washroom, sink, counter area. My only complaint is that my kiddos could see & smell the pool which led to incessant requests to go swimming... So we will likely go swimming today! I think the mom said it was $170 for 2 hours. Balloons & piñatas are not allowed due to the air intake system. Overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10! 2 hours is a pretty tight window to set up, play, eat, open presents, and clean up. The next group was waiting for us to leave at the 2 hour mark.
