The RockSalt Deli is a new bar-come-eatery which has opened a stone's throw from my flat, so when the opportunity arose to go check it out I jumped at the chance.
At first glance, I'm not sure what the hell to make of this place. There's tables and lager branding all over the outside, which screams bar; yet when you get inside there's a large deli counter and they're selling all sorts of produce as well as selling the beer.
My girlfriend and I called in after a meal elsewhere locally, by which time it was pushing 10 PM, so we just ordered drinks. She went for a pornstar martini; I got a pint of Coast to Coast IPA. In terms of beer, the offering is a bit limited on draft but it's not all crap lager so you should find something to your taste. The bottles are a mixed bag of craft beer, cider and the usual suspects (Sol, Peroni etc).
The two drinks came to around £12, which isn't too bad for a cocktail and a pint I don't think - especially for Heaton Moor - and the cocktail had a good amount of booze in it.
I'll almost certainly be back in at some point for a longer stay, perhaps for some food and then the booze. read more
