On December 17, 2024 i went into Rock Hospital for shoulder surgery. Dr Strickland was my surgeon and he was amazing but what was beyond excellent was the anesthesiologist. You see my husband of 42 years had just passed and this was the first time in my life that I didn't have him by my side. When I woke in recovery I was hysterical. Yelling for my husband and causing everyone to get very upset. Fernando Salgado MD was there by my side talking to me and trying to convince me that my husband was not there. I know I upset him and all the nurses as I see tears in their eyes when I was finally aware of the situation and work up enough to understand. Not thoroughly checked for lung issues. The blond nurse with acne was not kind at all. The other staff were descent and just felt a general discord from staff as if they were too busy to deal with me and wanted me out all though they weren't busy at all. I had just got out of urgent care before going there and had low oxygen saturation. They never took chest X-rays despite this. The guy in grey scrubs was the best one there. They sent me out with prescriptions yet never asked where to call them into. I felt as if they were blaming everything on my smoking and cared less because of it. I agreed to quitting smoking and they never offered any type of help or information on successfully quitting. The doctor wasn't terrible yet not thorough enough. The worst part was that blond nurse with acne as she was terribly unpleasant and when I asked if I was gonna be able to sleep through the night now she said " we don't prescribe sleep meds for this type of thing." I never asked nor wanted sleep meds. I just didn't want to wake up every hour coughing and short of breath. They sent me out and on the way to the car I was wheezing again but chose not to go back in as I felt rushed out and not taken seriously as if they thought I was drug seeking. Thank you to the guy who gave me the treatment but the rest lacked. I ended up at Wesley a few hours later with more prescriptions and feel better with breathing treatments for at home, antibiotics, follow up care instructions, bedside manner without drug seeking accusations, chest drays and being told I have emphysema. I'm quitting smoking for good now and am grateful to Wesley for thorough and kind treatment. Will not recommend or go back to rock regional. Only giving 1 star so that I can leave a review. On Saturday my son spiked 105.1 temp and was hallucinating, couldn't walk, and was in and out of consciousness. I rushed him in to Rock Regional Hospital. When we arrived the doctor informed me he was most concerned about bringing down his temperature. I was fine with that. He stated we would get his temperature under control and then figure out what was causing it. They gave him oral Tylenol which he threw right back up, they then gave him a Tylenol suppository. The whole time this is happening he is unable to even tell me his brother and sister's names and doesn't recognize me. We were there for 3 hours while they waited for the Tylenol to kick in. NO testing was done. No blood work, no urine analysis, no scans, NOTHING. His fever finally came down to 100.2 and he started to talk to us more coherently. The doctor came in and felt around on his stomach and told us "he isn't flinching and the way he is now moving shows me he does not have appendicitis". We tried explaining multiple times that he is autistic and doesn't communicate his pain like you would expect. He then had him stand up and said "he doesn't have appendicitis becausehe can stand and walk, he has the stomach flu." We tried to ask questions and he shrugged us off. The next morning his fever had spiked to 104 and he couldn't move at all without whining. I rushed him in to Derby Family Medcenters and Dr Niederee did blood work and a urine screen. He was so concerned and listened to my whole story and told me I did the right thing by bringing him in. That is how we found out his white blood cell count was 18,000, way over the normal limit. He told us to run him to Wesley Children's and thank God we did. Upon arriving there the testing began. My poor boy (he's only 7) had to endure a spinal tap, CT abdomen, a head CT, multiple blood test, nose swabs, and a urine culture. He was on days worth of IV antibiotics and fluids. His CRP (inflammation levels) were at 180 which is the max the test allows to be calculated, a normal level is 2.9. He is now in contact with a urologist for continued follow up on Hydronephrosis (swelling of the kidney) and on another week of oral antibiotics for a kidney infection. I was told if we had not taken him when we did things could have been tremendously worse than they already were. So moral of the story if you have a child that is needing medical attention please DO NOT take them to Rock Regional Hospital. Take them straight to Wesley Children's because at least there they will listen and do everything they can to make sure they find out what is wrong with your baby and get them the care they need. I have filed a formal complaint against the doctor at Rock Regional and they stated a formal investigation would be done and I would be made aware of the outcome and have not heard anything back as of now. ZERO Stars. How come I have to give them a star to post this! They deervse ZERO STARS. If you want to go to a clown show, go here. The staff was mostly pleasant. But the Head ER Doctor and his ER students were a joke. I explained and re-explained to his incompetent students why i was there. I spent the previous 48 hours in excruciating pain passing blood in my stool and throwing up so bad I hurt from the violent wretching. My stomach, intestines, bowels all hurt, but I only wanted to find out why blood was in my stool. The Doctor basically accused me of drug seeking. Nothing could be further from the trurth. I respectfully disagreed was released from the ER, bascially in shock of the accusation. When I got home, I realized they never even took out my IV. I had to do it at home myself. I left traumatized, angry, hurt for being accused of something that was not true. I would strongly encourage any person considering care here to drive the extra few miles into Wichita. My son went there for a puncture wound! Great staff and great service in the Emergency Department!

A Doctor performed a colonoscopy on me at Rock Regional Hospital. I did not expect the experience to be pleasant but I woke up in the recovery room in excruciating pain. Apparently too much air was left inside me. I was in agony and one of the nurses said it is just gas, let it out. So I tried to push the gas out and diarrhea exploded all over me from the waist down. It took over an hour for the doctor (or anybody else) to come check on me and have medication to help with the gas. So I literally waited over an hour in pain lying in my own feces. read more
